Here's Some Rockman X DiVE Player Statistics

Capcom Taiwan have been lighting up their Facebook page with some numbers and statistics from the now-concluded Rockman X DiVE closed beta trial. Above you can see some general data gathered from the post-beta survey: players' ages, location and gender.  Read on to find out which characters and weapons were the most popular!

Don't forget to fill out the survey! There's a little in-game reward for everyone that participates!

  1. I assumed the 15-24 age group would be the most represented on a mobile game. Though, of course it might be because it was the beta.
The discrepancy between male and female players is also larger than i thought it would be.
I expected the busters to be popular weapon, however.

    1. I'm not surprised considering Mega Man came out in '87. Alot of people who played from the beginning are in their 30's and 40's now.

    2. @shrap, i thought of that too, but i assumed the older fans would'nt be interested about something on mobile. when i talked about it, it seemed like most of the people around my age (so 18-24) who where enthusiastic about it while the older fans where divided between thoses interested and thoses going "Bah! Back in the old days we played games normally on consoles and we liked it that way!".
But i guess i forgot to take into account that the ones interested in playing the beta would obviousely be the most dedicated fans, a lot of whom are over 30. after asking around a little, it seems the younger ones are okay waiting for the game to come out to see what it's like.

    3. Despite being a mobile, it doesn't look bad. It's not a shovelware like XOver or the X1 port. It's real game, that probably would of been a 3DS title.

And remember that Megaman fans are in a position were we have to support the series anyway we can.

  2. There's roughly 41% (without doing the math), i would be curious to see how theses are spread. Japan, Europe?

  3. Female players: 5%
    Male players: 90%
    What about the remaining 5%?

  4. Axl couldn't even topple Alia... Pathetic.

I'm male and 25-34 is my age range so I can see why that is the most represented. It is obviously very rare to see a legitimate young children interested in MMX. Even less so females. So that all makes sense.

Sabers absolutely SUCK in RMXD and Ultimate Armor is obviously sexy as heck so the discrepancy between that and the rest of the cast makes sense to me.

What doesn't make sense is the location demographics. I mean really U.S, we couldn't beat Taiwan? Yes I know this game is not aimed at U.S but we are U.S for goodness sake. Also was this not released to Japan, if that is not the case man Japan only gives a damn about generic JRPGs for sure. Capcom should take that as a lesson to work and sell Mega Man mostly to the west and not by bastardizing it of its identity. Keep Mega Man relatively the exact same way its always been, don't "westernize" it, the west already likes it, just push it more for the west as in adverts and release dates and such. Except when it comes to Mega Man RPGs, then reverse it. Push those in Japan.

    1. The survey only had the 6 choices displayed here, and a seventh "other" option. If you add up the percentage of theses six answers, you'll notice 41.3% is missing, i think we can pretty safely assume that theses 41% are spread between Japan, Europe (and it was'nt particularly advertised here, so i'm pretty sure EU does'nt exceed US representation), and a couple percents for the rest of the world. ad they included a "Japan" option, they would probably have between 14 and 20%. I think it's the oposite of what you assumed, they don't worry too much about the game's success in Japan so they focuse on other places.
As for the US and Taiwan, mobile games in general are much more accepted in Asia and the game is being advertised in Taiwan more than it is anywhere else, so it is understandable.
What i hope is that this get promoted properly in Europe when the game come out. I don't know why the MegaMan franchise often poorly advertised here (except maybe in the UK).

What's wrong with Alia? Or is this another case of blaming Alia for X5's oddly paced tutorial
      sequence?
Alia is actually pretty popular character believe it or not and the most popular navigator (Nice to see the internet is finally seeing the flaws in the "the best girl is the one with the bigger tits" logic, even though they were both the same in terms of bust size).

    3. She THREW, lemme say that again, T H R E W Blizzard Wolfgang into the ocean. Pea-shooter buster? Eh. Glowing sword? A mere child's toy. Alia has DEM GUNS. OHKO. Absolutely canon and completely and uncharacteristically absurd.

    4. I don't know if Japan made up the missing percentages by much because if this was available to the entire world, I can see Korea having a huge role since A. they too love mobile games and B. they are probably butthurt about MMO's cancellation.

    5. The ZX Saber kicks ass though, specially with the boss chip. My main was Ultimate Armor X with ZX Saber and a riffle as the secondary weapon. It was like a goddamn tank.

