100,000 Strong Rocket Fundraiser Goal Reached

Thanks to the generous efforts of various community members, 100,000 Strong for Mega Man Legends 3 (aka Get Me Off the Moon) was able to fulfill their goal of $1000 to build a 3-foot-tall model rocket. Mind you, its eventual blast-off is entirely symbolic; a fun tribute to not only Legends 3, but the Mega Man franchise itself. We've got a 25th anniversary coming up, after all!

Now that the goal has been reached, 100K has a question for you: would you like to see a slightly taller rocket? The group is toying with the idea of building a 5-foot-model instead, which would require an additional $500.

Think it's worth the investment? Send your thoughts to 100K here.

  2. I think it's a cool idea to make it 5 instead of 3. And if they raised $1,000 really fast, they'll get those $500 in no time.

  3. Am I allowed to say "penis"?
Because, the phrase "penis waving" comes to mind.

  4. In before Professor Megaman's obligatory troll comment.

It's a cute little tribute. Can't wait to see it on youtube no doubt.

  5. Protodude's Megaman Legends 3 Corner.

Haha, just kidding. I actually love that you're posting this stuff. It's how I keep up with it, and I don't want the attention to stop.

  6. What a pointless waste of money, that does nothing to either help the MML3 cause or in any way to help the less fortunate.

Sorry I'm so cynical, but...geez, this is just insane.

  7. @Mike:

Calm down. It's just for FUN. It's a community coming together to celebrate.

  8. I support this. Do they have a diagram of what the model would look like at either 3/5 feet? If not, they should make one, and Protodude should can paste it here.

This rocket idea is so simple. It's like a picnic or something - all about community and simple fun. It makes me smile : )

  9. This sounds like a fun idea! I hope to see pictures of what the model will look like. :D A 5 foot rocket would be cooler.

  10. You know, they could probably ask for another thousand bucks and they'd get it. Mega Man Legends fans are pretty darn enthusiastic.

  11. Like on one of the Roll's Wrap-ups on the facebook page, I said that even though it's a cool project and an ambitious statement, the money could very well be going towards something that will last and assist the cause in a more direct manner. I'd like to know how high and how long this rocket will go before it just falls back down? While it will be symbolic in a good way, because of that inevitability, it'll be in a bad one as well. =/

What with all the certified needs and approval from the FAA, I think it's too much of a hassle for such a modest, humble project. I'm not so sure of the impact it'll have with Capcom either, but hopefully it sways some hearts. Even so, it's a very cool project and I hope it goes well!

  12. Seeing that pic makes me remember the sad fate of MML3. Oh well, here's to 100K's success! And I like the idea of a 5 foot model. XD

Here's an idea, send me $50,000 and I'll buy a Porsche, but while I'm driving it, I'll be thinking about Mega Man Legends 3.

  15. I'm just waiting for the rocket lauch to be cancelled, so it can properly parallel L3 Prototype's launch cancellation.

(I kid, I kid. I hope this symbolic fundraiser/event goes well.)
