Rockman X DiVE -- "Vile MK-II" Joins in Time to Fight Sigma Virus

Look who's here! Vile MK-II was initially planned to appear much earlier in the game's development... but regular Vile got his spot instead. Now, he's been resurrected to join the cast of playable characters!

What's more, the Raid Boss mode is back this week along with "Sigma Virus" from Mega Man X2.

Jasco Announces New, Officially-Licensed "Mega Man All-Stars" Board Game

Capcom nominates Armando Sionosa to handle the game's art

Jasco Games' long-awaited successor to the officially-licensed Mega Man Board Game is coming closer to fruition.

The manufacturer announced Mega Man All-Stars this week on livestream. As the name implies, the game features a star-studded cast -- literally every Robot Master AND Star Droid ever!

The basic gameplay tasks players with defending Dr. Light's lab from an incoming horde of Robot Masters and Star Droids; a concept deliberately inspired Hitoshi Ariga's Mega Man Megamix. To defend the lab, players must seek out and defeat different Robot Masters/Star Droids to build-up a Special Weapons loadout. Once adequately armed, they can take the final battle to Dr. Wily and - if strong enough - save the day.

Mega Man All-Stars will include four playable characters straight out of the box -- full-color mini figures based on Mega Man+Rush, Roll+Beat, Proto Man+Tango (Tango, people!) and Bass+Treble. The game's designers hint that it's possible to play as Robot Masters/Star Droids, even if they don't have an official mini-figure. We'll have to wait and see how that pans out exactly.

Much like its predecessor, Mega Man All-Stars will debut on Kickstarter. Campaign launch date and additional details are forthcoming. In the meantime, you should check out the livestream for more gameplay tidbits, close-ups of the mini figures, behind-the-scenes facts and more official art!

So that's that for now. Mega Man All-Stars sounds like a really promising idea and Jasco are hopeful fans will be receptive to it. I'm really looking forward to watching this one unfold!

More news on this front soon!

"Rockman-chan" Chapter 2 Now Available

Following the release of Rockman-san and Rockman-chan's respective first chapters on April 28th, the second chapter of Rockman-chan is now available in Japanese. A second chapter from Rockman-san was expected to drop today but it has been postponed to an undisclosed date. In the meantime, you can read Rockman-chan chapter 2 HERE!

Of note, both manga are performing reasonably well on the Japanese charts. They're having to compete with Kumo desu ga, Nani ka?, Hariko no Otome and other heavy hitters from the Young Ace Up lineup. During the first week of release, Rockman-san and Rockman-chan (counted as one manga) the placed#6 at launch. They fell to #22 during the second week.

If an English and Spanish fan-translation become available at some point, we will report about them. Meanwhile, if you're behind, you can catch up with the first chapter translation of both manga here.

Hitoshi Ariga Reveals Scrapped Manga Project "Rockman Nanomix" (+English & Spanish Translation)

A few days ago, Hitoshi Ariga took to Twitter to reveal Rockman Nanomix -- a project that he was working on after the conclusion of Rockman Gigamix 10 years ago. Due to undisclosed reasons, unfortunately, the project was put on hold. However, Ariga was generous enough to turn the initial concept and rough pages into something that was readable for audiences.

As it happened with Rockman san and Rockman chan, the manga has been translated in Spanish thanks to Aldo Cáceres Vilca. You can find his translation here. An English translation is available as well thanks to our good friend Midori (who runs the Mega Man Tune-a-Day Twitter account).

You can read the manga in English and download it after the break!

There's More Evidence That Rockman X DiVE is Coming to Steam

In late March, a series of Steam-related strings were discovered in the then-most-recent build of Rockman X DiVE. They carried the implication that a Steam version of the game was in the works. And now, with the advent of the game's May update, a new piece of evidence lends further credence

A Steam icon has found its way into the updated UI data (above). It's among other icons where you can link your Facebook, Line and Apple accounts to the game to transfer save data and/or switch devices.

The Steam icon cannot be seen by players at the moment; the asset is hiding away in the game data until the day it's needed. The Steam-related strings from the March are still there as well. You can read those after the jump below, if you're so inclined.

