Insight On Removed MMSF3 Content

Seth Killian graciously contacted Capcom Japan regarding the absence of numerous features in Mega Man Star Force 3. Below is a breakdown of each removed feature followed by Japan's response:

- Noise Kaizou Gear
This is a set of licensing item (cards), so it’s not available in US territory.
* But, we’re distributing “White Cards” (one specific kind of cards available in this Noise Kaizou Gear) on our official website.

- Rezon Cards
This is a part of “Noise Kaizou Gear”, so it’s not available in US territory.
* We’re not planning to distribute them on our official website. "

- Secret Satellite Server
This is a booklet published by Capcom Japan, and it’s not available in US territory.
* But, we’re distributing some of the “Cipher Codes” (which are included in this booklet) on our official website.

- Meteor Server
If this means the “Meteor Server” which the powered up boss appears after collecting certain number of stars on title menu, it’s available in US version, too.

Seth also confirmed that the decision to remove content was not the US side's doing, but an overall licensing issue.
"For the record, nobody on the US side made a decision to remove any content--it seems to be a licensing issue. There will be some additional free content coming to Wii-ware soon, as well as more website content, but that's the best info I could get at the moment."
Additional content will be in the form of battle cards available via the Wii's Nintendo Channel and DS Download Stations at select retailers in mid July.

  1. how could licensing issues cause content from this game to be removed? i can understadn with tatsunoko vs capcom, but in this case it just confuses me

  2. They managed to pull through with the Wave Command Cards, and they were terrible. This is really a shame. After all the promotion along with the dub, you'd think they'd throw us another bone ad gives us the Noise Mod Gear too. This is infinitely depressing.

  3. Yup, I stated that in my post on that topic, *Im Robert btw* and it really made no sence to me either. Licensing issues? What? o_0 Yeah, but w/e the case, the so called secret cards or w/e were suppose to be getting via DLC should be none other than AcidArrest and CrimsonMeteor. They will probably release Rogue ZZ as a dlc Boss as well.

  4. I've would have rather waited a bit longer till they got the licensing problems fixed than to suffer with the quick PvP Battles. (I've only met 1 person who has above 2000 HP)

    @MMXU
Rogue ZZ is already fightable you don't need DLC all you need to do is have your library complete, Sirius Star, and Beat the game. Mega Rock posted how to fight them.

  5. By licensing issues they most likely mean the production of actual cards. They either don't have the funds, contacts, or desire to produce them. Not the same kind of licensing issue as with tatsunoko.

Or perhaps whoever distributed the cards for SF2 wasn't on board this time.

  6. I think it's a bunch of bull. Because Capcom and Prima made the WCCK

  7. @Lucien H.

I think you're wrong because this isn't the WCC now is it?

  8. Then why did they bother to translate the things then...

  9. My question is, why don't they work these things out BEFORE hand. Like this: Okay, we're capcom of japan, we're making a game, we're 99% sure this game is going to be localized in other areas. HEY! MAYBE we should tell anyone we're working with that they must agree to allow their work to be sold overseas!

I mean seriously, it's like they're always amazed that a game is being shipped overseas. "

HOLY COW! IT'S GOING TO AMERICA? HOW OFTEN DOES THAT HAPPEN? HOW COULD WE POSSIBLY HAVE FORSEEN THIS SCENARIO? OH, IF ONLY WE HAD SOME WARNING AND COULD HAVE KNOWN TO HAVE WORKED THESE ISSUES OUT BEFOREHAND"

  10. Makes me wonder if this isn't why Battle Network 6 got neutered during localization.

  11. its probaly a licensing issue with the publishers of the books who may have exclusive rights to the things in japan. if that's it then its not capcom's fault at all. Fixing licensing is a lot harder then just asking for it there is a lot of law involved international laws are even worse.

  12. They always translate unnecessary things. It doesn't seem like too much of a loss. But I would have like some sort of literary merchandise.

  13. I would to, mega rock. Either the Complete Works, or something to do with these locked features.

  14. It seems Prima got shafted for printing the book for SF2, but nobody bought it because GameFAQs had all the codes on SF2's Codes page. I don't think Prima wanted to throw away money a second time, so Capcom of JAPAN punished the American players.

    That, or what Crono said.

@Carda: Oh really? So why did CoA add in all the e-Reader only missions to BN6 instead of not including them at all?
