Angepitoyeir Joins Rockman X DiVE

Original Rockman X DiVE character Angepitoyeir stepped out of the shadows during the "Host of Annihilation Droitclair" event back in January, and now he'll be playable starting this week. I don't believe his design will leave anyone indifferent.

Find all the details after the break.

Angie's first active skill is Rift Flash. It crashes forward, dealing damage to all enemies along its path. Hitting a target triggers a Space Rift to appear that continuously deals damage.

His second active skills is Annihilation Ray Cannon. It fires 1 massive ray cannon and 3 tracing ray cannons that ignore terrain.

One of the passive skills will lock the target in place, with the chance to add more damage when the target is hit by the Ray Cannon again. Another of passive skills will grant a shield.

Angepitoyeir is the latest DiVE Festival character, and his capsule goes live this Wednesday through March 2nd.

If Droitclair's design was a departure from what we've come to expect from the series, I think it's safe to say Angie is even farther. Let us know what you think in the comments!

  1. I wonder who are they aiming to with these designs. Clearly people outside of the pre-established Mega Man fanbase.
But are Vocaloid fans really going to jump into X DiVE with these characters???

    1. Absolutely not. I love vocaloid and downloaded a few games specifically for Miku/vocaloids themselves. And even then, I've uninstaled if I didn't get the crossover units I came for.

    2. It's actually a secret government partnership to place all individuals who are looking forward to Angepitoyeir under a pedophile watch-list.

  2. you know, i get that rockman needs new blood to maintain relevance in a modern era. it needs fresh takes and ideas. it's what happened before with games like battle network in the 2000s.

but sexualized child type characters like this? that's taking a bat to the kneecap for widestream global appeal. and a way to potentially get the game banned in a few countries, including australia which they'd been offering service in from the start. this is also following a prior incident where they had to change the design of roll to meet app store guidelines, and this is even worse than that...

even if they censor this, it's the kind of thing that permanently damages a game's reputation.

  3. I actually like how the head wings look like Model W. He also makes me want Kid Icarus Uprising to get ported to the Switch as a dual-analog shooter.

He looks better in action than in stills, but I'm still not a fan of flesh tones being used for anything other than a face.

And I still haven't seen anything that compels me to play this game. It's been neat to watch from the sidelines, but the Wii already taught me how this story ends.

  4. oh boy another OC we can't ignore due to their overloaded kit!

  5. I await the day this game officially dies and stops catering to the incel weeb demographic who play Vocaloid and Genshin Impact. Talk about alienating their existing fanbase with this trite.

    1. If anything, this character is a boy, so it caters to the Shotacon female fanbase.

    2. They're just catering to all kinds of pedos at this point. 🤮

    3. I mean, didn't someone ask for a sexualized male character in here?

      Delete
    4. "Male". Reminds me of when loli lovers use lore to argue how you are "ignorant". Something like...

Loli lover: Wow this design is so good, great job, my favorite character, can't wait for such and such.

Regular dude: Looks like an over sexualized 12 year old.

Loli lover: Shows how much you know, she's actually a 300 year old monk who got her body from the celestials.

Point is he is "male", but the male part is clearly not the sale (well you get my point let us not deep dive).

    5. Apprently you don't know what Shotacon is...
Let me explain, did you know that theres quite a lot of women in their 30's in different fandoms that fantasize about fucking small boys?
Well, this is their fantasy. Pedos can be male and female.

      Delete
    6. Shotacon can have boyish characteristics and such. Basically it just means little boy-like, Mega Man himself can be considered a shotacon. Angepito... whatever the heck, is I think clearly leaning toward girl-like.

Within shota there is a subset that is "boy" in the most loose way possible, accentuating femininity and I guarantee you that the fetish is aimed predominantly at men. This is the entire concept of what I was describing in my previous post, that is why I said for us not to deep dive, it's super creeper territory.

