Avoiding Bright Man's "Flash Stopper"

18 years after Mega Man 4's release, someone finally discovered how to successfully avoid Bright Man's "flash stopper" attack, notorious for freezing the player in their tracks while Bright Man unleashes some serious pain. YouTuber, RoahMythril, details how to pull off this marvelous technique below.

  1. I'd like to see someone be able to dodge all of Air Man's attacks.

But I'm pretty sure that's impossible.

Nice find, though. Mega Man games seem a lot more polished when everything is dodge-able without the use of upgrades.

  2. Those games were always way too hard. I'd like to retry them someday.

  4. But how do you do it on the Game Boy version?

  5. ...Is it sad that I identified the theme at the opening (when he did his vs. brightman screen) as being form MegaMari?

I still stand by that as hard as Megaman games can be, they don't hold a candle to MegaMari in terms of difficulty...

  6. @Soultrigger:

Dodging Air Man attacks depends a little on luck, if the tornadoes will have a open pattern, but is completly possible, if they don't, you have to do a perfect jump, but its still possible.

See a video of mine, doing e flawless battle against him on difficult mode:

  7. I've never picked up on this before, but it's sad in a way sometimes how enemies and bosses can be programmed (or how simply they can be programmed). Still, this makes sense, as Bright Man's weapon is rather powerful and cheap, so this gives him a "handicap" that doesn't allow him to constantly use it on you.

It makes me wonder what other Robot Masters may have some sort of coding like this?

  9. Maybe I'm forgetting, but I thought I always avoided getting hit by Bright Man by just making sure he froze me in between where his shots would have gone so they would pass by me, but it may have been he would jump on top of you afterwards. It's been a while since I played that now.....

Mega Man games don't depend on bullet hell and exact pattern memorization. The two games are extremly different on what makes them difficult and in no way fair to compare the two.
