You Got MegaMan In My Pik-Nik Fries

It's amazing what one can find when they clean up their basement. Yesterday, I stumbled upon a very old (empty) can of Pik-Nik fries that featured MegaMan on its packaging. Lo and behold, it was a promotional item I saved back in 2002.

Pik-Nik foods partnered with Capcom back in 2002 to celebrate MegaMan's 15th anniversary, breaking their tradition of a "no promotion" policy. The promotion called for consumers to enter in a sweepstakes to become a "Capcom developer for a day", what became of the winners however, remains unknown (are you one of them?).

In addition, winners were also rewarded a $5,000 scholarship for a school of their choosing (boy, I could use that kind of money right about now). Oh what fun! I miss these little cross promotions.

  3. Ah, the old EXE promos. There was a VERY similar contest it seems on the Big Red package at about that time. I went to my Grandma's house, and there on the Big Red box (funny that she had it, we never drink Big Red. In fact, not sure I ever have even once in my entire life) was a pic of Rockman charging his buster. O_o If I remember correctly, it used the same "Become a capcom developer for a day" wording. I wanted to win it so bad, because I thought I'd get to see how the next EXE game was made and maybe make up a boss character. XD

    Seems so long ago... :(

  4. Hmm another case which brings back the feeling of the "rockman renaissance" when exe kind of added something new to the Rockman series. Those were good times. Heck, those were great times.

    I miss them.

  6. Strange place for a Mega man contest to take place. I could understand if it was on a bag of potato chips by Doritios or Lays but this. It just seems so out of place.

  7. Hey, you used the "you got ____ in my ____" meme! My God, you are so clever and hilarious, Protodude! Using phrases that were popularized by the tools and douchebags at 4chan really makes you look cool!

  10. the "you got in my" meme started from a Reese's commercial in the 80's.

The fact that Protodude knows his 80's nostalgia makes him cool.

  13. Very intersting contest, um the other C that posted here is not me, just to clarify. While it is obvious that his statement is a lie, I am not so arrogant.

  15. @The Fake C:

Arrogrance? I suppose that is as good a word for it as any. I was rash and undisciplined with my one day as a Capcom producer. I thought I could make Megaman X cool again. All the kids these days love 3D, I thought. And everyone loves new characters that come out of nowhere and usurp the spotlight from the title character.

I take the blame. I'll never enter another contest again.
