Mega Man: Fully Charged Episode 1 Preview

The official Mega Man: Fully Charged YouTube channel is live and with it comes a preview for the show's first episode. The clip above features Mega Man (aka Aki Light) facing off against Fire Man. Dr. Light, Suna Light (Aki's sister), Sgt. Night, and the wise-crackin' Mega Mini make an appearance as well. The clip is blocked in countries outside the US, but I've uploaded an alternate here: https://youtu.be/ncrgolI7ek4

Mega Man: Fully Charged premieres on the official Cartoon Network app and various on-demand streaming platforms on Friday, August 3rd. Episodes will air on Cartoon Network weekly every Sunday beginning at 6:30 a.m. ET/PT starting August 5th.

  1. I really want to like this, as the animation and art style has grown on me, but it seems really low energy.

I also suspect Mega Mini is going to get old, quick.

We'll see, I'll be giving it a chance if I'm able to watch it.

  2. lol, I like this actually. Mega Mini is probably gonna be my favorite part. It's like Rocket from Guardians of the Galaxy.

  3. "Chill dude" "Cranky old dude" "even if said dude..."

    That's certainly some dialogue.

  4. looks fun as a cartoon but I loathe the way it appropriates the 8 bit pixel art/chiptune music in a hip trendy way while being about as faithful to the series as Captain N was. Heck even Ruby Spears was more faithful.

Already in CN's death slot. RIP.

  6. It seems OK. A bit generic and barely resembles Mega Man in terms of story and settings ... and features but still seems ok...

Seriously though, you take the crystal from the helmet away change the main color and names and it could be a different series entirely and no one would be the wiser.

  7. The pixel art/animation looks okay, but doesn't really match the cg animation. I know pixel art takes work and i have no clue about the cost, but it looks pretty cheap when used this way.

    1. It's kinda growing on me actually, I'm just blown away by how even when the spritework plays out almost like an animatic, Fire Man's flames still move all fluidly and everything.

  8. It isn't blocked outside of North America, it's blocked outside of the US specifically. Unless Canada is no longer part of North America and I missed it. =/

  9. Canada is apparently not getting to see anything on the channel. Bah.

  10. "Suna Light (Aki's sister)"
Wasn't she supposed to be a new character? If she is just another Roll, then she isn't a new character.

    1. She's a new Roll in the same way that Sonia and Mayl are "Roll" archetypes, I guess.

      Delete
    2. Well, Suna Light is Megaman's sister but she isn't a robot like him so maybe that is why Suna doesn't count as a Roll equivalent.

    3. Mayl? Hey you do know there is a characters named Roll.EXE in the EXE series don't you?

  11. This just......hurt.....
I guess 5 year olds might enjoy it, but I don't see any long time fans getting anything out of it. Hearing the theme song play felt wrong.
In general it looks a bit too slow and boring for any adult to enjoy. It's dissapointing, but oh well.
I mean I'm not gonna bash or hate on it too hard. It is what it is and you can enjoy it if you want. I personally prefer the campy 90's cartoon though ;)
At least MegaMan 11 is on its way! And potential MegaMan X too maybe so yay!!!
I'm guessing this will fizzle out after a bit and no one will remember it, or who know it may turn into something. Oh well...

  12. I actually like the pixel art; I think it's a neat touch and I'd love to see some sprite sheets recreated from the show. It's just weird that they're paying so much homage to the fact that Mega Man's a video game, while still changing almost everything about him. Either way, I hate it less than I did before, so I guess that's something. Just would've been better, IMO, if the kids these days could watch a show that's closer in line to the new game that's about to be on shelves.

  13. Nope... This show is bullshit and they won't win me over with cheap tricks like random pixel art and use of actual soundtrack hidden here and there. This is a huge PASS for me. Its existence doesn't affect me at all, I am not butt hurt about it, I don't care it's out there, I will just choose to ignore this.

  14. That was cringeworthy. I get that they are going after a younger demographic with this show but I see no reason why they couldn't have just stuck with you know, the original designs of the characters and the original setting. Sorry but I think the 1995 animated Megaman series blows this away. It wasn't perfect but it was much better than whatever this is.

  15. I have 99 problems with this cartoon, but I'll just ramble about the fact that they didn't seem to even get how thr "rock, paper scissors" thing goes with Megaman, Fight fire with fire? that would get MM killed, he is supossed to defeat the Robot Master with a subweapon that has advantage over him (Ice Man's), not the same one Fireman uses... Also, copying the weapon before even defeating the Robot master? for shame!

Everything else is just so damn cheezy, or not even resembling MM's lore, I won't even bother mentioning, may as well create a new robot cartoon instead of slaping familiar names over this

    1. To be fair, using Metal Man's weapon against Metal Man in MM2 complete wrecks him. They were probably using that for a reference lol.

      Delete
    2. Buuuuuut.... To be unfair, using both Bubble Man and Flash Man's own weapons against them completely heals them. "Fight fire with fire", huh? Lol, let's see you get through those battles with that line of thought, Aki.

The whole thing is butchered, sadly. The heart of the whole Mega Man concept was the Rock/Paper/Scissors style. You take that away, what do you have?

    3. I tried fighting fire with fire, once.

It went about as well as expected.

