Blast From the Past: MegaMan Mania

Oh the collection that never was, I die a little inside every time I see this.

MegaMan Mania, the complimentary collection to the Anniversary Collection, would have compiled all the GameBoy titles into one convenient GBA cartridge. After countless delays, the project was canceled due to the "misplacement" of the original source code. Regardless, MM Mania producer once stated the collection would make the jump to the Nintendo DS instead, but we've yet to see anything come of it. Sad, sad, sad.

  4. I was excited for this too. Even though I have the original games. Mega Man 4 and 5 on Gameboy are two of the best MM games ever and it's a shame more people didn't get to play them.

  6. I suppose the pre-made version in the demo is very buggy and unplayable in parts..? The screen is from a Gameboy Player.

  7. Ugh, so depressing. I remember how excited I was for this back in the day. When I found out it was never coming, I was heartbroken.

Mega Man IV and V/Rockman World 4 and 5 are two of my most favorite Classic games ever. What soundtracks!

  8. I never really learned it was never coming. I kind of just slowly forgot about it. :( Either that, or I thought it went along with those games over at http://www.mmhp.net that were typos, like X7 on the GBA. XD

  9. I don't get it... Why to they use the Sakura theme from Street Fighter Zero 2?!?!

  10. Why, Capcom, why?! I never heard that the source code was misplaced, I just got a cancellation notice on my preorder. I think I had that thing preordered for a year and a half. It was so long they couldn't just refund the money to my card, they had to send me a check because the original charge was so old.

  11. I wish this game had actually been developed as well. I can appreciate how much goes into game developing, but in the end, it wouldn't have been that hard to finish this project, regardless of whether or not they lost the source code (I mean, they could have dumped the original code from the old carts and then just worked on coloring the games and updating whatever they wanted from there).

Anyway, I got in touch with Capcom a couple years back (2007 maybe?), and they said the project had been scrapped, which makes me sad.

Still, I hope they consider doing a complete remake of at least one of the games along the lines of MMPU, like say, MMV?
