High-Res Operate Shooting Star Coro Coro Scan

Provided by Juunasai, here's a high quality scan of the full two-page Operate Shooting Star preview from the other day.  There isn't any real new information, but the scans do offer a much better look at the battle system and a few new screenshots of the over-world.

Is it me, or do the battlefield sprites look a bit smoother than they did in the original game? Almost looks as if a filter has been applied...meh, maybe not.

Anyway, for complete details on the two page report, read up on last week's post here.

  1. Dude. While this game is slightly disappointing overall for its lack of new content... I'm still psyched. XD At least they changed EXE's mugshot.

You know, Rockman.exe won't be able to have a ryusei soul unison, but that's the RnR3 Rockman there, so they haven't ruled out an EXE noise change...

  2. Heh, I'm actually looking forward to this... A remastered version of EXE1? Hell yes! Not to mention that the RnR stuff looks like it's bonus content, the kind you usually see in any remake or port...

  3. Why oh why didn't they keep the new battle graphics? The pose in the old ones just looks so unnatural... Also, is it just me or is battle Ryusei Rockman's hair brown? O_o

  4. Wonder what it says underneath the cust screen at bottom left image.. Switching MegaMans during battle maybe?

  5. @Role: If by "remastered" you mean "with added maps." :\

  6. Why this lamer of Subaru is in EXE SERIE ?????

Shooting Star Rockman's hair was ALWAYS brown. (I'm pretty sure of that)

Looks the same to me. You're just used to less cartoony battlefields of the later games.

  9. @LuigiBlood: No, it's black. XD Subaru's hair is brown, but as Rockman it's black.

  10. @Anon2 > I just did replay the game, it's brown for sure.

For OSS, since i didn't play EXE1, it could be very interesting for me ^^

  12. SS RockMan's hair is definitely a purple color. It doesn't really matter what his hair is though...

This seems to list their exclusive abilities, but I don't think it's conclusive. DEFINITE unique abilities I can discern:

    -RockMan EXE
    ----------
    Program Advances
    -S.S. RockMan
    ----------
    Warrock Attacks
    Shield

I figured only EXE would be able to use PAs. Makes sense to me. Too bad they totally blow in EXE1... Lack of Dream Sword is disturbing. It seems to say something else about chips but I can't figure out anything except katakana. I'd guess only EXE can use the ADD function, too, which is what makes me think the abilities shown aren't all of them. I'd also think they would have the different amounts of chips available on the Custom Screen, too.

That art is really cool. Hope it becomes a wallpaper soon.

  13. Oh, I forgot to mention that it seems to make a big deal about Navi Chips... Can't figure out why, though.

  14. No! Old mugshots! I thought at least that portion would be remade. I hate how gray and dull the old mugshots looked. And old graphics, too. It's the old shockwave sprite. How disappointing.

  15. EXE's mugshot is brand new. Wily's however, isn't.

  16. Okay... putting together some translations from EUdict, it says something about RockMan.EXE being able to freely use the chips below... Which seems to mean the the second row, which obviously is accessed using the ADD function (this also makes me think it'll work like in EXE1, just with only two rows...). Also makes me think S.S. RockMan can only use top row, as in unable to use ADD... which would make sense. Limiting his chip selection like it was in SSR, albeit with one less chip. But hey, hey gets to use Warrock Attacks... so.

  17. I'm assuming the entire game's new sprites are only the custom screen (and probably only for EXE), SFMega's sprites and Lan/Megaman mugshots. The rest is IDENTICAL.

  18. Sorry Capcom. You need to work harder on your games to get any of my money.

  19. That purply color is what they use to shade the black. They use it sometimes on EXE Rockman too, and in several places it's clear that his hair is black.

  20. Art-wise, Subaru's hair is a brown color. The purple is being used in place of a lighter shade of brown(and most likely has a small amount of brown in it), while the near-black purple color represents darker shades. Look at it from afar, and it DOES look like brown hair with reduced size So yes, brown hair makes sense.

Also, anybody up for making an attempt at sprite hacking the data so that the sprites are replaced with their best versions?

  21. There are several cases where black is clearly black, like ShadeMan's legs, and KnightMan's hands (both of which have purple clearly shown on them as well). RockMan.EXE's and S.S. RockMan's hair colors tend to fluctuate anyway.