    4. i can get over the "getting a weapon before defeating the robot master" things, actually. in a Video Game, gameplay-wise, it is natural to get a boss bonus only after beating them, but i can accept that a cartoon would go in another direction. now, yes, it would have been nice to put the elemental weakness chain in the cartoon, would have brought much more interesting situations.

  16. Mega Man is annoying. Mega Mini is much more annoying. Fire Man was about the only good thing about this clip. This was delayed for a year and even the backgrounds look really really lazy. Not even blind hating here like some have said. I've actually watched both clips and tried to be fair. This looks really really really low budget too.

  17. I just realized the description on the video says "Mega Man also has to find a way to redeem his twin brother, Namagem and release him from the evil influence of Sgt.Night"

    >Namagem
...WHAT KIND OF NAME IS THAT?????? They just wrote "megaman" backwards!!

    4. they should have gone for nega man if they wanted a name that show he is Megaman nemesis. still not the best name ever, but less silly.

Well I hope that a dub won't take too much time, otherwise I won't have any way to watch it.

  21. Everything about this is so unlike MegaMan, also how would this fit in the timeline or multiverse? The backlash on this is gonna be non-stop till the show dies. 100%

    1. it does'nt. it's just a other product with it's own lore and not tied with the game continuity. Now the question is wether it will be a fine cartoon. it's not for me, and likely not for you either, now i'm waiting to see if kids will like it.

  22. I'm not a hater by any means, and I was annoyed by the people who were very negative about the show without having even seen any clips, but now that I have seen this preview I'm pretty firmly in the "who is this for" camp. I still think it'll be better than the 90's cartoon, but it's definitely nowhere near the quality of the Archie comic series. To keep this comment from being entirely negative, I am interested in seeing what new characters and designs they come up with, I like Fire Man's design, and the alternate color schemes used for Mega Man's special weapon modes are nice.

One more negative thing, though...are they seriously calling their Proto Man equivalent Namagem? Really?

    1. What? The 1995 Megaman animated series is leagues above this even though it wasn't the best cartoon, at least they for the most part stuck with the source material.

  23. Okay, after taking a look at the clip...I have to say, with the exception of the way Mega Man's armor looks, I actually like the character designs quite a bit. After seeing that promotional keychain, I was worried. But the writing...that's where my problems start. All I can say is I hope this is a clip taken from one of the weaker episodes, maybe one written while they were still finding their footing, but I'm not holding out hope. This looks like it's the sort of thing that could only appeal to little kids. But I get the feeling it's aimed at a more adolescent audience?

I give it two seasons, max.

  24. In truth, the animation isn't too bad, a bit sparse in some areas (mostly in terms of background), but the only thing that really gets me in the lack of impact when it comes to any of the buster shots or the like. Some fireballs are forgotten as soon as they leave the scene and some hit with enough force to leave a crater. It's a small gripe, but I feel it's worth mentioning. In terms of design, they still seem a bit...wonky, I suppose, not having a truly western or eastern "deformed" look, but in truth everything seems to flow in an acceptable manner that gives it life that that one screenshot of Aki never could satiate. It's not the straightforward adaptation that some people seem to want, but it never claimed to be either. I'm still willing to give it a chance.

    ReplyDelete
  25. I really hope Rock– oops, I mean "Aki," doesn't continue to be so preachy throughout the series' run. "Even if he is mean and ignorant." "Fighting bad-guys isn't a spectator's sport." I know you're trying to be a "super hero," but c'mon. You aren't trying out for the Super Friends, mate.

That aside, I'm quite alright, with this. I mean… Megaman jumps, shoots, and slides, so!

    ReplyDelete
  26. does'nt look bad. i'm not that much of a fan of 3d animation, but it look nice and i like the bright colors. now, it seem like they're really going for a children audience story-wise (though it might be too early to judge), but it's fine if they make it a good children cartoon.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Beat fire man with... fire? Uh did they even play the games? The whole concept of MM is rock paper scissors.

    ReplyDelete
  28. putting aside my love of the games serie for a moment to judge the cartoon on it's own.
Well, there's robots, there is fighting, and transformation stuffs... think this is the kind of things i would have watched as a child. now, namagem is'nt the best choice of name they could have make.
the animation is'nt so bad, there are quite a few things that could be improved, but overall it pass. the robot look much better animated than on the few pics with had seen of them before.
don't think I will watch it eagerly, but it's not like everything made in entertainement had to revolve around my tastes or wants. just hope for them that the show will find it's audience.

  29. Ok. I think there is a lot of negativity towards this show, and ill admit I felt the same way early on, but after watching this clip I think it will be a good show.

Consider this: When Megaman X or Megaman Legends or even Battle Network was released, Did people flip out and go "THATS NOT MEGAMAN EVERYTHING IS WRONG!" Or did they get pumped at the new universe? (I was too young to be online on fan communities, born 92) When I watch this I see a new incarnation that has its own thing going for it, and if you look at it that way, It's honestly pretty good.

Youll have to watch at least 3 episodes to give it fair judgement, as with any shows.

    1. why do we need another universe?
we have plenty. 7 game universes consisting of a minimum of 3 maybe 4 canons, multiple comics, etc. some of which are still unfinished.

they purposly targeted younger audiences. not to those of us who grew up on and with Mega Man.

so, no. i want no part of it. thanks anyway.

Now imagine how shocked newbies introduced by this "thing" will react to existing media.

    2. *7 series, not 7 universes.

not including whatever the shit that pachinko game is.
