Star Force DVD Set Discounted -- Again

A mere three months after the last discount, Amazon.co.uk has gone ahead and dropped the price of the Mega Man Star Force anime DVD set again, marked down to the low low price of £6.48 (originally sold for £19.99).  Not a bad deal at all, especially if you were a fan of the dubbed episodes. Keep in mind, you'll need a region free DVD player if you don't live in the UK!

Grab yours here while supplies last.

  1. I bought the box set recently during that price drop. I planned on writing a review to Protodude because I hoped it'd have more content, but this thing is the definition of barebones.

For one, that packshot on Amazon is a lie; it's not a "box" set; it's a normal sized DVD case with two discs inside. And just discs. There are also ZERO special features, or even audio/subtitle options. You put it in, go straight to an episode list, and that's it. And the episodes are identical to their Toonami Jetstream appearance.

I hoped there were some hidden gems in here when I saw that the back of the box was giving credit to the Japanese BGM composer, even going as far as to specifically mention "Heart Wave" as the opener (remember: the original BGM is the only content cut from the original). But even when I decrypted and ripped the DVD, the only oddity I found was that every episode is on each disc twice (meaning the whole 13 episodes could have fit on one disc).

Disappointing, to say the least... But still nice to have since it's the ONLY DVD release the anime has gotten in ANY region in the entire world, counting Japan.

Shipping from Amazon UK into the US is dirt cheap, too. After conversion and shipping and tax and everything, you can get this thing for about 15 USD. It's a steal.

  2. Last time I checked, Amazon UK doesn't ship to the US... And the
3rd party sellers from Amazon don't ship to the US either... Even though they say they do in the info...

That's funny considering they just shipped it to me a few weeks ago, and I live in West Virginia. (And the shipping was pathetically cheap.) =P

Even Amazon Japan ships to the US, but it costs about two arms and a leg. (20 dollars in manga would have cost me 50 dollars in shipping.)
