Capcom Reveals Rockman X DiVE's Roadmap for July to October

Rockman X DiVE is in the middle of a quiet period with no additional characters. Since the distribution of Dr. Light The Martial Artist on June 8, the game has seen a share of reruns. These include the Bridal event, the 2020 summer event and the 2021 summer event this week.

Obviously, fans of the game are wondering what's coming next. To that end, the development team took to social media today to provide a look into the next few months of content.

RiCO Becomes Playable in Mega Man X DiVE's NA Server Next Week

In the midst of the X-Hunters event, the global version of Mega Man X DiVE shows no signs of giving players a rest. More characters are coming to the game next week.

While the Asian version released RiCO to celebrate its first anniversary, the global version won't be waiting for its respective anniversary milestone: RiCO's gacha capsule will be available in the NA server next Wednesday. The capsule comes packed with a single free 10-pull.

RiCO's first active skill is Data Recreation, which allows her to deploy an information window to pull a random skill from either Ultimate Armor X (Plasma Charge Shot), Awakened Zero (Genmu Zero) or Iris (Peaceful Wish).

Her second active skill is Data Analysis, which deploys a force-field that inflicts damage and absorbs energy from an enemy. What's more, one of her passive skills will "randomly remove a buff when hitting a target with your weapon attack"

The event stage "ViA's Deep Log Training" will be available at a later date.

When it comes to the EU server, they are getting Bass.EXE GS and the LATAM server will get Sigma (X4 2nd Form). Both capsules include a single free 10-pull too.

Review: Kotobukiya Mega Man X Rising Fire Ver.

When Kotobukiya's Mega Man X Fourth Armor Rising Fire Ver. was announced, it was accompanied by the kit above: Mega Man X Rising Fire Ver. While on the surface it may appear to be an X recolor, it does bring its own flavor to the table. Besides, X having recolors is a huge part of the games in the first place, right? After the break, let's see what makes this kit more than just a simple recolor.

Yoshihiro Iwamoto Rockman X2 Manga Re-Translation Completed

Hot on the heels of the Rockman EXE: Operate Shooing Star VS English translation, Azure Wind Productions finally completed the re-translation of Yoshihiro Iwamoto's Rockman X2 manga. The project took four solid months of hard work.

To date, Azure Wind productions successfully re-translated a number of manga. These include the Rockman X1 and Rockman X4 volumes, two previously untranslated chapters from the Rockman X3 manga (Mars and Ikaros) and the extra story "Holiday". The later is a story that was drawn and included in the 2005 reprint as a bonus.

That's all when it comes to Yoshihiro Iwamoto's Rockman X manga. But if you're a regular of Rockman Corner, you already know that Azure Wind translated the highly-regarded The Men Who Made Rockman, among other works.

While you wait for Azure Wind's eventual X3 re-translation, you can read the Rockman X2 manga, and all their translated works so far here!

One-Shot Manga Rockman EXE: Operate Shooting Star VS English Translation Released

Fan translation group Espresso Scans and Azure Wind Productions have released a full, English-translation of Rockman EXE: Operate Shooing Star VS. It's an obscure one-shot originally published in Bessatsu CoroCoro Comic Special in 2009.

Unlike any previous Rockman EXE manga, this short story takes place in the real world - the one we live in. It focuses on Amino Raito, a young boy who is determined to come out on top against a mutliplayer Operate Shooting Star battle with his rival Mieharu. The 32-page story is essentially a promo for the game, really. You won't find any kind of Takamisaki-style high stakes here.

All in all, it's an interesting, if not obscure commodity. Head over to Esspresso Scans here and check it out!

χ-kai- Joins Mega Man X DiVE Next Week

The leader of the X-Hunters is coming to all servers on the global version of Mega Man X DiVE next week. He started life as a collectible figure; and now,  χ-kai- will be playable! He'll be available from the gacha starting next Wednesday.

He shares gacha capsule with the Arc Cracker, a weapon based on Violen, one of the X-Hunters from Mega Man X2 and the A rank sprayer Virus Sprayer.

χ-kai-'s first active skill is "Charge Shot -kai-" which shoots an energy round that can invert the target's horizontal movement. It can even recover a portion of health.

Multi-Chasing Laser is his second active skill. It's an attack that launches, well, multi-chasing lasers. One passive skills allows him to gain a shield that grants invulnerability when in use.

What's more? During the next two weeks of X-Hunters event players can get the X-Hunters card and enough memories to unlock the Virus Sprayer.

You can watch the official trailer here!