Pending official word from Capcom, the Steam version of Rockman X DiVE is *not* confirmed. But as evidence continues to mount, it's becoming increasingly likely we might here something soon. Gotta wait and see for now.

Unboxing the Rockman EXE 20th Anniversary "Treasure Box"

The Rockman EXE 20th Anniversary "Treasure Box" is already in the hands of those who preordered it. And thanks to YouTuber うばまろちゅーぶ we can take a closer look what's inside!

While the video doesn't show the interior of the special booklet which includes the new manga, it offers a good look at the other items. The new artwork drawn by Ryo Takamisaki and Minho Asada in particular looks great!

What's more, it appears Fukkan ended up including the "Cyber Beast Gregar (Greiga)" e-card with the "Rockman EXE no Subete Official Settei Shiryoushuu" reprint. That's a great bonus ... but do you think all of the above is worth the equivalent of 125€ or $151?

Super Adventure Rockman Gets New, Accurate English Subtitles

Super Adventure Rockman's English fan-translation is close to 13-years-old. And, really, it was an admirable first effort. Prior to 2008, no one sincerely took up the task to translate -- let alone subtitle -- the Japan-exclusive interactive movie game. We have 'ol Oyster to thank for that.

Flash forward to the present. A Mega Man YouTuber, per tradition, surprised viewers with an unexpected birthday gift. This year it was a brand-new, more accurate English translation of Super Adventure Rockman Episode 1: Temple of Moon! The translation has even been paired with the audio from the Sega Saturn version in its highest-quality format yet.

What's more, the animation was upscaled via AI. This was done to make things a bit more tolerable as a majority of Super Adventure Rockman's FMVs were presented in 192x144 (!!!). Only the Opening Movie, Ending Movie and Next Episode scenes were presented 320x240. But, hey, everything looks pretty good now!

Episodes 2 and 3 are expected to drop later this month. For now, you can watch Episode 1 above! Don't forget to turn on the captions!

"Rockman-san" and "Rockman-chan" English and Spanish Fan Translations Now Available

A couple days ago we finally had the chance to check out the first chapters for the brand-new "Rockman-san" and "Rockman-chan" manga. And now, thanks to the hard work of two members from the Mega Man community, we can read them both in English and Spanish!

Our good friend Midori (who runs the Mega Man Tune-a-Day Twitter account) translated -San and -Chan  into to English. You can find those here and here.

Meanwhile, Aldo Cáceres Vilca, who runs a blog dedicated to translating Rockman manga and different books into Spanish, translated them as well. You can find his Spanish translation here.

Now that most of you can read -San and -Chan, let us know what you think in the comments! Don't forget to thank Midori and Aldo, too!

"Rockman-san" and "Rockman-chan" First Chapters Posted Online

Last December, it was announced that two brand-new Rockman manga would launch in Spring 2021. That day is upon us.

The first chapters for both Rockman-san and Rockman-chan have been posted on Young Ace UP for free. Although each are presented in Japanese, there's no doubt we'll be seeing fan translations soon. Official English adaptations have yet to be confirmed.

Rockman-san follows the every day life of a grown-up Rockman as he deals with the tumultuous demands of an adult world. Older versions of Roll and Robot Masters make up the supporting cast. Meanwhile, Rockman-chan is a gag manga starring an "innocent" Blue Bomber who carries out Dr. Light's often-ridiculous demands.

You can check out the first chapters here or, alternatively, the following direct links:

We'll let you know when English versions become available - no worries. New chapters are expected to drop on May 12th. Stay tuned for continued coverage!

Rockman X DiVE Introduces "The Honorable Sword of Justice"

Once upon a time, the Repliforce tried to create the ideal Reploid. A Reploid with a "proud fighting spirit" and a "peace-loving heart." But it wasn't meant to be.

Repliforce scientists faced the reality that the two programs couldn't coexist in the same body. Instead, they placed the programs into two separate bodies, giving birth to the strong-willed Colonel and Iris, the arbitrator of peace.

Now, Rockman X DiVE is making the Repliforce's original dream a reality. An alternate scenario where two are one...

Capcom Store USA is Shutting Down Soon

If you've been eyeing something from the Capcom Store, well, you might want to get a jump on that. Capcom Store USA is officially closing down, the team announced on Twitter. The last day to place an order is May 1st. Supplies are limited (perhaps more than usual) so whatever it is you're hoping to buy, grab it ASAP.