    6. Alia > Axl anyday, he's just a wannabe...It's telling that for a current main character he is that far behind. Capcom should just scrap him altogether

    7. Who is Blizzard Wolfgang and why is it being thrown into oceans? I will say this though, Wolfgang Krauser threw Terry Bogard across an entire street with one arm, no lie. He threw him, straight-up across the street(SMH). How Terry managed to defeat that guy is beyond me.

    8. ```She THREW, lemme say that again, T H R E W Blizzard Wolfgang into the ocean. Absolutely canon and completely and uncharacteristically absurd.``` I was always under the impression/assumed that Blizzard Wolfang was unconscious at the time. Alia was just taking out the trash.

And yes, it was a joke. I get it.

    9. Granted, as silly as I was trying to be and would not be surprised that she's popular for being the typical "mobile game Anglo blonde female" pick (not to mention mixing things up as far as playables go), it doesn't make the scenario with Wolfgang any less true. The English X6 script doesn't say whether she pushed him or if he was debilitated or what, she just confesses to doing it. Enticing, then, to play as a character that canonically OHKO's a boss (even if you'll never do so playing as said character).

    10. Who is Wolfgang? No one wants to help me out? Is he related to Wolfang?...... Are we actually talking about Wolfgang Krauser now? Cause I'd be all in on that discussion.

Wow. A hot blondie girl that been a series staple for years is more popular than the male character that was introduced when the series ended.
      What a surprise.

  5. I'm not surprised that there are more male players than female, but i did'nt thought there was that much of a difference.
I mean, all thoses yaoi fan-arts of X and Zero have to come from somewhere!
Maybe they just weren't interested in the beta.

    1. It's just like with Darkstalkers. The amount of fan-art of Felicia and Morrigan doesn't equal to amount of fans the games.

    2. I was thinking the exact same thing as you Anon.

I'm a Mega Man X fangirl in the fandom from 2003-2010, and it seemed like women outnumbered or were equal to men here and in Japan. Well, that is from what I could make out of fan websites and blogs I had known of here and in Japan. I eventually lost interest in the fandom since I didn't have interest in yaoi, which made up most of the fandom sites or accounts I was linked to. (Not because I see anything wrong with yaoi,) it just wasn't why I was interested in the series or characters. The sites that had mostly male fans I enjoyed had shut down, and the few left had drama or just communities that I wasn't compatible with. I left after that.

However, it dawned on me... I saw many fangirls love X and Zero for their own yaoi or hentai re-imaginations of them, which this game doesn't appeal to obviously. Perhaps some might not have interest in it for that reason. Also, I have been a witness to many moving on to other fandoms that suit their fantasies with more compatibility. Many I have seen leave sooner than many guys leave the fandom for other reasons. Maybe now, there isn't as many fangirls left. Outside of the internet, I have never met any other geek gals other than myself who has any interest in the series.

These are all my theories anyways.

  6. Yo, I'm gonna be angry if these stats get Palette bumped from the roster.
… though, if she became a skin for Axl, I think I'd be alright with that. Same with making Alia a skin for X. X + Alia would make 19% of the stats while Axl + Palette would make 6%.

But, seriously…? Ultimate Armor X is #1 by that much? Gosh, people are lame.

    2. I mean Ultimate Armor X looks the coolest and is the most powerful...nothing lame there. And that animation when you select him? So good.

    3. He was the best character from what i have seen. and in a lore point of view, it's X on top of his game, so it's not surprisind people would love him. Now that was only a day long beta, once the full game is released and player get a bit more to play around and more characters are included, the ratio might shift a little.
I don't think they'll kick Palette out, from what we know the plan seems more to add characters than anything.

    4. No one's gonna get bumped... Games like this make bank by flooding the roster.

    5. Keep in mind, I'm the same kind of person who would pick Top Spin over Metal Blade purely because its my favorite weapon.
That said, Ultimate Armor X wouldn't be my first choice.
(But, I'd be lying if I said I wouldn't at least try him out.)

  7. Only one thing to do capcom. Give Rico a male idol navi counterpart to bring in the fangirls!
Joke aside, i would'nt mind being able to use Signas as a mission control in this game if a possibility to chose your navigator is ever added.
