Exploiting Mega Man 8's Mega Ball

Who doesn't love the Mega Ball? This is a weapon you can literally punt into enemies -- death by (practically) a kick ball. Humiliating. WMD capabilities aside, the Mega Ball can also be used to reach hard-to-reach areas. When timed properly, you can pretty much exploit the trick into ascending to staggering heights, and even cruise through stages without touching the ground! Keiji Dragon shows off these feats and more in his video compilation, "I Totally Like the Mega Ball."

You know that Bolt in Clown Man's Stage? This one? Yeah, it took me ten years to figure out you can ball hop to it. My mind was blown. Rush Cycle? What Rush Cycle?

Thanks for shooting this one in my direction, Keiji Dragon!

  2. I guess that's why they call it the (Makes Dr. Evil gesture...) MAGIC 8 BALL!

  6. Heh. I remember using the Mega Ball to save myself in the first Wily stage and to get the Bolts in Aqua Man's stage (and others) if I passed them, but I never thought to go from the bottom to the top of the area! Those look like a lot of fun. Warp Zone and Minus World? XD There are even three pipes in the opening stage!

But that Bolt in Clown Man's stage is a lot easier to get with Rush Cycle due to the short ceiling, unless you are really skilled with the Mega Ball. :P

  7. come to think of it, samus could do this long before mega man could. glad to see another arm cannon user besides Ms. Aran can pull off jumps using explosives!

  8. Very nice. I always love MegaMan 8 content, since it's my favorite game in the series. I don't care that everyone else else seems to hate it, or that Capcom won't bring MM to modern day consoles. At least I'll always have MM8 *sniff*