Rie Tanaka Returns to Voice Ciel in Rockman X DiVE

It's no secret that some characters in Rockman X DiVE were distributed without voices because they lacked spoken dialogue in their original games. And in some case, like Iris, Forte and Ciel, intended recording sessions for new voiced lines were impacted by the COVID pandemic. Many were put on hold.

Iris received voiced lines in July 2020. Forte and his many iterations followed only a week ago. And now, it's finally time for Ciel to stop being mute because her original voice actress, Rie Tanaka, is back to voice her!

The last time Rie Tanaka was involved in the franchise was during the promotion of the Mega Man Zero/ZX Legacy Collection. She released a new version of Rockman Zero 4's ending vocal track, Freesia, and made a guest appearance in Capcom TV.

Ciel's voice will be implemented this Wednesday. Meanwhile, "Valentines Day Ciel" and "Christmas Ciel" will follow suit on June 29. You can check a preview of the new voice lines here!

Vile MK-II Lands on Mega Man X DiVE Next Week

Coming up next week on the global version of Mega Man X DiVEVile MK-II arrives to the NA and EU servers. The gacha banner features the limited launcher Absolute Freeze based on Blizzard Wolfang from Mega Man X6, too. Players can also get up to 7 days of free daily 10-pulls by participating in the following social media campaign.

Vile MK-II's first active skill is Goliath. In the same vein as Tron Bonne and Gustaff, Vile MK-II can summon the Ride Amor Goliath, which can take a certain amount of damage. It uses specific skills, too.

His second active skill is Flame Round which shoots a flame round with a knee cannon to inflict damage.

What's more? The NA and EU servers will get the Singularity Slasher gacha capsule. The limited saber is based on Omega's first form in Mega Man Zero 3. The banner will yield a guaranteed S rank weapon in the 1st, 3rd and 5th 10-pull.

Lastly, the LATAM server moves to the second week of the Street Fighter event which brings Akuma to the game!

Much like the previous collection, Arcade 2nd Stadium games feature online leader boards, a variety of display and filter settings, a rewind feature and the option to turn on invincibility. Games can be purchased individually for $3.99 or $39.99 for all 32.

Capcom Arcade 2nd Stadium is slated to debut worldwide on July 22nd for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC/Steam.

Mega Man: The Power Battle and Power Fighters Seemingly Coming to Capcom Arcade 2nd Stadium

Although not outright confirmed, it appears that both Mega Man: The Power Battle and Mega Man 2: The Power Fighters are headed to Capcom Arcade 2nd Stadium.

Twitter user @Alumia_Italia, who regularly keeps tabs on backend data from the Microsoft Store, found images for several games slated to appear in Bundle 1. Chief among them are Power Battle and Power Fighters.

Pending official word from Capcom, we can't say for certain they're in. But, honestly, it wouldn't be totally unexpected. Perhaps we'll learn more during Capcom's Summer Showcase next week.  The event is expected to feature news and updates on previously announced titles.

And if you're playing in the NA or EU servers, fear not; the "brides" are coming your way next week after the usual Wednesday maintenance period.

When it comes to the LATAM server, next week will see the "What Am I Fighting For!!!" capsule. It debuted back in February in the NA and EU servers. It features Iris, Zero and the Assault Equipment weapon. This capsule won't feature free pulls.

What's more? The Atomic Disintegration capsule will be available in the LATAM server too.

And that's all for now! For more information about next week's update, keep your eyes peeled to the game's social media channels!

Mega Man Legacy Collection Coming to Amazon Luna

Amazon Luna, the company's paid game streaming service, is getting another dose of the blue bomber. Mega Man Legacy Collection will be joining the platform in June, Amazon announced. It will coincide with Luna versions of Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 3, among other titles.

Mega Man Legacy Collection is the second title in the franchise to join Luna, following Mega Man 11 last September. The collection will be available on the "Retro Channel" , a subscription tier that typically runs for $4.99 a month in the U.S.

There's nothing to suggest additional Mega Man titles will be added to Luna in the future. But it's interesting Legacy Collection 2 is sitting this one out. You'd think that wouldn't be too far behind for completion's sake.

The "Brides" and Roll Caskett Join Mega Man X DiVE Next Week

Following the LATAM server, it's the NA and European servers turn to get Roll Caskett and the limited weapon Jet Vortex Buster gacha capsule. What's more? It bring a daily free 10-pull!

On top of this, the Air Pirate Servbot event gets a rerun and the NA server will have a pickup capsule with Pandora, Tron Bonne and the Savage Tusk of Thunder machine gun. The EU server will recieve the Atomic Disintegration capsule instead.

