Review: Kotobukiya Mega Man 11 Scramble Thunder & Pile Drive

After a short delay, Kotobukiya has finally released the latest kits in their Mega Man Classic line. This time, we got two Special Weapon based kits from Mega Man 11: Scramble Thunder and Pile Drive. Hosted by Kotobukiya's Rockman X model kit planner Bachi (Shohei Chiba) and Ryōtarō Okiayu, the voice actor for Zero and Proto Man, this hour-long broadcast showed not only the release details for Rockman 11 Ver. Rockman, but several reveals!

Mega Man 11 Tops 1.60 Million Units; Now Best Selling Game in the Franchise

A few months ago we celebrated the Mega Man franchise achieving 38 million units sold. And today we've got another milestone!

Capcom has announced that, as of September 30, 2022, Mega Man 11 has become the best selling game in the franchise with 1.60 million units sold across all platforms. It's finally dethroned Mega Man 2 as the best selling title.

Mega Man 2 was originally released back in 1988. It's taken almost 34 years for another game in the franchise to surpass the total number of units sold for what many consider to be the best game in the series. As of today, Mega Man 2 sits at number two with 1.51 million units.

As we wait for the next Mega Man flagship title to be announced and with our eyes set on Mega Man Battle Network Legacy Collection we would like to congratulate Kazuhiro Tsuchiya, Koji Oda, Masakazu Eguchi, Yuji Ishihara and everyone involved in Mega Man 11's development. This is an amazing achievement.

Kotobukiya News Roundup - EXE Release Dates, New X Series Model Kits and More!

Rockman 11 Manga: Special Interview with Ryo Takamisaki

We're back with another translated Ryo Takamisaki interview! 

 

This time, it's a short short piece published alongside Takamisaki's Rockman 11 one-shot manga from 2018. The interview was originally published in the Fall 2018 issue of CoroCoro Aniki. It focuses on his work with the Rockman EXE manga and other topics.

Rockman 11 OST Wins "Legend Sound Award" at "PlayStation Game Music Grand Prize"

Earlier this Fall, PlayStation held the “PlayStation Game Music Grand Prize” were user could vote for their favorite video game soundtracks released between April 1st, 2018 to July 31st, 2019.  The ranking was determined by the number of plays on Spotify and user voting through comments.

To the surprise of many, Rockman 11 Original Soundtrack was among a list of 18 nominees and even took home an award. Find out how it ranked after the break!

Celebrate Valentine's Day with New Wallpapers and Mega Man 11's OST on Steam

While the Rockman Unity App hasn't uploaded any new wallpaper's for this month, Capcom themselves managed to sneak a few out that you might like.

The three mobile wallpapers pictured above were designed by the Rockman 11's UI team (via Rockman Unity's Twitter account and blog. Thee Roll-themed wallpaper on the right was specially created to celebrate Valentine's Day. The bottom wallpaper is for your desktop. It's a hi-res version of the Mega Man 11 Original Soundtrack cover art. You can download all these wallpapers right here!

Speaking of which, the soundtrack is now available to be purchased Steam for  $12.99 or 10,79€. It's also available to listen to for free on Spotify, as we reported some days ago.

Capcom Reports Strong Sales for Mega Man 11 (and MMX Legacy Collection 1+2)

Today, Capcom released their Financial Results for the 3rd Quarter of the Fiscal Year 2018. The quarter saw Capcom's highest profit in the company's history thanks in part to Mega Man 11. According to the report, not only is Mega Man 11 selling well but Mega Man X Legacy Collection 1+2 continues to thrive thanks to a "strong dedicated fanbase." More details after the jump!

Support Mega Man 11 at the PlayStation Blog Game of the Year 2018 Awards

Mega Man 11 has been nominated for "Best PS4 Game", "Best Art Direction" and "Best Soundtrack" at the PlayStation Blog Game of the Year 2018 Awards. It's unlikely the game will win when it goes against heavy hitters like God of War, Marvel’s Spider-Man or Red Dead Redemption 2 to name a few, but you can always show some support for the Blue Bomber!

"Imagine-Nation" Rockman 11 Special: "The Return of the Blue Metal Hero"

Back in October 2nd, popular NHK World TV show Imagine-Nation aired an episode mainly focused in Rockman 11. The program provides a closer look at Rockman 11's creation, covering things like game design, sound design, and the team's overall goal while creating Rockman 11. They also had the chance to interview Kazuhiro Tsuchiya (Producer), Ryota Fujii (Lead Designer), Koji Oda (Director) and Ryo Yoshi (Audio Director).

