Trading Figures Getting Localized?

In a bit of interesting news, to say nothing of unexpected, Bandai's "Super Model Spirit" Rockman Trading Figures might be making the jump to our side of the pond, if a poster at Comic Con is taken at face value:

Above, a display exhibiting the figures at Bandai's Comic Con booth, with a poster advertising the line under the "Mega Man" name. Considering the figures have been largely available in Japan since May, I see no other reason to have them on public display unless they intend to distribute them in the U.S sometime in the near future. Hey, it wouldn't be the first instance a recent Rockman product was re-branded for English consumers.

In related Bandai/Mega Man news, more candidates for the D-Arts line were revealed. Among the desired Mega Man characters are Zero (X series), Zero series Zero, Mega Man.EXE and Bass. These characters were selected via a poll held by Bandai. Hit up Siliconera for more info.

  1. If this is true...then does that mean I might be able to get an Airman figure for less money than if I'd imported it? o_o

  3. Did the packaging have English? Specifically, any reference to the name "Mega Man"?

  4. I can understand localizing a game, a movie, a book... but localizing figures? It just doesn't make sense. It makes no difference than if you bought them in Japan.

  5. Actually, the difference is in the price tag.

  7. I hope so, It's qiute hard for megaman collectors like myself to get ahold of some of these type of things. I would love a protoman to sit on my desk.

  9. I've seen the Japaneses one at Anime Jungle (located in Little Tokyo, Los Angeles, CA) and they go about $7. I don't think it's a bad price. But I do think that the figure could have been better painted, because that's why I didn't get one or two.

I am so getting Zero (X series but maybe both) and Forte is Bandai decides to make them. They need to make X too!

  10. I was actually there at the booth, they're not really localized versions. The booth employees had sheets of "mega man" stickers that they were putting over the "rockman" on the boxes. I was lucky enough to get an untouched case (though it was at $9 a figure) but i asked them to give me a sheet of the stickers just so i would have a "complete" set ;)
