Capcom "Retro Station" Officially Revealed + Global Release Confirmed

Following a leaked retail listing in late November, Capcom have officially taken the wraps off of their arcade-style mini console, the Retro Station. An official website for the Retro Station recently went live and it includes a bevvy of new images, screenshots and details. See those here.

The most notable new bits of info here are confirmation of an eventual ENGLISH release and the unveiling of a set of accessories: a fight stick to play two-player games on one Retro Station screen and USB PVP dongles for wireless connections between two individual Retro Station consoles.

Residents in Japan can pre-order the console now via the official Retro Station online store and, very soon, Amazon Japan. Sales in other regions are reportedly "coming soon!"

For the uninitiated, the Capcom Retro Station comes pre-installed with ten Mega Man and Street Fighter games. Mega Man-wise, the offerings include Mega Man: The Power Battle, Mega Man 2: The Power Fighters, Mega Man X, Mega Man Soccer and Rockman & Forte. With the exception of Rockman & Forte, every Mega Man game listed here is playable in English. Rockman & Forte will be the original, untranslated Super Famicom version

The Retro Station is due in Japan in March, 2021 for 21,780 Yen. That's roughly $210 US. Ouch! Is the price for admission worth it for a few Mega Man games that were missing from the Legacy Collections? Your call!

  1. I have to wonder if after some time they'll release the "Capcom Retro Station Super Turbo Edition" on Steam and current gen consoles. Would definitely enjoy being able to Steam Remote Play Power Battle and Fighters, as I would have to assume they wouldn't add any online play themselves.

  2. For $210? Yeah, no thanks. I've buy a collection in a heartbeat, but I'd sooner stick with ROMs and a raspberry pie.

  3. I would buy it if Rockman & Forte is finally in legally translated but it is untranslated come with those English version already ? Nonsense. I am not buying it at all. No thanks.

    1. Well they did translate it for the Gameboy Advance, but if even if that were the edition included in this, no way I'd spend that much on it. That style of controller would make Mega Man & Bass and Mega Man X nearly unplayable.

  4. And for $210 ? Very silly and there are ROMS for it as well. SKIP!

  5. Yeah that's about $190 too expensive for those titles.

  6. Hint for Capcom on how to make a lot of money: Take these games (minus Mega Man X), maybe add a few more spin-offs (like Battle & Chase, Rockboard, Mega Man Game Boy, Rockman & Forte Wonderswan, etc.), and release on PC and consoles. Easy profit.

    1. I don't why but some people don't seems to understand that Rockman & Forte WS is not a Capcom game.

    2. Depends on how you look at it. The game was developed by Bandai but published and licensed by Capcom. It was recognized in MM25 which, IIRC, is one of the few publications to do so. So it's "official" but its canonicity is up for debate.

    3. It was recognized in a very small way in an obscure section. It was not covered like they other games. And I mean, it seems really hard for Capcom to translate a game (on super famicom) that is already translated (on GBA), and to put it on a 4 game collection. I'm pretty sure Capcom will not put any zennys on WS.

  7. Why can't we just have a Mega Man Miscellaneous Collection? Have all these lesser-known spin offs and maybe Battle and Chase in a collection that I can play on my preferred console with my preferred controller.

  8. I wish Capcom would strike a deal with Sega's M2 so then we get either proper ports or emulation. M2 actually goes all the way and emulates almost every single version they can of the game series they work on. Plus they include almost every extra as well like artwork, complete ost, some arranged tracks, enhanced versions of some games, some cheats and in the case of arcade games they include a perfect run of them for practice.
A collection with all the spin-offs including the japanese language only ones as well would be awesome. Just put a disclaimer that the game never released in other territories like Sega did with their Sonic collections. Problem solved, well almost.
They could get the developers of the ps2 X collection back that almost went the full way if it wasn't for Inafune trying to promote the X PSP remake.
A list of all the spin-offs that I remember:
Rockboard, Rockman & Forte both sfc gba, Rockman & Forte wonderswan, Battle & Chase, Super Adventure Rockman, Power Battle and Fighters, Rockman World 1-5, Network Transmission, Rockman Exe wonderswan color and Command Mission. Maybe they could include the cellphone games like the port of 1 with playable Roll, Rockman Exe Phantom of Network & Legend of Network and Rockman Dash Great Adventure on 5 islands.
But I know it will never happen.

  9. 210 bucks for that? LOL!!! PC + EMU's = epic combo

  10. For that price, they could offer more titles. As it stands, it's honestly one of those novelties only for true collectors of all things Mega Man. Truthfully, I kind of want a mini arcade item like this, but...

  11. I can understand that its definitely not worth the asking price for whats included. That being said, from a pure Mega Man collecting stand point I want it. lol Ordered it and the fightstick already.
