Rockman EXE Operate Shooting Star Website Opens *UPDATE*

Capcom of Japan has opened a teaser page for Rockman EXE Operate Shooting Star. Right now all that's available is a message to fans from Takeshi Horinouchi (producer) confirming that OSS is a remake of the original Rockman EXE. Full transcript below.

Courtesy of The Mega Man Network:
" As we head towards Rockman’s 25th anniversary, we are beginning to work on various projects, both big and small, thinking of what activities we’d like to work on. And though the Rockman EXE series ended three years ago, we’re receiving a strong sentiment from everyone saying “We want EXE!” So, we the development team are thinking of this splendid title Rockman EXE: “Let’s try doing something again…” …That is, I myself wanted to see Rockman EXE and Netto one more time. Therefore, our next title is such. This game’s inspiration is actually a celebratory image drawn by the designer for Rockman’s 20th anniversary. From that time, I’d secretly been thinking “In time we should try something neat with ‘EXE’ and ‘Ryuusei’.” Thus, our next project “Rockman EXE Operate Shooting Star” has come to be started. Essentially, this is a Rockman EXE 1 remake for the DS, porting it and adding something extra. You the fans may be wondering, what sort of theme comes with combining EXE and Ryuusei? This is something that EXE fans of course, and Ryuusei fans as well, will enjoy. Details will be published the middle of next month, so please wait a little longer. So everybody, until it goes on sale, please look forward to seeing Rockman’s and Netto’s friendship! From here on, please give us your support. "

UPDATE
: Last night, the Japanese Satellite Server webpage saw an update of its very own. If you access the main page, you'll be greeted with a rather interesting message:
"Currently, it sounds like the Satella Police are secretly developing a new program to be included in Wizards. It’s rumored that if used one “can control time” but… is something like that really possible?"
A possible OSS storyline hint? Speculate!

This is great! A new info!

  2. Awesome. Awesome. Awesome. I just knew it would be a remake, it was too obvious. I personally am very happy it is. A cross over would scream "desperate move to think of something new". Which is why I think recreating a successful masterpiece is a smart move, perhaps even making it even better! I hope there is WiFi play. That would make me shit bricks. As they say, though, if it isn't broken, don't fix it. Don't disappoint me Capcom!

  4. So, it's official, huh? EXE is back. Okay, Capcom. Let's see what you can do.

  5. I am not particularly happy, especially if he means "port" as literally as it seems. Since it HAS to be a remake now, I would much prefer a total overhaul. EXE1 is very dated.

EXE1 was not very good in my eyes, once you get past the whole "it's the first in the series give it a break" crap.

  6. I still don't get the point for Geo and Mega Rockman to be in there...weird....

  7. Years before and still to this day they recieve strong sentiments of, "We want X9!" "We want Legends 3" but hey, you know what? I'm not gonna complain. I'm pretty happy with this.

  8. Let's see where the Blue Shooting Star, SS Rockman, fits in!

  9. Haha, this is great! I'm surprised for once, that Capcom listened to fans wanting an old series. (Perhaps their other projects are Legends 3 and X9?) The amount of candidness and specific messages from the developers on this game seem strange. (Even though we barely know anything yet!)

I really hope they do a smashing job with this. And go more into the characters, perhaps Saito's story more. I'm excited! :D Not much else to say, since all speculation has been said!

    *Dances in happiness*

Though I'm a bit worried about "porting it and adding something extra" rather than just leaving it at "remake for the DS." :S

  10. The only disapointing thing is that there's no title BGM on the website.

  11. Bah, no sound? Fail!

  12. Wow, just his excitement makes me excited and I could care less about EXE. Well, I take that back, I really like the first few games but I got tired of the formula by the 5th one. Soooo, maybe I would enjoy this one. But he says "port" instead of "remake", that makes me kind of nervous....

  13. A remake with SSR elements? I'm disappointed. I'll end up buying it regardless, but I'm disappointed that it's just a remake.

  14. Saw this coming a day after the remake was confirmed. I kept thinking to myself "Well how would Clock Genius fit in, they must have a crossover being made?"
No, I can understand how he fits in now, not to the remake of course but to a fourth installment of the Ryuusei series. Concepts of the final forms if the game were shown if they made a fourth. So it only makes sense now, were going to see Ryuusei 4 pop up later.
I truly doubt any crossover plans now, he basically said they wanted to do something with Ryuusei and EXE, and this would be it.

  15. Also, just noticed a little slideshow when you go to the site showing previous titles of EXE Games.

  16. This is awesome finally we get to see megaman.exe in 3-D! hope the the sprites are in 3-D when you walk around, also they really need to fix the net in this remake I got lost so many times. Capcom you better use the battle system from battle network you gave the starforce battle sytem a chance but sadly not many people liked the new system in starforce.