Capcom Store USA first opened its doors in the Summer of 2000. It started off bare but grew into a place where fans could scoop up games and merchandise. The store's offering ebbed and flowed through the years; never quite catching up to the sheer magnitude of Capcom Japan's E-Capcom. But for many of us old timers, it was the go-to place to amass our Mega Man, Resident Evil and Street Fighter collections. I know I bought quite a few Mega Man shirts there myself. Good times.

Now, it's worth noting that it remains to be seen if this is literal end of Capcom Store USA. It's closed down before on more than one occasion, only to reemerge a few months later with a fresh coat of paint. Only time will tell.

Until then... place your orders now!

"Capcom vs. Osamu Tezuka Characters" Artbook Delayed to June

The much-anticipated "Capcom vs. Osamu Tezuka Characters" artbook was supposed to hit shelves in Japan this month. However, according to Fukkan, that's no longer be the case. The book's pre-order page now shows a new, unspecified June release date.

Although publisher Shufunotomo hasn't outright confirmed the delay, the radio silence on their end since January speaks volumes. It's a small delay so hopefully everything will be ready to go soon!

For the uninitiated, the artbook is a compilation of pieces drawn for the Capcom vs. Osamu Tezuka art exhibit that ran between October 2020 and February 2021. The 112-page tome features extensive coverage of the exhibit, rare and conceptual illustrations and unused manuscripts from Tezuka-san himself. Unfortunately it's only for sale from Fukkan... and they don't ship outside of Japan. If you really want it, though, you can try securing a copy from a proxy like CDJapan

I'm holding out for an official English localization, personally. Nevertheless, bring on June!

The Making of Monster Hunter World's Mega Man Palico Armor

Monster Hunter Rise may be all the rage these days (it even includes a little Rush easter-egg), but Monster Hunter World remains alive and kicking. That said, a series of videos were recently brought to my attention that chronicle the creation of the World's Palico Mega Man armor.

The videos, accompanied by a lengthy article on Naver, disclose the trials and tribulations of Sohn Seok-min; the sole individual charged with translating Mega Man's iconic 8-bit sprite into 3D. Early versions of the model are on full display, including several unused facial expressions. It's a really interesting story, one that I've gone ahead and paraphrased (with videos!) after the break below. Check it out!

First Look at Ryo Takamisaki's New Rockman EXE One Shot Story

To commemorate Rockman EXE's 20th anniversary, Ryo Takamisaki has been hard at work whipping up a brand-new one shot story. Plot details are pretty much non-existent at the moment. What we do know, though, is that it will be called "Blues' Runaway." Takamisaki-san posted two work-in-progress pages yesterday, too. No text so... infer away!

The one-shot story will be included inside Fukkan's Rockman EXE 20th Anniversary Treasure Box. It's a big box that comes with a bunch of EXE-themed stuff. You can read about what's inside here. Unfortunately, there are no current plans to distribute the story elsewhere. It's only in the Treasure Box.

What's more, there are no plans for an official English translation. That, coupled with a somewhat restrictive form of availability, means we may be waiting a little while before someone in the community can grab it and translate it. It's a bummer, yeah.

If you have the means to do so, you can pre-order the Treasure Box here.

Rockman X DiVE May Be Coming to Steam

Rockman X DiVE is a proven hit on mobile. And if a few interesting strings are to be believe, it may find further success on PC.

Nope; this isn't an early April Fool's joke. According to a verified Rockman Corner source, the latest version of Rockman X DiVE's client makes several allusions to Steam. English prompts such as "the account has been banned by Steam VAC", "Steam product ID doesn't match",  "Steam purchase failed,"and "You are not logged in on your Steam account. Please start the game on the Steam panel" appear numerous times throughout the client. These and dozens of other solitary references to Steam haven't appeared in Rockman X DiVE before.

Indeed, there are heavy implications at work here. While nothing is outright confirmed, the presence of Steam strings could suggest that the development team are in the process of porting Rockman X DiVE to PC. If so, that would open the game up to a larger audience; new players living beyond the game's key markets in Asia and Japan.

