Street Fighter X Tekken on Xbox 360 Will Never Get Mega Man

Earlier this year, Xbox 360 owners were positively jubilant when data for Mega Man and Pac-Man were spotted inside the Xbox 360 version of Street Fighter X Tekken. The discovery suggested both characters were timed exclusives, poised to make the jump to Xbox 360 at a later date.

Recently, however, Street Fighter X Tekken producer Tomoyaki Ayano effectively dashed those hopes. In an interview with Siliconera, Ayano confirmed Mega Man and Pac-Man will forever remain exclusive to the PlayStation 3:

"Ayano: Unfortunately for Xbox 360 users, Mega Man and Pac-Man are exclusive to the PS3 version of the game.

Every game has data on it that is unused. In this case, Street Fighter X Tekken for the Xbox 360 did have the Mega Man and Pac-Man data on it. But, we never intended to release these characters on the 360. They are PS3 exclusives and that was our intention from the very beginning. They are not going to be timed exclusives either, they’re PS3 exclusives."

In other words, 'ol Mega Man and Pac-Man aren't coming to the 360 for no real reason at all.

Color me confused.

  1. What's the confusion?

They're PS3 exclusives. The data may be on the 360 copy but that's it. I'm not surprised they're left over since this is a multiplatform game.

  2. It's confusing because there's no reason. They're on the disc. Why NOT release them?

    Oh, right. Money.

  3. this is so stupid.

    They're ON THE DISC.

    Just release them!

  4. Contract with Sony?

  5. Another classic case of Capcom sucking Sony's cock.

    They'll never learn.

  6. Apparently Sony must've paid them an incredibly large amount that it makes it worth not releasing. And we wonder why Sony is having money problems >_>

At the same time, you wonder why the sales of SFxT didn't meet your expectations. I know several Xbox owners, including myself, who didn't pick it up because you gave Sony 5 exclusives and them none. Making Megaman and Pacman 2 of them only cemented that choice for them. Foolish Capcom. Foolish. Never make your company mascots exclusives in multiplatform games like this. It doesn't look good and it ends up badly.

  8. I didn't follow this much but ARE they on the 360 version? Keep in mind the lesser capacity VS Blu ray in which to store them.

Anywho, if anyone wants my take on it, they aren't missing much. In fact, the lesser consoles that shameful display of a Mega Man is on, the better.

Capcom needs to get serious with Mega Man. Seriously. As for Pac-Man fans? It's not exactly Pac-Man entirely anyway. He's in a Mokujin mech. =/

  9. @July 14, 2012 4:32 PM: You're making it seem like Bad Boxart Megaman is the only exclusive. Pac-Man is also an exclusive, and I suppose one could say that Namco are also at fault, not just one company.

    Just saying.

  10. I feel sorry for those who wanted to play as Pacman

  11. @MegaMac:

Yes. Both Pac Man and Mega Man are on the disc.

  12. @Dr. Jerk: It's Capcom's game, therefore Megaman will be the prominent example I will use. I won't use Pacman because Namco wasn't responsible for this game and the exclusive retardation. I truly hope Namco doesn't do the same.

@Megamac: The hackers went in, found the data, and can actually play as them. It may be missing some pieces/balancing, but they can still be played with never the less. It's the same deal with all the other DLC stuff.

  14. Once again, Capcom sucks for what they do to their fans of Mega Man. They just don't give a ****, and screw our lives over. Instant fail Capcom. Instant fail!

Amen to that! Screw Crapcom! That fricking company needs to get its act together or there will be war... War... Yes, I'm somewhat evil. >:3

  16. I find it hilarious that at first people were whining that Bad Boxart Mega Man was Capcom disrespecting the franchise and wanted nothing to do with him, and now they're whining that they won't be able to download him for a game they probably don't have on the console they own.

  17. They SAY it is a PS3 exclusive, and yet they have the information for the two of those fighters on the disc already. And, this is the same game, for the 360, where hackers cracked the game to acquire "DLC" characters that were, again, already on the disc.

Is Capcom REALLY that naive? They've already been showed up by the hackers once, and unless the data for the two of those fighters is in such terrible condition that they CAN'T be used, those same hackers that unlocked those characters that Capcom was trying to nickel and dime out of them are going to unlock them.

If they REALLY wanted to make those two exclusive to the PS3, they'd have removed the data for them both from the 360 version, instead of just tucking it away and hoping nobody would find it. Otherwise, you have a situation like with Rockstar and Hot Coffee, and we all know how THAT ended.

  18. I feel better this megaman's not in the 360 which i own. Thats an eyesore and it vexes me.

  19. @July 14, 2012 9:57 PM Anon: Look at it this way--Not only did we get a base-breakingly offensive version of Megaman, but those of us who like him will have to resort to hacking if they only have a 360.

The lack of exclusives (and apparently local 4-player?) really makes one wonder what point there is to buying the 360 version.

  20. It's about time PS3 has it's own awesome exclusives, even if it's something like just a couple cool characters. This is great news for me.

  22. I keep trying to rationalize this decision, but I keep coming back to the fact that Cole MacGrath and Toko/Kuro apparently aren't even in the data for the 360 version.

You might wonder what the connection is there, given that both Cole and the cats are Sony properties, and so logically, wouldn't be in the data for any non-Sony version of the game. That in itself is kind of my point. MEGAMAN and Pac-Man/Mecha-Mokujin were clearly never supposed to be system-exclusives. It doesn't even make sense that they would be, given one is a Capcom mish-mash parody and the others are Namco properties.

As much as I want to try and defend this decision... there really is no logical reason for it to have happened. All I can think of is that after the hackers found them, the project manager decided "Whoops, you ruined it for everyone else. Good job, guys."

  23. Oh boy, the MegaMan fanbase is acting like savages as usual... >_>

At least Protodude is nothing like you out of control MegaMan fans.

Sometimes, I'm ashamed to call myself a MegaMan fan due to the fanbase being like this...

  24. Whelp, data is on the disc guys. If you want it that badly... then it's time to void some warranties. Get cracking. XP

  25. ps3 exclusive means a contract with sony and that means, "hey we dont care about the players, we only want money"

so... if you want these characters on your xbox 360 you may be able to get them with cheats

  26. why are people even mad about not being able to play as some fat old man in a spandex suit that's not even the real megaman?
