Q&A With Eddie Lebron, Talks Of Mega Man X Sequel

Destructoid was fortunate enough to score a Q&A with Eddie Lebron, director of the upcoming MegaMan fan film. The interview touches on numerous subjects, but I found this particular portion very interesting:

Q: Sequel: would it be Mega Man 2 or Mega Man X.

Lebron: I want to do a Mega Man X movie, just because I could get a lot more in depth, a lot more ballsy with it, darker and less colorful. If I felt I had the resources to do X, I would, but X would probably cost time times the resources of this. Borderline future war, James Cameron type stuff.

A dystopian-Terminator-esque MMX film?...I can sort of imagine that.

Eddie Lebron's film is set to premeire in New York sometime this winter, followed by an online version viewable to all. Look forward to it!

  1. oh god, I hope they don't make that. In fact, if a time traveling bus went to before they had that idea and ran them over I would be fine with it.

  2. I hope they read it here.

Please dont make other one. You had Megaman fanmade movie and it was so cheese and bad. Most of us dont like it, sorry.

Please save your hard work and don't make other sequel at all. Thank you.

  3. I have to agree above the post. Don't make another chessy movie like Eddie Lebron's. Leave it to the professional directors, like Steven Spielberg, Michael Bay or whoever wants to direct for Megaman or Megaman X. The fan movie is indeed not a worthy to watch, I'm afraid.

  4. Anon... don't speak for the Mega Man fan community as a whole. A lot of us are very excited about the movie.
Additionally, you can't say the movie was 'cheese and bad' as NO ONE HAS SEEN IT YET.

  5. Oh, what a trainwreck. >_< I can't believe Capcom is letting him do this! The first one is obviously crappy enough, as we've seen from the trailers. Don't make any more!

This is a disgrace to all Rockman fans everywhere. :(

  6. AsianSteev,

It is not up to you. We can say whatsoever we want and it is the truth that this movie and sequel are cheese, man.

We already saw the first megaman fan made and it was terribly. Let us speak our own opinion. We are fan but this movie is not what we have in mind. :)

  7. No, anon, you didn't see 'the first megaman fan-made' as it has not been released yet.
And what exactly isn't 'up to me'? Am I oppressing you somehow? I'm simply trying to make it clear that Anon does not speak for the fan community as a whole.
This film does nothing to hurt the Mega Man franchise or fandom, so I don't see why so many people are so upset about it. Why would you ask that no further films be made? If it truly is crappy, then just let it be. If someone makes some crappy fan-art or crappy MM cover song, nobody says gets this hostile towards it. Is it the scale of the project that bothers you? Honestly, what is it?

  8. Yea, it's the scale. People will hear of a Megaman movie a lot easier than they will of some stupid fan art on DA.

Though it's always been a lovingly cheesy series at heart, this just goes a bit overboard. :P

  9. No, the trailer is good enough and we already know it is very cheesy and bad fanmade movie. Maybe you like it, AsianSteev which I respect but if hollywood saw it then they would agreed with us.

  10. Yea, it's the scale and also the way they wear the armors and their appearance are terribly. Look at Roll ?? She dont know how to be actress and she dont know how to be like Roll. Look at this guy's character of Rockman/Megaman. He looks so fake and not look like a reality man he is today. He acts really ridiculous. The story is totally wrong. Also Dr. Wily looks terribly and Dr. Right is weird.

  11. A Mega Man movie should be made by hollywood and it would be cool. I totally agreed with those people.

UGH!!! It is TOTALLY cheesy movie, man! The fanmove is not a worthy to watch at all.. No way.

  12. Alot of you seem to think that most video game movies made by hollywood, don't suck, huh?Hollywood would probably make it worse.

  13. I am stupid... I admit it AsianSteev... lol

  14. Haha, call me a conspiracy theorist, but almost all of the Anonymous comments on this post have the same (bad) grammar.

  15. Yea, they do. XD Except for mine. lol He does that often.

I don't want Hollywood to make it. While I definitely disagree that it would be worse than fan-made, (where you got that idea is beyond me. :P Think Iron Man, Batman, etc.) I don't want any Megaman movies except animated ones.

The EXE movie, for instance, was great. That's Megaman's medium, games and cartoons-- not live actors.

  16. I meant mostly videogame movies.Doom movie any one?Comic book movies are often awesome however.

  17. Yea, and professionals who make good movies distinguish between the two. :P The comic book heroes got good movies because they were famous franchises and got big budgets. Megaman could be made into an acceptable hollywood movie, provided that the CG is good and that a good team is hired. (actors/directors/producers, etc.)

Which is precisely why this fan film sucks.

  18. If someone in Hollywood did make a Mega Man movie, they would probably be smart and make it completely animated. Like they are doing with the Astro Boy movie. Granted, there is a chance it will be a live action pile of shit like the Dragon Ball movie. But the Mega Man movie is a pile of shit B movie at best.

  19. What's all this talk about cheese? I love cheese! Therefore I love megaman!

I actually was pretty excited about Eddie Lebron's Megaman film

The fact that nobody has MADE a live action megaman movie was the part that made me enthusiastic about it... All the megaman media are cartoons...

Like that cutesy Japanese megaman cartoon movie, Wish Upon A Star I think it was called =S

It was boring as shit, I didn't understand the culture, and it was designed for kids around the age of 9... But heck, I loved it because it was Megaman!

Hollywood is running out of ideas, most of the movies these days are based on novels or a comic book or a children's cartoon... I'm sure if we waited long enough, they'll make a megaman one...

And yeah, if Lebron DOES decide to make a megaman x film, it better be gritty and violent and rated R+18 ... Like Robocop =D Then I'm sure it'll do alright

That's if he has enough money for like, exploding heads... And exploding cars... And exploding battle-damaged reploids... And exploding explosions...
