Mega Man Star Force Legacy Collection May Include In-App Purchases

Capcom may be planning optional in-game purchases for Mega Man Star Force Legacy Collection, based on language found in the game’s Steam EULA

Shortly after the pre-order trailer went live, the Steam page quietly published the End User License Agreement. One section notes the game “may include an optional function to purchase in-game virtual currency and virtual items.” The wording is broad, but what stands out is that the Mega Man Battle Network Legacy Collection EULA contains no similar reference. In fact, no other Legacy Collection does.

One possible connection is "Battle Points" (BP), which appear to be tied to online play, though their purpose has yet to be explained. At the moment, profile card stickers are the only confirmed feature that could reasonably align with purchasable items. Other possibilities, such as systems similar to Card Traders, are harder to square given how Battle Cards are traditionally tied to save data and folder progression.

It's important to note that the EULA doesn't confirm microtransactions outright, only that the functionality may exist. This could be Capcom laying the ground work when or if they decide to pursue that route. Still, its inclusion marks a noticeable departure from past Legacy Collections and is something worth keeping an eye on as Capcom shares more details about the online mode.

Thanks to AstroStelar for the tip!

  1. Lame if true. But what are the odds this is just an updated general Capcom EULA? Do any other games after BNLC have this?

  2. Can't even guess what in game purchases would be for a game like starforce.

  3. Is the intention of our beloved company to implement new battle cards? Because that would be interesting, I don't see what would cause the need for optional purchases unless they are skin.

    1. They should just drop another Battle Network with updated graphics and watch the money print itself.

    2. Naw, we’re good for BN, it’s a closed chapter. Now a new Legends game with updated graphics and open world gameplay? That has potential.

  4. No, please no. Unless if its something just to speed up progress, but still achievable/unlockable in-game. Like with what they did in DMC 5 (extra red orbs, etc), then i really don't mind.

  6. I'd hold off on grabbing the pitchforks just yet, companies will tend to use template policies/terms for the sake of cost and convenience, and this can just be an example of that.

  7. I'm curious if it could be for something like Brother Band related things for online play or similar.
