Rockman Online Launching Next Year

We're going to have to wait a bit longer for Rockman Online to roll out. According to a recent financial earnings report, Neowiz Games are planning to launch the MMO in the second half of 2012. The game was previously on track for a late 2011 time frame.

While there's still no word on beta testing, the report notes Neowiz will once again be a prominent force at this year's G-Star, a gaming trade show in Busan, South Korea. Considering Rockman Online is being touted as one of, if not the flagship title of Neowiz's 2012 portfolio, there's a good chance it will resurface there. If it does show, expect a plethora of new details, media and maybe a playable demo. Don't forget: it's been a good year since we last saw the game in action. Who knows what it's like now?

G-Star 2011 is said to be putting a large emphasis on "internationalization", according to MMO Site. I'm not one to speculate (lol), but this could be the ideal time to announce a worldwide Rockman Online release. That's something a lot of people would like to see happen, certainly.

Hope for the best. Expect the worst. Stay tuned!

  1. It'd be nice sure but I don't see it getting anywhere much besides the rest of Asia, the MMO market simply does not do well in the west for it to come here someone would end up eating a substantial cost. I just really don't see it happening.

  5. actually i hate the concept of this game, look... every player looks the same... i wished the characters are just plain reploids which we can upgrade not just X,Zero etc... like grandchase... plus the music doesnt feel like mega to me... (im just saying)

  6. > Hope for the best. Expect the worst.

Given the last two huge Rockman games in the works were cancelled? Tell me about it... Still, I have hope. This one isn't being made by Capcom themselves, after all.

  7. I have big hopes for this game, GO NEOWIZ! (and give us the game in occident too) XD

  8. Capcom better not cancel this one too, we've already had two much anticipated Mega Man games killed off by Capcom this year, let's not have a third!

  9. Yep, a whole year so they can just quietly cancel it.

  10. Nice?!...Megaman X i am so eager to play you

  11. even if it is in another country, can't you still play it? i mean, people do that with the chinese farmville, and the online japanese harvest moon game. granted, it'd take some getting used to, but if it's not region locked, i'd consider it anyway. get some english speaking friends, and go on a maverick hunt! (lol, that sounds so corny.)

  12. I'd so play this. Too bad it won't see the light of day in the West. =[

  13. Honestly who gives a shit about this game? This game will never come to America why even cover it?

  14. @Anon9: May be be the only new MM game seeing release for a long time. That's one reason to care.

Not too happy to hear this. I'm hoping it pulls through, but...

  15. I hope we do get this game... *fingers crossed*

  16. Finally, a Mega Man game! XD

Capcom seems unable or unwilling to develop those as action/Free Running RPG/platformers nowadays, leaving those for others like Inti Creates and Neo Wiz while they only publish it.

They tried to make the fans work on MML3, but as they only let them contribute in small events instead of actually programming and composing for it, it didn't met their top-secret criteria to finish the game as fast as possible so they could move MML3's staff to a fighting game or survival company horror.

  17. No need to rush to conclusions that the game will suck. It's still in development, possibly -early- development, given the newly pushed-out release date. Why can't we just be glad it's not cancelled, people?

Like I've always said, I don't care if the game never leaves Korea - I'm playing it. This wouldn't be the first Korean MMO I play. And I'm sure others will do the same.

  18. I will import the game for the solo mode :)

And maybe there will be a International release, we will see....

  19. @even if its in another country anon

It's a korean game, and if you're a big MMOer like me, You know they region lock everything. You'd have to get an illegal IP first.

@Anon who hates the concept of the game

There's been a lot of extremely good MMOs were you cant exactly customize your character. I believe Rusty Hearts is one.

  20. @ September 27, 2011 8:56 AM Anon:

You might still be able to play on the Korean servers, but you're either going to need a proxy IP, or even worse, a Korean SSN, which just about everyone here won't have in a legal fashion.

That said, I don't understand the pessimism regarding this game possibly not coming out in the West. It's NeoWiz, not Capcom. Sure, it's a Capcom licensed game, but I'd think NeoWiz has more control over where this game is going. And considering NeoWiz has a small branch here in the US at the very least, they would be stupid to not jump at the chance of pushing a game that may make them noticed here in the States.

It might take a year after the Korean official launch for the game to get here, though. That is the usual case with Korean MMOs that do make it stateside.

  21. Thanks God that the game won't be canceled like "others"

  22. Can't wait to see it released. Here's hoping we can play in the west too.

  23. The only thing I don't like about this game is the fact that the characters aren't the real X, Zero, blahblahblah.

    ReplyDelete
  24. For those that don't realise the scope of the region lock on this thing. Google KSSNs and Korean MMOs and try to register for one. Any one of them.

  25. Yeah... a "delay"
    MMAC for GBA was "delayed"
    MMU was "delayed"
    DASH3 was "delayed"

It's pretty obvious delay in terms of CAPCOM Megaman games means canceled. The only DELAY is how long you have to wait to hear about it.

  26. At this point in my life, "hope" and "Capcom" simply no longer mix. If hell were to freeze over and this game were to see english release, then by all means I'd buy it, and probably love it, but after Legends 3 I can no longer get excited about anything the big bad C touches that doesn't have a solid release date.

  27. @Anon talking about character customization:

Mega Man Universe will have it, and also includes a stage creator. Good thing it and MML3 are going to be released soon. Wait a minute... *censored* Capcom!!!

  28. You guys really should look up the concept of "outsourcing" you don't get to retain the right to cancel a game when you do it. Likely if capcom hadn't already outsourced this game it WOULD be canceled. Give up on asking capcom to bring it here they do not care. Neowiz is pretty much your only hope of ever seeing it here. And probably of ever seeing anything remotely of the X franchise agian ever. Capcom doesn't care about X and probably not about MM either.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Why is X all the way back there in that pic? He's the "Rockman" in Rockman Online.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Rockman Online will not die!

Regardles of Mega Man Universea and Mega Man Legends 3, they died horribly. Capcom murdered them in cold blood.

  31. If I had to guess, I would say that by "internationalization" they initially mean that it might be made available to more Asian countries than initially planned.

If that goes well, and if they get the go-ahead from Capcom (and who knows what they will think!), then sure, there's definitely a chance that the game will reach a non-Asian market.

I still hope that someone saves all the files of the game in case that doesn't happen so that private servers will be possible.