    7. But still you fail to understand that actual NSFW content containing BOYS in oversexualized ways that mainly cater to WOMEN, have the same exact style that this current character has.
Hell, I would like to elaborate showing examples and all but first, that would literally mean I'm sharing NSFW of extremely dubious material and second I care about my search history, but rest assured that this was definetily made to appeal to the FUJOSHI part of the fandom who actively want to rape small boys.

  7. Back in the day droit disappointed me , but now i just can't stop laughing , it's like ticom is challenging fans to keep making worst OCs , " you guys thought droit was bad, you haven't seen anything yet " lol

  8. This poor character has such a creepy and awful design...

  9. … this character is someone's "fixation", to be sure.

    What the hell.

  12. Dude. If you are going to give me fanservice at least give me Nana and Berkana. I don't need a little kid in undies.

  13. I'm looking at that and thinking wtf is this. Wow, dive just gets weirder and weirder, as if the content drought for real MM games the past few years wasn't bad enough.

    3. Yeah, they need to knock this off and get back to the canon main time line series and game play to match, and story to match. Tired of this year after year. I feel like saying 'no one cars about this'. This is not a revival.

  14. naur but it's actually hilarious how everyone's finally in a tissy about this character's shotacon design when the fanservice of underage girls was actively defended to the point that everyone shit their britches when Roll's school swimsuit (which is straight-up a kink among weird pedos) had to be changed.

(I'm not defending this design, I just wish people were consistent with what jailbait they're against.)

    1. they took advantage of most people not knowing that original swimsuit design came from hideki ishikawa who draws actual public porn of her quite a lot

"oh, YOU'RE the perverted one for even thinking it's sexual!" disregarding cultural context and artist history lol

  15. People are obviously forgetting the honest, serious fact that AstroBoy, the one that inspired Megaman, existed long ago, is also a robotic boy that wore nothing but his underwear & boots. Even Pit from KIU also got shorts, is an angel and also wears a tunic.

Still far better then that edgy goth girl with the clown face

    1. Another thing, how come NOBODY brought up the Navigators from one of the X-Challenge images from the MMXLC collections once yet?
They got swimsuits, yeah sure, fanservice stuff yes, but they also got exposed skin. Even Palette, the youngest one of the group, also got it and part of the same exact image as Alia & Layer.

Roll also has it in some of her Powered Up costumes, MM11 artwork and even her SS design in DiVE before & after the whole redesign thing happen due to the law in Japan.

Even Cinnamon, also a young Reploid like Palette, has a Hyper form that is a maid outfit and even in DiVE as a costume. Nobody really complained about that, did they?

I mean, I thought it was stupid to look at when I played it back then, and I still feel that way today. I argue that back in the older games, the fan service still felt more subtle compared to today. Heck, the most
fan service I can recall from back then was Splash Woman posing on the beach from MM9, or the off screen moment of Tron having her clothes burned off after defeating her in MML2 (plus the Cinnamon outfit you reminded me of from CM).

In the end, it never felt as nearly in your face as the stuff we get from X Dive today. I'd also argue that it's getting even more creepy, because the characters just seem to look younger and younger in appearance. But hey, it's not just this franchise, that's just anime and Japanese gaming is going more often lately. I dunno'...if I had it my way there'd be no fan service in Megaman to begin with, because I feel it's just not necessary for this franchise at all!

  16. Funny story, I showed my wife this image and a few other XDive "waifus" and asked her what she thought it was from. Naturally she couldn't tell, so when I told her these new designs were from Megaman, the expression she gave me looked like she a tad revolted. She doesn't know much at all about the franchise except through me, but she pretty much felt just as sad about the approach Megaman appears to be going in as much as I and other fans on this site feel as well.

Her initial thoughts were the excact same that others have given on this site, how the characters feel very much like they appeal to a somewhat "creepy weebish incel" mindset, how it just doesn't feel "Megaman" anymore. It really does beg the question, who this is really for at this point? "New Megaman fans?"

