HMO Collectibles Teases Future Mega Man X Statues

The makers of that high-end, 1/4 scale Mega Man X statue are readying more Maverick Hunters and Mavericks for your collection. HMO Collectibles' next MMX project looks to be Zero, according to a post on their site. On Facebook, designer Dani Hinze asks, "who wants a Red Robot for Christmas anyone?" It looks like we may be seeing this one by the holidays.

Further, Hinze says "we have big plans for this universe of Maverick Hunters and Mavericks can't forget the villains and you will be seeing some next year."

My, oh my. That's quite the tease, isn't it? Which characters are you hoping to see? Personally, I'd like to see someone that's not Sigma. Or at least a statue of one of Sigma's many forms. I could go for that, among other things. I guess we'll wait and see!

Rockman Classics Collection 1 3DS Gets Budget Re-release in Japan

Capcom announced a budget re-release of the Nintendo 3DS version of Rockman Classic Collection for Japan. The "Best Price!" version releases on September 14th for 3,229 yen (about $30) and 2,990 yen for digital ($26-ish). The contents of the game are exactly the same as the original version, which contains Rockman 1-6 on a single cartridge.

Unfortunately, Rockman Classics Collection 2 is still MIA on the Nintendo front. It's a shame; I mean, I think this budget re-release would be more desirable if it had a Nintendo counterpart to go with it. Bit of a missed opportunity, yeah?

Mega Man Mastermix #1 Preview Pages

By way of Udon Entertainment's Matt Moylan, here's a few sample pages from the first issue of Mega Man Mastermix; the planned ongoing, full-color comic series coming in January 2018.

Well, what do you think of the colors? This is Josh Perez's handiwork, who is perhaps best known for his work on IDW's Transformers comics. Original author and illustrator Hitoshi Ariga is supervising Perez's coloring, too. What's more, Ariga will provide new cover art for each issue!

Again, the first 80-page volume arrives in January with future issues coming out each quarter. There is no set length for Mastermix. In other words, the series could very well cover Megamix *and* Gigamix. Beyond that, well, we shall see!

Thanks for the goods, Matt!

Udon Announces Mega Man Mastermix – Hitsohi Ariga Comics in Color!

Say hello to Mega Man Mastermixit's Mega Mega Megamix remastered in color! Officially announced at Comic-Con, Udon Entertainment will be publishing the series an an ongoing quarterly comic starting January 2018. Josh Perez will be the colorist. Issue #1 debuts with 80-pages.

I'm sure you have lots of questions right now. But for the moment, this is all that can be shared. In the meantime, let me say I think you're really going to like the look of this. I have been waiting a long time to share this project. I got to see a bit of Mastermix a little over a year ago and, man, the colors look great. Josh Perez has done a fine job complimenting Ariga's style. Look forward to it!

Stay tuned for more news!

Bandai Reveals Premium Mega Man X Second Armor Figure (Updated)

Well, it turns out that Bandai teaser wasn't related to the X-Hunters or Bit and Byte after all. Instead, we're getting a brand new figure based on Mega Man X's Second Armor.

Mega Man Movie Reportedly in Development From Catfish Directors

Two years ago Twentieth Century Fox were said to be developing a Mega Man movie for the big screen. Today, The Hollywood Reporter brings word that not only is the film in development but Henry Joost and Ariel Schulman, the filmmakers behind the documentary Catfish, are in talks to write and direct.

THR confirms Chernin Entertainment is producing the project with Masi Oka (you might remember him from NBC's Heroes). Twentieth Century Fox worked two years to acquire the film rights to Mega Man, and finally closed a deal earlier this year. No other details were disclosed at this time.

Now, this news doesn't outright confirm a Mega Man movie will actually happen. That is to say, video game to film adaptations are announced all the time; more often than not, though, little comes to fruition. Still, interesting news nonetheless. We'll be keeping tabs on this.

GMOTM Interviews the Man Who Played the Mega Man Legends 3 Prototype

Two events took place on this day six years ago: Mega Man Legends 3 was cancelled and Get Me Off the Moon was formed in response. To mark both occasions, GMOTM published a brand-new interview with Chris Hoffman, former editor of Nintendo Power and the only English-speaking journalist to have played the Mega Man Legends 3 Prototype.

The interview details story and gameplay information not previously known, among other topics. One of the more interesting tidbits concerns the relationship between Barrett and Roll. According to Chris, Barrett not only knew Roll somehow but Roll even said he "seems like family." We may never know the exact connection between Barrett and Barrell Caskett, but it sounds like they may have been one and the same.

Anyway, it's a great interview. It may make you want MML3 even more, but it's great. Read it at GMOTM!

"Dark Rock Volnutt" 4Inch-Nel Variant Announced

Naughty Rockman DASH and Mega Man Legends fans are in for a treat. Later this month, Sentinel will be distributing a "Dark Rock Volnutt" 4Inch-Nel variant at Wonder Festival. Shortly after, limited quantities will go on sale at Sentinel's website on July 30th.

For those not in the know, this figure is based on Rock's appearance when the player performs too many bad deeds. The suitcase accessory is a direct reference to the optional bank robbery sidequest from the original game. Here, players have the choice of returning a stolen case of 200,000 Zenny or keeping it for themselves. Rock's armor immediately turns jet black if you keep it!

Now, you're probably wondering how *you* can score this devilishly good figure, right? The previous dark Mega Man variant, Dark Mega Man.EXE, actually came stateside as a New York Comic-Con exclusive. I'm speculating here, but I think there's a good chance we'll see this one at a con in the coming months. If not, maybe a web exclusive somewhere like Big Bad Toystore. Point is, international fans have yet to be left out on these "dark" variants. I'll keep an eye out for you.

For now, check out more images here!

Bandai Teasing X-Hunters, Bit and Byte Figures?

Oh boy. Oh man. Bandai just tossed up one doozy of a teaser. It's a little too early to call it but, it could point to X-Hunter figures... or Bit and Byte. Either way, something interesting is afoot.

Looking Back at Coro Coro Comic's First Rockman EXE Coverage

Coro Coro Comic turned 40-years-old this year. The premiere monthly manga magazine kicked off in spring of 1977. For four decades Coro Coro has entertained Japanese children with manga from Doraemon and Pokémon to Beyblade and Yo-Kai Watch. For many of us in the West, though, we came to know Coro Coro as the defining source for Mega Man Battle Network coverage.

To commemorate the magazine that helped define Mega Man Battle Network for both East and West, let's dig up some old Coro Coro pages!