Demand for official support in North America and much of Europe has been vocal since day one. Perhaps a PC/Steam port is the answer? Pending further evidence or official word from Capcom, we can only speculate.

Would you pick up and play X DiVE on PC? Hey, I've been doing alright with BlueStacks. But I wouldn't oppose this in the slightest. I'm all in for accessibility and native controller support!

Rockman X DiVE Digital Stickers Now Available on LINE

Rockman X DiVE is a pretty big hit in Asia. So much so that it's dominance has bled into LINE with the release of brand-new stickers! They're cute,  fun to collect and... they're only available in Taiwan, Hong Kong and Macau.

But hey, the good news is there are different methods to legitimately download out-of-region LINE content. A little Googling can go a long way. But for now you can see what all 40 character stickers look like here. There's one for X, Axl, Zero... even RiCO and ViA (who apparently has a mouth? Neat, I guess.)

If you have the means to do so, you can download the stickers here. And, no; I don't have any updates on when X DiVE will become available in the states. Sorry, folks!

Mega Man Battle Network 20th Anniversary News Round-up

While there weren't any significant announcements made on March 21st, (again, Capcom are asking us to be patient about that) there were a handful of smaller Mega Man Battle Network 20th anniversary news bites that shouldn't go unnoticed.

Epic Games Wants to Know if You Want Mega Man in Fortnite

I'll level with you -- I don't play Fortnite. I tried it a few times. Eh. It wasn't for me. But I won't deny how important it is for a lot of people. Maybe you, even! That's why, dear Rockman Corner reader, you might find this particular bit of news interesting.

Reportedly, Epic Games have e-mailed a survey to select Fortnite players asking which video game franchises they'd like to see crossovers with. These include Resident Evil, Ratchet and Clank, Super Mario and even... Mega Man! Nice.

The full list includes a LOT of heavy-hitters so it stands to reason that the Blue Bombers faces some competition. Granted, Capcom already has a foot in the proverbial Fortnite door with Street Fighter. That may bode well for our boy. Maybe.

All in all, though, there's no guarantee that these characters will make it into the game. The survey is primarily being used to gauge interest in the direction future crossovers will take. Video game franchises? Movie characters? Comic book heroes and so on? Only time will tell. You can find more info from the sources below.

Capcom Asks for "Patience" During Mega Man Battle Network's 20th Anniversary

Mega Man Battle Network turned 20-years-old today.

It's a milestone anniversary that, at first, appeared to be marching in-line with Capcom's Mega Man X 25th anniversary output. "Capcom Seeking Partners for Mega Man Battle Network 20th Anniversary Products" was a headline that carried major implications. For the most part, it still does.

But that headline dropped in May 2020. May. We were two months into a raging pandemic, facing a remarkably uncertain future. To say COVID-19 hasn't had an impact on Capcom's plans, let alone the industry as a whole, is an understatement. And today, on Battle Network's actual 20th anniversary, the company finally acknowledged it.

Five PS2 Mega Man Prototypes Dumped Including a Very Early X8

Roughly 755 PlayStation 2 prototypes have been released by Hidden Place and Textfiles under "Project Deluge". No longer subject to a disc rot fate, these freshly-preserved prototypes include five Mega Man titles.

The are:

  • Mega Man Anniversary Collection (May 6, 2004 prototype)
  • Mega Man X Collection (Nov 8, 2005 prototype)
  • Mega Man X8 (Aug 12, 2004 prototype)
  • Mega Man X8 (Oct 20, 2004 prototype)
  • Mega Man X: Command Mission (Jul 23, 2004 prototype)

While each of these games feature their own helping of differences from their final retail counterparts, the August 12th build of Mega Man X8 is certainly the most significant. It predates the final build by two months, featuring numerous unused graphics, unfinished cutscenes (storyboards are used instead) placeholder assets, debug features and more.

You can download and play these prototypes from Hidden Palace's Project Deluge page. Note that, if the page or DL links become unavailable, check back again in a couple hours.

"Capcom Retro Station" Trailer (Feat. Mega Man & Bass, Power Battle/Fighters, Soccer, MMX)

With the Capcom Retro Station due to hit Japan at the end of the month, it's only fitting that manufacturer TRON published the above trailer. It's our best look yet at this officially-licensed, arcade-style micro console.

