EXE OSS Special Stage Report

At the Tokyo Game Show today, Capcom held a special stage event where some Rockman EXE Operate Shooting Star information was presented. Unfortunately, there wasn't anything really new, just a reiteration of  we've known for a little while now.  Summary below:

Producer, Takeshi Horinouchi took the stage to discuss a couple of the new elements added to the DS "remake" such as the inclusion of a bottom screen map (added to make navigating the internet easier), minor battle system tweaks and the addition of voice acting snippets courtesy of the Rockman EXE anime VAs. Horinouchi was particularly devoted to getting the actors from the show to reprise their roles for OSS.

Players have the option to play as either Rockman EXE or Shooting Star Rockman after a certain point in the game. SSRockman can lock onto foes from a far and will have his own unique set of "Shooting Star" battle cards. Still unclear how cards/battle chips differ from each other.  There's also details about a new program advance by the name of "Double Rockman", which summons both Rockmen onto the battle field to unleash a massive simultaneous attack.
Moving on, details for "Rockman Star Colosseum" were presented. If you've played around with the Sky High Coliseum in Star Force 2, you know what to expect here. Six players attempt to grab as many stars as they can in the allotted time. Players are able to use items and utilize a sort of "rock-paper-scissors" system to steal opponents' stars. Rockman EXE, Shooting Star Rockman and Blues are playable characters. Only a single cartridge is required to play.

Well, that's all for now. Expect more OSS updates tomorrow with the arrival of another stage event.

UPDATE: a few more additional screen shots from Inside Games and Famitsu.

  1. I think they make a wrong decision because it is going to be underrated sell. Scary.

They need to move on and focus on platformer megaman games since it is popular. Sigh.

  3. This is some good news for a change :)

i just hope COA are devoted enough to get the anime voice actors from the dub, and not just pick people up off the street!

  4. That greenish megaman is multiplayer, I played multiplayer once with my nephew and his megaman was that color. It's green/blue ish.

  5. Dear God, are they still hiding Geo's battle system?!

All battle pictures with Geo as a playable character are showing him on the middle row, except when he uses the Omega-Xis's attack...either it's too obvious Geo can't move freely like EXE, or maybe it's something else.

I'm really sure there's something weird about Geo's battle system.

  6. I am not fan of BN and SF so they are waste their time on this one as well. Sad, man.

  7. Repeat comments pretending to be different people again. :P

Am I just not versed well enough in SF lore or don't you need the wave world and wave roads for Ryusei Rockman to exist in the real world? Or am I stuck in Rockman.exe Beast? XD

  8. I was hoping a different Megaman title like the X or Legends series. . .damn we need a miracle. But I guess this is good news to those BN and SF fans out there.

  9. I hope they get Andrew Francis and Brad Swaile back for the English-language release!

  10. Protodude, have you heard of any armor transformations ect. Oh and weren't transformations and armor system both introduced in the TGS in the old EXE games. How many of you out there think that Capcom will let us use something like the armor system or styles or something.

  11. No new transformations that I'm aware of, though I suspect the BN1 armor system will remain intact.

  12. I'd actually rather they found a VA with a less surfer-dude voice than Andrew Francis. :\ Matches EXE horribly. In fact, I could do without all voice acting. English or not, it's cheesy and forced.

Now put Pixar in charge of it... and we'll talk.

  13. Hmmm... I wonder. If they give something like the armor system to EXE, than what will they give to SSR? Leo, Peaguses, and Dragon lol.
Please tell me they will add some kind of transformation.

  14. *runs in huffing and puffing*

Protodude! Do you know about a very awesome rumor that i just heard about??? I have heard that Capcom JP will be remaking every EXE game!!!!!! Course its not going to be very hard because it is supposed to be a "port" to the DS. Has anyone else heard of this rumor?? Have you Protodude?? Does anyone belive this rumor?? I have soooo many questions now that I feel like my heads going to explode!!!!!

  15. I doubt it. Perhaps if this were truly a remake, but it's not, so bringing them all to the DS in anything other than a compilation would be overkill, even for Capcom. Where do these rumors originate anyway? :P

  16. Multiplayer with one cart. That's new. That was a problem with the multiplayer modes of SF2 and BN5DS that required lots of players with the game to play. And looks like they're recycling the clouds background in one map. And where is Harp Note in all this? I'm assuming a fightable boss but what else?

  17. about the remake of every game.. it's probably gonna be like megaman battle network anniversary!

  18. Anon 1: "Popular"? Tell that to the sales numbers, as the EXE games have consistently outsold all of the other games.

Popular does not equal "I like this and I don't like the other, therefore what I like is popular and what I don't like absolutely sucks by deafult."

If anything, the EXE and SSR series have gained enough power to the point in which they are now a fact of the Rockman-related aspects of life.

From a purely business standpoint, it would look like having both fail has a higher chance of the Rockman series as a whole being stopped in its tracks instead of games being developed for the other Rockman series.

You DO NOT want the EXE timeline to die unless you want the Robotics timeline to be impacted negatively as well. Did you all not see what happened as soon as SSR sales dropped?

During the EXE/Zero era, Robotics timeline games were coming out at roughly the same rate as the EXE timeline games. Now they are clearly few and far between.

Anon with the remake rumor: You're trying too hard in making people hate the EXE fanbase even more. This past year I have lost so much faith in the general Rockman fanbase in terms of logic, but I doubt the fanbase is stupid enough to believe that.

Try again with a less obvious and less stereotypical attempt at a different time.

  19. Execuse me, but FYI, I love the EXE series a lot more than the other series. Actully, he is my favorite among all Megaman's. Plus, to prove that i am not lying, I will try to find that site, no, make that the 2 sites that talked about the rumors. Plus I think that maybe at the end of OSS, Clockman will travel to the BN2 era and SSR Rockman will have to go there now to fight Clock Man again. So Capcom might make another game or remake. Once again, EXE IS MY FAVORITE MEGAMAN OUT OF ALL OF THEM. I also didn't play any of the other Rockman games except, EXE, Shooting Star, and the Zero seires. If u could try to find the sites Protodude.

  20. I've done my fair share of searching both on english and Japanese fansites; no talks of rumors on either front.

    ReplyDelete
  21. WOW! I just did a bit of researching and found the sites for the rumors! He/She who wrote about them isn't lying. The person who whas calling him/her stupid better think twice. If the person who was calling the anon talking about the remake of evey EXE game stupid had done a bit of research on google than he would have found it too. Not to start an argument or anything 'kay?

  22. Why is the HP numbers misplaced?

    ReplyDelete
  23. Anon, would you be so kind provide the links to these rumors? I'll check into them.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Definatly. I will provide it to you as soon as I find them again, which will be the day after tomorrow considering I don't have much time tomorrow.