Now, while the LATAM server has to wait a little longer for the Street Fighter event and characters, next week they are getting one of the most popular events so far —the Burning Bride of June.

The gacha capsule features Bridal Alia, Bridal Layer and the S rank spray Gator Fangs based on Bifrost the Crocoroid's design from Mega Man ZX Advent.

All this content is coming next Wednesday to the game. Keep your eyes peeled to the game's social media channels for more information!

Bandai Teasing New Rockman.EXE Action Figure

Bandai have announced plans to expand their popular Shokugan Modeling Project line into four different sublines. The fourth line, dubbed "Kit Makes Pose", will kick things off with a brand-new Rockman.EXE action figure.

Unfortunately, the company did not provide images of the figure itself. They've gone ahead and plastered Rockman.EXE's silhouette across various PR materials and an announcement trailer instead. There are no details on price, release date and availability at this time.

And that's pretty much all there is to say on this for now. The figure will boast a high degree of articulation and poseability, though. That should come as good news for collectors.

More news as it comes in. Stay tuned!

"X Vs. Zero Decisive Battle 2" Gets a Gorgeous HD Remaster

UltimateMaverickX's "X Vs. Zero Decisive Battle 2" is one of the most popular and well-known Mega Man videos on YouTube (over 5 million views!) And now, roughly twelve years after the original video's debut, fans can experience again - in full HD 60 FPS. Check it out above!

"I don't have the original files anymore so I recreated it," he writes. "It's technically a remake but the outcome looks more of a remaster. I didn't expect the 2010 animation would be great to Megaman fans. :D I'm happy it became nostalgic. I hope you will like this remastered version."

For the unaware, UMX is a talented fan-artist in the Mega Man community. His work caught Capcom's eye and, in 2019, he was brought on as the official artist for the Mega Man 1-11 Vinyl Soundtrack Collection. He would later go on to produce the art for the Mega Man X Vinyl Soundtrack in 2021.

You can find more from UMX at his official Deviant Art page.

While the X DiVE event comes a few weeks behind its real-world counterpart, it won't leave anyone indifferent, especially for fans who love Mega Man Powered Up's art style.

G Fuel Announces Mega Man Slushee Energy Drink

G Fuel, the "official energy drink of Esports®", is teaming up with Capcom to launch a new Mega Man-inspired energy drink. The "Blue Bomber Slushee" is a sugar-free, vanilla blue raspberry flavored formula that purportedly boosts your energy and focus. It even comes with a Mega Buster shaped shaker bottle.

Details are few and far between at the moment, but this appears to be a limited-time product relegated to G Fuel's online store. You'll have to join the waitlist to be notified when it goes on sale.

So yeah; pretty random crossover here. The shaker's kinda cool. But, uh, missed opportunity much?

GameCenter CX Kicks Off 26th Season with Rockman 5

The twenty-sixth season of GameCenter recently premiered in Japan. And to the surprise of longtime viewers, Shinya Arino kicked things off with Rockman 5 -- eleven years after clearing Rockman 4.

As one would expect from GCCX Rockman runs, Rockman 5 is no cakewalk for the "shachou". Arino's dead-pan sense of humor hasn't changed in eleven years though and that helps him along. He's also given tips and moral support from the season's newest assistant director too. Watching the two piece together the Robot Master order is great fun.

At the time of this writing, the episode hasn't been subbed. But a raw is out there! I can't exactly link you to it... but good things come to those who Google

Thanks for the tip, AWD!

Keisuke Mizuno Rockman X Guitar Going On Sale at Beep Akihabara

If you happen to be visiting (or maybe living?) in Japan, you might want to swing by Beep Akihabara soon. The retro video game store will be parting ways with its famed Rockman X guitar, signed by none other than series artist Keisuke Mizuno.

This one-of-a-kind telecaster was made to commemorate Rockman X Anniversary Collection in Japan (Mega Man X Legacy Collection). It even appears on the cover of the game's OST, wielded with great power by X. And yes -- Mizuno drew that piece!

The store didn't disclose just how much the guitar will cost when it goes on sale tomorrow. Safe to say, I think, it won't be cheap. Bring lots of Zenny, if you're so inclined!

Nintendo Switch Online Leak Includes Mega Man Battle Network & "SP" NES Mega Man Games

There was a pretty sizable Nintendo Switch Online leak over the weekend, which seems to suggest that Game Boy, Game Boy Color and Game Boy Advance games may be hitting the service soon.