As previously reported, the Retro Station includes ten pre-installed Mega Man and Street Fighter games. The five Mega Man titles are Mega Man: The Power Battle, Mega Man 2: The Power Fighters, Mega Man X, Mega Man Soccer and Rockman & Forte. With the exception of Rockman & Forte, every Mega Man game listed is fully playable in English. Rockman & Forte will be the original, untranslated Super Famicom version.

The Retro Station is due in Japan in March 31st for 21,780 Yen. That's roughly $210 US. Pre-orders are currently available through Amazon Japan. A global release is planned to rollout soon after.

Five Obscure Rockman Manga Scanned and Translated

Need some fresh Rockman reading material in your life? Sure ya do! Rockman Tanjou's very own Digi returns with not one, but five brand-new, English scanlated manga! These books are relatively obscure and are pretty new to many of us -- myself included.

They are:

The first manga is from the Rockman & Rockman X Daizukan, written and illustrated by Goro Yamada (Kikaider, Inazuma). The Rockman ZX Advent Extra Chapter is a new chapter from Shin Ogata that was produced in 2019, distributed to fans who purchased both volumes of the Rockman ZX Advent reprints.  It's the newest story of this translated batch.

Saga of the the Planets and Saga of the Mu Continent were written and illustrated by Daisuke Inoue in 1993 and 1994. They appeared exclusively in Comic Bom Bom's Spring and Winter Vacation Jumbo issues, respectively. Neither Mu nor Voldos has been reprinted in any form. And finally, the Gigamix Settai is... well, I'm sure you can guess who was behind that one!

Mega Man 1-6 Mobile Will Be Delisted on March 29th

Hey, you remember when all six NES Mega Man games dropped on mobile four years ago? Yeah... they're about to be taken down. For good.

Mega Man Mobile 1-6, for no readily available reason, will be delisted from both the App Store and Google Play (worldwide) on March 29th, Capcom announced. Users who previously purchased the games (individually or bundled) will still be able to redownload them. Four other Capcom Mobile titles, Ghosts 'n Ghoblins, Ghouls 'n Ghosts, 1942, Wolf of the Battlefield: Commando, will be delisted on the 29th as well.

Originally released in early 2017 for $1.99 a pop, Mega Man Mobile 1-6 will be notoriously remembered for a swath of performance issues. Poor and sudden frame drops, unresponsive controls, off-key and broken sound emulation... the list goes on. And if memory servers right, these ports were actually ports OF ports. They were based on the Brew/C versions from 2004-2006. So yeah; these were never really an accurate representation of the original games.

Anyway, that's that. The .apk for each game exists out there in the ether for posterity. But, you know, maybe you should go buy Mega Man Legacy Collection?

Rockman x Castle & Dragon Collab Event Returns

Castle & Dragon players who missed out on the Rockman crossover event from roughly two years ago can finally get a stab at it!

The collaboration -- for some unknown reason--  is reportedly returning to Castle & Dragon on March 12. Just like before, you can purchase equipment and armors based on various classic series characters, You know, the usual suspects: Rockman, Blues, Forte, Metal Man, Air Man and so on. Rare drops include helmet-less Rockman and 8-bit Rockman. Each armor comes with their own unique attacks and stats. Players will also have the chance to take on Dr. Wily in a battle for medieval supremacy!

You can check out what all that looks like - and more - from the video above!

Mega Man X - 1/4 Scale Zero Statue by PCS Announced

The first of many brand-new, officially licensed Mega Man X statues from Premium Collectibles Studio has been partially revealed... Zero! But this isn't your typical Zero statue, no.

While not outright confirmed, the artwork used to announce the statue heavily implies it's based on Zero's birth. The "under construction" visage of the crimson Maverick Hunter -- first depicted in Mega Man X4 and again in Mega Man X5 -- is a fan-favorite. The scene hasn't been realized in any form prior but, with PCS at the helm, you can expect a highly-detailed statue worthy of one's collection.

There are currently no details about price or release date, but I'm assuming we'll know more in a matter of days. Do note, however, that PCS products don't come cheap. You'll probably need to save up a good $300 or more.

In the meantime, you can "RSVP" to be notified when the statue becomes available via Sideshow.