Imagine-Nation is a TV show that focus on introducing Japanese pop culture, specifically anime, manga and video games to overseas audiences. If you wish to learn more about the program, you can do it here.

If you want to see more behind-the-scenes Rockman 11 footage, you can always watch the 5-part "Making Of" series Capcom uploaded to their YouTube channel. It's almost 60 minutes of footage covering the start of the development, the characters, stage design, boss and special effects designs, and sound design. Although it's only in Japanese, you won't be totally lost if you can't understand it – there's plenty of visual information and stuff to see!

Celebrate Christmas with Rockman 11 Special Wallpapers

In the last couple of weeks both Rockman Unity and the official Mega Man Twitter account uploaded a set of Christmas-themed wallpapers designed by the Rockman 11's UI team. There's one wallpaper for each Rockman 11 stage composed of a Robot Master and their respective stage minions in the shape of a Christmas tree.

You can head over to the Rockman Unity blog to grab the eight wallpapers and two more. However, if you want the maximum resolution for the eight wallpapers above, you will have to check Twitter or download them from here.

Capcom to Close Off 30th Anniversary With "Rockman Goods Festa"

Rockman's 30th anniversary is winding down and Capcom intend to close it off in style. The house that built the blue bomber has announced the "Rockman 30th Anniversay Goods Festa", an event planned to take place in 13 different stores across Japan and the Hanayashiki Park (where Rockman Unite Final is happening).

At the Good Festa, fans can buy new and exclusive Rockman items and visit a mini museum with artwork from the entire franchise. There's even some unseen material from Rockman 11. The mini museum will reportedly be different in each shop so it's recommendable to visit as many stores as possible!

Rockman 11 x Monster Hunter Frontier Z Collaboration Due on November 21st

Originally announced back in September during the Tokyo Game Show, the collaboration between Rockman 11 and Monster Hunter Frontier Z  has been confirmed to kick-off on November 21st.

The collaboration allows players to actually play as Rockman. You can see our little guy in action in the trailer above!

Celebrate Rockman 11's Launch With New Mobile Wallpapers

What better way to celebrate the launch of Rockman 11 than a set of brand-new mobile wallpapers?

The first two come to us from the Rockman Unity app. One is pretty straight forward, just the main art for Rockman 11; the second one, however, is a bit more unique. It's an illustration from Yusuke Murata. (One Punch Man, Eyeshield 21 and designer of Dust Man and Crystal Man) The last two wallpapers come directly from the Rockman Unity twitter account and they are the work of Yūji Ishihara, character designer and art director of Rockman 11. Rockman 11 Original Soundtrack Cover Art and Vocal Theme Revealed!

Today Capcom finally revealed the covert art for the official Rockman 11 Original Soundtrack, drawn by no other than Ryuji Higurashi, Rockman 11 character designer. In addition to this, the soundtrack will feature an original vocal theme. It will be sung by Ayaka Fukuhara, the voice of Rockman.

The CD will be released on November, 14 for 3,200 yen.

Rockman 11 One-Shot Manga Announced

Coro Coro announced today they will be publishing a Rockman 11 manga by Ryo Takamisaki (author and illustrator of the Rockman EXE manga) in their quarterly magazine Coro Coro Aniki. The magazine goes on sale on September 15th for 667 yen.  Ryo Takamisaki confirmed on Twitter that this will be a a 26 page one-shot story. (i.e not ongoing nor serialized)

Mega Man 11 Demo is Live for US/EU PlayStation 4 and Xbox One!

Yesterday, Capcom US announced the release of the much-anticipated Mega Man 11: Demo Version for the US/EU Nintendo Switch eShop, with promise of the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One version releasing September 7th. 

Keeping to their promise, Mega Man 11: Demo Version is now available to play for US/EU via both systems! Links to both console versions as well as their US/EU counterparts can be found below:

New Mega Man 11 Boss & Stage To Be Revealed at Tokyo Game Show 2018

Capcom will reveal a new boss and stage during the Rockman 11 Special Stage at Tokyo Game Show on September 22nd, the company announced. The game will be demoed live on stage and will be streamed for folks at home via YouTube.