The leak includes Nintendo's own proprietary emulators for these legacy handhelds and a list of games tested on each. Chief among them are Mega Man Battle Network 2, Mega Man Battle Network 5: Team Protoman and Mega Man Zero 3. Although the latter is readily available to play in Mega Man Zero/ZX Legacy Collection, there's currently no legitimate means of playing Battle Network titles on Switch (or any current-gen device).

According to MondoMega, "tested" is the big keyword here. There's no solid indicator that these games will actually be distributed to NSO subscribers. However, Nintendo did get these games up and running on Switch at some point. Whether or not they intend on rolling them out remains to be seen. In the meantime, you can find a more detailed list of GB, GBC and GBA games Nintendo tested here.

On the flip-side, a batch of yet-to-be released "SP" NES Mega Man games were also discovered in a leaked, updated version of the NSO NES app. These "special" titles include Mega Man 1-Mega Man 6. All six SP versions will start players at the Boss Rush.

You can find more details on the NSO NES leak here. Hopefully we'll get to play everything here sooner rather than later!

Kotobukiya MegaMan.EXE is Still in Development

It's no secret that the pandemic waylaid additional Mega Man Battle Network 20th anniversary announcements. While a few commemorative goods managed to slip out through 2020-2021, more significant products remain delayed indefinitely.

One notable casualty is Kotobukiya's unreleased Mega Man Battle Network model kits. 1/12 scale MegaMan.EXE and Dark MegaMan.EXE variant were first unveiled on November 28, 2020. The pair were expected to launch in 2021 for the 20th anniversary. But as that sad, vacant space on your shelf can attest, nothing came to fruition. Kotobukiya haven't issued a formal update either. The announcement came and went.

But hey! I actually have a small update for ya. A source close to the manufacturer informs me that, despite mounting cancellation fears, MegaMan.EXE (and Dark MegaMan.EXE) remain in active development. A firm release window was not provided. However, I'm left with the impression that these kits are being held back to coincide with other announcements... whatever they may be.

We're knee-deep in a quiet period, that much is certain. But hopefully the powers that be have used this time to reevaluate a distribution strategy. Maybe things will become more clear as we approach the franchise's overall 35th anniversary. We'll see. We'll see.

Mega Man "Character Study" Concept Art from Unmade Mega Man Game

In 2016, artist Gonzalo Ordoñez - aka Genzoman - revealed his designs from a unproduced Mega Man game. Genzoman said he was commissioned in 2009-2010 to re-design Mega Man characters for an internal pitch project. However, he wasn't the only artist summoned by Capcom to re-imagine our favorite blue robot.

Today I'm sharing a classic series character study from that same pitch project. And really, I can't stress "character study" enough. This mega musclebound piece, illustrated by an anonymous artist from Massive Black, wasn't intended to be *the* design for this unmade project. I'm told it was more or less to get a feel for that character; to "explore different ideas, expressions, styles, etc."

Of note, this design was briefly made public on Massive Black's portfolio several years ago after the pitch went nowhere. Despite that, they were asked to take it down. Things have cooled off now... but we'll see.

I have nothing more to share from this elusive 2009-2010 pitch project at the moment. Based on Genzoman's past comments and some additional research, I'm confident it wasn't related to Armature Studio's first-person Maverick Hunter project. This was something wholly different.

An In-Depth Look at Mega Man 2's Code and How Zipping Works

Presented by Displaced Gamers, "The Complex Code of Mega Man 2" breaks down the crazy medley that is Mega Man 2's code. It's a pretty insightful piece that, among other things, shines a light on the game's ever-so-critical "ejection" logic, which is necessary to perform the famous zipping bug.

Zipping is a strategy used by speedrunners to skip past whole portions of a stage. Why does it work so satisfyingly well in Mega Man 2? Well, it turns out Mega Man's left-facing ejection logic is OFF by one pixel. If not for that single pixel - an oversight from the game's three month development period - decades worth of Mega Man 2 speedruns would be a very different.

Mega Man and Cut Man Nanoblocks Available to Pre-Order

Alongside the all-new Mininano sets, the original Mega Man and Cut Man Nanoblocks from 2013 will be re-released this fall. Both sets are currently available to pre-order from the following links:

They're $12 a piece with an estimated November release date.

Although not outright confirmed, the bricks necessary to build Mega Man's health/energy pellets and Cut Man's Suzy and Screw Bomber from the 2013 kits are missing. Based the current batch of stock images, you'll only be able to build an E-Can for Mega Man and a Blader for Cut Man. Not a big loss, IMO, but something to be mindful of.