It never makes any sense to me when a company thinks they need to redesign everything to "appeal" to a new generation. My youngest brother loves classic Megaman, so much that he even bought the art books so he could admire and draw the robot masters. Sure, some things always do need a fresh coat of paint and reinvent themselves to stay relevant, but I'd argue some things were just fine as they were and didn't need such drastic changes. If anything, you end up digging an even bigger hole if you distance yourself too far or alienate your original fanbase. Oh well, I guess we'll just wait and see with games like Taisen, and the hopeful new entry of an X title.

    1. I'm tired of appealing to new audiences. If they dont like Rockman as it was, then they have no place in this fandom. I'd rather see the franchise languish as is than be shat upon over and over again. Seriosuly not interested in their "takes", "updates", "modernization" or whatever spin they wanna give it. Show them the door.

    2. Yep, time to get back to actual Megaman main time line games the the matching gameplay, story, and actual sequels, and enough of this nonsense. Year after year now of this is getting old.

    3. @ Shrap

The funny thing is, these new audiences they are trying to cater too seem to look old school Megaman as much as we did, like how I mentioned my little brother enjoying the crap out of MM11 and the older games...so what's the point? lol

I mean, I do enjoy innovation and new ideas, it's why we got things like Legends. I just feel there are some things that are just too out there for the sake of being "new" that it literally feels like it barely has anything to do with the initial franchise to begin with.

A great example of this was that Thundercats reboot - "Thundercats Roar", it appealed to no one, yet their entire push was to cater to a new demographic, while completely forgetting what made it special in the first place. It's sad because, for all this time they spend on trying to think about how to make Megaman "new" - they could've made more money by now from just pushing out X9 or some other mainstream title by now. MM11 was proof of that! Yeesh...

    4. I like new stuff too, else we wouldn't have even gotten a slide or charged shot move for Megaman even in the classic series, and Legends is great, as is X and Zero, I even like ZX, but we need to hopefully keep it in the main timeline with true sequels, maintaining the story, platformer action style (release those, not more dive), and if a series starts in 3D, keep it 3D, but if the series starts 2D, keep it 2D. Legends is great in 3D but los silly in 2D. Likewise for 2D MM game series. Not do more things like Dive, Megaman soccer, Megaman racing, and I don't even care about battle network, or turn based ones like CM (I took CM back after I got tired of the chance based non-action gameplay). Just like I recall way back in the early 90s, I rented a game called 'Mario is Missing', and it sucked and was nothing like Mario.

    5. Exactly.

Like exe. It has absolutely nothing to do with rockman outside if names. It created an unnecessary wedge to the fandom, with two sets of people with two different ideas of what it is. It gets worse with every new project after that. Star force. Fully charged. This god awful movie. I'll throw the manga in there just to be consistent.

We should have gate kept this thing decades ago. The damage is done, lets keep it from getting worse. Especially nowadays.

If you come here and say "I luv Mega Man but it really needs to be like the Last of Us" or something rediculius my reponse is get out. Your not a fan if you have to change it. You never were. Get out, you parasite.

      Delete
    6. Yeah, Star Force was already pushing it; a lot of it looks more like Yu-Gi-Oh than anything else. Anyways, did @Gearz show his wife the characters from XOver?

    7. @ Austin Reed

Nah, we met each other back in 2014. I think XOver was pretty much dead by that point? Either way I had completely forgotten about it by then - lol

    8. @Shrap: You keep saying that but if Capcom called Mega Man, Bass and Roll EXE, Hyper Bomb Guy, Pharaoh Bat and Pink Arrow, I'd still obviously be like that's just clearly Mega Man, Bass and Roll why didn't Capcom just call them that, but that's just me.

      Agree to disagree.

    9. The rockman link was forced. I don't assume colors/powers would have been the same. It could have been more unique, of course. Hypothetically speaking
