The Lost Lore of Mega Man X's Armors

The Mega Man X series is packed with fun, interesting details that are easy to miss the first time around. Some are hidden in character relationships, like Boomer Kuwanger and Gravity Beetle being siblings. Others come from minor characters who appear briefly but become fan favorites, like Green Biker Dude. And then there are the lingering mysteries, including one big question: what happens to X’s Armors after each game?

Today, I’m excited to share what might be my favorite piece of hidden lore in the series: the Armors from the first four X games may have actually been the same Armor all along. It sounds wild, but according to some old sources, that appears to be the case.

I put together a video covering this odd little piece of X series history, so check it out for the full breakdown. And a big thank you to Protodude for giving me the chance to share this one on Rockman Corner.

  1. It was really fsacinating. If the theory applies to beyond X3, it's explain the X6 Saber-focused armors.

  2. The firsts four armors were never called "amors" they were called "Power Up Parts" and the first one was not the Fourth Armor, the first called as armor was the Ultimate Armor.

  3. I think X absorbs the abilities of the armors into his normal body over time too... In X1 he can't do much besides run, jump and shoot with a level 3 charge. By X8, he can dash on ground and on air, charge up to a level 4 charge and use his normal buster/charge while equipped with a boss weapon without needing an armor at all... Not to mention the double attack where he shoots that bigger version of the Icarus armor beam without needing an armor either.

  4. It's some interesting theory there. Second Armor, most of all, definitely looks like upgraded First Armor.

  5. I do appreciate this being made so that more people could learn this tidbit, but I wouldn't really say it's lost lore, it's just lore people haven't paid attention too, so maybe instead of Lost Lore it'd be more like... Overlooked Lore~? I left a comment on your video that covers some things about it that I feel you might have gotten wrong or didn't consider at the time.

Anyways a really nice video Colman~. Maybe you could do a Part 2 about in the future, either on these armors, the next sets of armors, Zero's armor/s, or otherwise!
