Closer Look at the Rockcan Soundtrack Collection

Over at Rockman Unity, Ucchy recently had some time to check out the prototype packaging for the upcoming 25th anniversary "Rockcan" soundtrack collection. It's pretty big:

Check out more images here.

Additionally, Ucchy confirmed the collection will contain three tracks from the Sega Saturn version of Rockman 8. He's referring to the alternate Tengu Man stage, Cut Man's theme and Wood Man's theme. It's unclear, however, if the rest of the Rockman 8 tracks will continue to use the PlayStation version as their source.

The Rockcan soundtrack collection includes 10 discs of remastered music from Rockman 1 through Rockman 10. It's going to run for 14,700 Yen (roughly $185) and set to release in Japan on September 19th. Still no word if this one will make the jump to our side of the pond -- keep those fingers crossed!

  1. Aside from pimping merch, what does Ucchy even do at capcom?

  2. I will keep my fingers cross for a release stateside, that is, if it drops in price to about $59.99 or less. $185 is way too much. Unless there is something special about these soundtrack releases that we haven't heard about yet.

  4. @First Anon: Obviously he´s some high class "4ss-kisser" from capcom. That picture is the killer proof you need.

  5. @MegaMac: Stuff in general tends to usually be a lot more expensive in Japan, so I think that might be part of the reason this set is so costly.

  6. I'm not aware that the playstation and saturn versions of MM8 have any other different tracks aside from Tenguman and the Cutman/Woodman tracks. So I don't think it'd matter whether they used the playstation version for the other songs.

I also would support this release here in the US, but I'm not sure I'd get it for its current price either. I don't think most people would, to be honest, and Capcom probably knows that. I imagine they'll either not release it here at all, or release a more limited version of it that can have a price below $180.

  7. $185 is a little too steep for me, especially when it concerns music that I can just listen to on youtube. If this does cross over to the west, I hope the price drops to something more affordable for the average fan. :)

lol at the guy in the first picture! XD

  9. that's not very exciting, a generic tin can with some cds that will eventually have the e tank pattern printed on it. I could make something like that myself.

  10. Man, am I hoping. I really want this, even if it's a reprint of some old stuff. I'd rather not spend $60 on MM9/10 soundtracks alone - may as well go for it all.
