Coro Coro Boss Contest Winner Announced

At long last, Coro Coro Comics have announced (via 2channel) the winning design of the boss contest: "Clock Genius" created by Gotou san. Details are extremely slim but if the constellation theme in the design is any indication, we might be seeing a new Shooting Star Rockman coming to fruition. Maybe.

Whatever the case, the boss is said to belong to an upcoming Rockman game.

More details to follow.

UPDATE: Further postings on 2ch seem to indicate the game that the boss correlates to is undetermined.

Thanks for the scan Tim.

  2. God DAMMIT.

Just what we need, another Star Force.

  3. Another Shooting Star, eh? As much as I like the Shooting Star series, if a fourth shooting star DOES come it better have some major upgrades or revamps to the gameplay to keep my attention.

If it starts being milked like how they did with EXE, I'll probably lose interest in Shooting Star too soon enough.

  4. Clock Genius eh? Sounds like Star Force. Then again it could just be a new series in the EXE/SF vein.

  5. There's nothing wrong with Ryuusei/StarForce, so get over it. *keeps fingers crossed*

  6. :\ It's obviously a Star force and has been since day one. Why do we all think this is so mysterious?

  7. Well we still have basically nothing to go on...

  8. No! No! No! Why dont they just make Megaman legends 3, Megaman X9, and Megaman 10 ? Enough with this other Force game.. Oh man!

  9. They released complete works for SF, and I doubt if it is gonna be SF series.

BUT I REALLY WANT MEGA MAN X9 AND DASH3!!!

all right... likely to be star force, but not sure.

  10. @Anon10: Well, for a number of reasons. First, they just released MM9, so MM10 is out of the picture for a little bit. Two, RnR is their currently alive franchise that is making money, and they are a company that needs to make money. Three, MMX has 8 entries and MM has 9, so they don't want to constantly add new games willy nilly. That will kill of the potential shelf life of those series, they'll want to spread out the adding of more. Four, MML was a commercial flop so they'll need good justification to make a third one. It will probably come eventually but Capcom isn't going to assume it will sell well just because of the several hundred fanboys who clamor for it. It needs to be a bigger number and they need time and money to make it. In the current recessed video game market that is obsessed with FPS's, MML3 isn't a surefire way to keep their company afloat. Five, RnR and EXE have their boss design competitions in this magazine because the audience who reads the magazine is the target audience of those games. Six, why would they abandon a good series just because a few stingy whiners complain about it. There's nothing keeping them from making entries for both/any/all series. Seven, these games are not bad so shut your trap and let us enjoy them.

  11. Kinda saw this a mile away. .. sigh. O well might as well wait for the Captivate '09 or the next E3 to find out something else besides the StarForce series.

  12. The 2ch update makes me happy, but I don't see how everyone thinks/thought this has something to do with Starforce. This boss could be configured to work within any of the games, aside from Legends, of course. (Eh heh...)

  13. Most likely another SF game, and this seems reminiscent of a constellation droid, or perhaps even the obscure Clock Men or one of the other various time-themed bosses out there (he also reminds me of Dyna Man from the PC game for some reason). Anyway...Don't give up hope on seeing a MMX9 or even a MM10 yet...

  14. An ugly boss design. Why tons of watches in his body, with pointers!? :) This is so primitive after all, and worst if you think inside the Ryusei no Rockman universe, as everything is very futuristic. :)

  15. It's really up in the air, still, I think. It could even be a mid-boss for a classic game, even. (One that they bothered naming.) *waits for leak at Captivate*

  16. what if Clock Genius is "ZACK"!!!! NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

  17. From this image and the information given I believe it will be a new series in the EXE/Ryuusei sidelines. Ryuusei is dead due to the release of the Complete Works, it would be really odd to see a forth due to it.(Complete Works usually are detailing the end of the series.)And I truly doubt another EXE game will come out. I believe they have learned their mistake with the Ryuusei and are gonna try over again, let it be right this time, the showing of this boss gives me fears of something bad...

  18. Well judging by the boss' look all I can say is...

YET ANOTHER MOTHERFUCKING STAR FORCE GAME!!!!

Srsly I hate Capcom now, it used to be my favorite videogame franchise but not anymore, what the hell where are MM10, MMX9 and ZX3!!!

    I'm fucking setting a bomb at Capcom's headquarters -.-

«Seven, these games are not bad so shut your trap and let us enjoy them.»

No maybe you are right...they are not that bad

    BUT

    It's just not rockman anymore

I don't want to move my character on a grid

1- I want a 2D rockman, maybe a 3D one, where I can move freely in a stage (like MM, MMX, MMZ, MMZX, MML)

2- I want an action game, not a rpg/pokémon game with random battle, which take me 6 months to complete. I'm 25 now and, usually, I don't play video games very often like when I was kid

so anyway, that's why people complain about it...ok maybe not...it's because these series sucks !

    :)

  20. if this turns out to be some kinda first person shooter game im going to be pissed off!!!
    those games suck!!
hell i would be happy with seeing a new battle network game or starforce game enter the circuit but if this turns out to be a fps im gonna stop playing megaman!!

    ReplyDelete
  21. Why do you get to deem it "not rockman" anymore? So it doesn't follow the original formula, it's not Rockman? Capcom says differently, as do many other fans. Rockman would die FAST if new things weren't introduced.

You keep saying, "I want." So you get to decide what's best, eh? Those of us who have been Rockman fans since the original was released on the NES and like the new series don't matter?

  22. Yes I like new 2-D series but not pokémon rockman games

    the end

you know with the success of rockman9, capcom could bring Rockman Zero 1-4 on wiiware wih new graphic ans new stuff

    this could be great :)

but no...they will release another sucky game...

  23. Y'know, I have to say it's getting to the point where I'm starting to dislike the older series just because of the downright rabid fans of it. I enjoy the older games as much as the next guy, but every time I come here I see "OMG SF SUX OLOLOL." I'm not saying all the comments are like that but I am starting to get a little pissed off by all the comments basically saying anyone who likes SSR is an idiot.

Anyways, I wouldn't mind SSR4, though to be honest I'd prefer they didn't do another network series. Dunno why, but I get the feeling a brand new network series wouldn't be that great.

  24. Why couldn't Capcom just drop the Mega Man/Rock Man name off the Star Force games from the very beginning? To me, it feels like Capcom just slapped the Mega Man name on it so they could sell more to both hardcore Mega Man fans and newbies of the series.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Ahehe, exactly? That's what capcom's out to do, make money. But if they didn't have the megaman name on it, it wouldn't be made at all. They set out to make new Megamans. Hmm... why didn't nintendo leave the Mario name off of galaxy? It was pretty stupid of them to do that, wasn't it? Nooo, it's not mario at alll... it's got gravity and 3d-ness. :P If you look at it like that, all the classic series sequels and X could be considered money makers too. :P There's no difference--except that you don't like the new ones and want to dump on them.

All this hating on the newer series' has killed my love for the old ones too. I used to love X and classic until I started associating them with whining nerds who complain about the "n00bs." Enough is enough. Enjoy the ones you like, let everyone else enjoy the ones they like.

  26. The people who are actually talking sense and NOT simply dissing the Star Force/ Shooting Star series because it's not 2D or whatever, I give you props for having a brain. The Classic/X/Legends fanboys are starting to get annoying. I mean, seriously. You want to play the exact type of game, over and over and over again? It's why they made ZX, Star Force, and such. To be NEW. This is exactly what rabid Sonic fanboys are doing to Sega now.

  27. Well it looks like the boss might be for Rockman EXE Operate Shooting Star Crossover game that is coming out in winter. I'm sensing time travel ;P
