'Chip Tuned Rockman' Soundtrack Announced

Looks like we have ourselves a new soundtrack on the horizon...

"Chip Tuned Rockman" consists entirely of newly arranged chip tune-styled songs from the classic series. The 20 individual tracks have been arranged by different artists, each specializing in chip tune mixes. A full track listing and a lone sample track are available here.

The album is also said to include a booklet featuring interviews with the composers and artwork from series artists, Hitoshi Ariga and Shigeto Ikehara.

Chip Tuned Rockman will initially be sold at the upcoming Tokyo Game Show, and see a wide release on October 15th, 2009 for 3,000 yen (roughly $33).

  1. Don't get me wrong - I REALLY love the fan-remixes done via chiptune and other good 8-bit mixers, but this looks like it's going to be pretty darn nice! I'll be looking forward to it (and it's good that it's not that far off from now).

  2. I like inticreates' music anyway. I just wish the dollar would get stronger so I won't have to overpay on stuff. I remember when it was 140yen/1dollar. Ah, those were the days, I could actually afford the ridiculous shipping then.

  3. I'm excited, I like the music Inti releases, except for the sub par MM9 arranged soundtrack.
    I hope this one will be back to their usual standards.

  4. This isn't one track, is it? It's just 2 seconds of a bunch of songs that don't go together.

  6. I have to fix something in your post, Protodude. The soundtrack is made by 8-bit music artists from a few communities I visit, including 2a03.org and 8bitcollective.com, and if you look closely next to each track, you can see who each artist is.

    A few of them I know of are Chibi-Tech, Rushjet1 (who's swedish), Saskrotch and naruto.

    You can look for their 2a03 nsf archives online and hear some neat covers and original tunes. ^^

  7. It took me a long time to realize the first song was Roll's theme.

    Anyways, the mix was a big rush of nostalgia. Hopefully won't be another MM9 arrange.

  9. @Vixy: Interesting. So this is something published by IntiCreates, but the songs themselves are arranged by various fan-artists (for lack of a better term here)? Not that that's a bad thing - I think this will be good.

    I'm curious about this then; was this due to some sort of contest, are they getting paid for their arrangements, or how did they get chosen to be on this soundtrack?

  10. Sweet! I'm totally excited for this! Too bad they aren't remixing any of the X/Zero/ZX series music. :( Nonetheless though, I'm totally psyched that they've got 8-bit remixes of some Rockman Megaworld stages.

  11. Jesus christ those are awesome. I enjoy the clip of Blizzard Man's mix with the heavy drums. I will be either getting this or downloading this somehow, lol.

  12. @VixyNyan: correct, pretty impressive about Capcom taking care of the present chip tune compositions (NSF). ^_^;;