  17. TMMN also notes that RnR3's Satellite Server has been updated with new info related to a "time travel program".

  18. You know, this guy (the producer) seems to hope that the hobby games were...globally liked in the fandom...I kinda feel guilty of blindly judging them.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but don't you think EXE and SF games are too frustrating? Maybe it's just me...but I never liked the general idea of those series: the dinamic, platform jumping Mega Man most are familiar with, being forced into a somewhat-RPG styled battle system. And making a whole series of it. AND using the "Pokémon" formula.

But I think a little bit further and see that there was no better way of doing it...kinda sad when you notice what things Capcom had to do just to keep the series from utter oblivioness in Japan.

Related to the news, I feel somewhat hoped that this game may add the "quality" in the hobby games ^^.

  19. "And though the Rockman EXE series ended three years ago, we’re receiving a strong sentiment from everyone saying “We want EXE!”"

Curse you Takeshi! The Rockman DASH series fans have almost ten years screaming "We want DASH 3!"... and the X series fans are dying for a new game since 2005.

    ReplyDelete
  20. Well... I'll try this game anyway. I really liked the first EXE... still, I think Capcom should hear the other "strong sentiments".

  21. This is what i think :
A wizard called Genius has been used for testing the program, and became Clock Genius, the program works, but did make the wizard go out of control, so, Rockman, trys to take care of him, but he did go in EXE time because of Clock Genius.

    ReplyDelete
  22. @Felix - I wouldn't think the entire game would be 3-D, I would think it would be EXE 1, but in Ryuusei graphics and battle system.

  23. "Currently, it sounds like the Satella Police are secretly developing a new program to be included in Wizards. It’s rumored that if used one “can control time” but… is something like that really possible?"

Mmm...so that's why Clock Genius won the contest. That is SO CLEVER! ¬¬.

...unless they do something unexpected story-wise with that "time controling" ...which they will, right? :/

  24. I wish it were all 3D, like that never-released BN5, but I seriously doubt it would happen.

As much as I'd rather just have a new EXE7 that changes a LOT around so it feels new, instead of a remake, I'm happy to get anything. Who knows, someday down the line when the EXE fans are considered oldbies too, we'll get a revival game. Or perhaps just real PET's.

    /hopeful sarcasm

  25. Rewritten dialog and more in-depth story with the characters please!

    New graphics would help.

  26. @The Watcher, why don't you be patient for a minute, and let them do their job for the projects for 25th anniversary.

  27. WOW what an amaing update, is there something in ryuei3 that no one has found or you know like a special feature? maybe not but it is exciting!

I have a feeling that they just might make 2 versions. One will be with Rockman.EXE where you play in Rockman.EXE's point of view in the same story. The other game will be with RnR where you play in RnR's point of view in the same story line. Or it might be like Double Team DS where you have both of the versions in one game.

  29. @One of you other anon's:

Not happenin'. This isn't that big of a production. They're apparently doing just a "port with a little something extra", not even a whole remake. There's no chance they'd make two entirely different games. Especially since the emphasis is on REMAKE.

  30. The teaser page isn't doing much when I go to it. The words appear in the middle (I didn't have time to read them), then nothing else. I don't see both Rockmans. Then, whenever reenter the site, the words don't even show up. (Besides that, youtube's going weird for me. I can't see videos, my mail, or comment)

  31. Update your flash player. :D Also try Ctrl + F5 for a hard refresh. If that doesn't work, try a different browser. :P

  32. One that can control time? Clock Genius. Without a doubt in my mind. Its all coming together! But where does he fit in...

    ReplyDelete
  33. If I may speculate...

If remember correctly, BN1's multiplayer and armor system was garbage. So this is obviously more than a remake. Also, the two series are known for their enjoyable multiplayer and version differences. BN1 didn't have versions. It has to be more than a port! Or they would make the terrible mistake of joining these two for a 1-player game.

Also, look at the URL of the teaser site. It has /rockman. Then remember the other two Megamen from the original teaser. This would mean that more than one page could go under that directory. If the pattern is the same then it would be possible that a remake of Megaman 1 with an X crossover could be in the works. And, this seems like a stretch, but the multiplayer could be across series like something we've never seen before.

  34. I predict that Colock Genius travells back in time and brings Geo etc along with him to ACDC Town at teh begining!

Actually megamac...its both crossover AND remake :D

  36. It won’t be wrong to say that the IT sector has made the world stand up and take notice of the countries like India. India’s IT poweress is one reason why such massive deals like the Tata Chorus deal and the Hindalco Novelis deal could get shape and turn into India’s favor. Had it not been for the IT sector, there were chances that these multi million dollar deals would not have matured the way they have. http://www.infysolutions.com/resources/resources.html
