CoroCoro Comic Teases New Mega Man Star Force One-Shot Manga

Good news for fans of Mega Man Star Force and manga author Ryo Takamisaki: a brand-new one-sho is set to debut March 19th on Weekly CoroCoro’s website according to a Star Force Legacy Collection preview in the latest issue of CoroCoro Comic.

While best known for his Battle Network manga, Takamisaki previously dipped into the Star Force series in 2008 with a short two-chapter adaptation of Mega Man Star Force 3. The scope of this new one-shot, as well as its story, has not yet been revealed. It's also unclear whether an official English translation will be released, something Capcom USA previously provided for Takamisaki’s Battle Network Legacy Collection reunion one-shot.

CoroCoro also notes that a new commemorative illustration by Masaya Itagaki will be posted to Weekly CoroCoro’s site on March 23rd. The small image next to the QR code in the article appears to be a teaser of that illustration.

Shooting Star Rockman Manga Getting Digital Reprint in Japan

Shooting Star Rockman has been seeing a teeny tiny resurgence lately, and that trend continues with Fukkan’s latest announcement. For the first time, all four volumes of Masaya Itagaki’s Shooting Star Rockman manga will be released as Kindle e-books, arriving on Amazon Japan on Friday, August 22nd.

The first three volumes loosely adapt the events of Shooting Star Rockman 1, while the fourth volume, Tribe Shooting Star Rockman Battle Side Story, includes some elements and characters from Shooting Star Rockman 2. Although the series never received an official English release, it was published in Indonesia and Thailand back in 2012.

Content-wise, these digital editions are expected to match the original print runs, but with refreshed logos and Fukkan branding. Pre-orders are currently live for those with access to Amazon Japan.

An FAQ on Mega Man Timelines, Mega Man Adventures, and More

To help clear up any confusion about the different Mega Man books releasing this year, Udon Entertainment has shared a wealth of new details that may answer some of your most frequently asked questions. From Mega Man Timelines to Mega Man Adventures and beyond, here’s a breakdown of what’s coming and what you can expect.

Mr. Mega Man and Little Mega Man Volume 2 Available to Pre-Order

With Mr. Mega Man and Little Mega Man set to make their English language debut later this month, Udon Entertainment are wasting no time preparing their second volumes. Mr. Mega Man Volume 2 and Little Mega Man Volume 2 are now available to pre-order from Amazon, due on June 9th and June 30th, respectively. The cover art isn't available yet, but it's expected to match the Japanese versions shown above.

Here are the official solicitations:

Mr. Mega Man Volume 2 - When Mega Man grows up, he must face his greatest challenge of all... life as an adult! The battles with Dr. Wily are in the past, and Mega Man has grown up in a peaceful world. Now spending his days as a dentist, Mega Man has begun to notice a rise in strange, robot-related incidents. As a result, he must once again use his great power to protect the world and uncover the mastermind behind this mystery…

Little Mega Man Volume 2 - The endless battle between Dr. Light and Mega Man continues! The Blue Bomber encounters more wacky new robots such as… Demon Man! Sushi Man! Plasma TV Man…? Plus, meet the very shiny European Mega Man! And is that… X and ZERO!? It’s all-out zany adventures in LITTLE MEGA MAN!

It's worth mentioning that until Udon makes an official announcement, the release dates listed may be placeholders and subject to change. However, a five-month gap between the first and second volumes seems reasonable. If that holds true, we can expect the third and final volumes around November-December.

Mr. Mega Man, Little Mega Man Volume 1 Delayed to January 2025

The latest English-translated Mega Man manga have been hit with a slight last-minute delay. Mr. Mega Man and Little Mega Man are now scheduled to ship on January 28, 2025. Originally, Mr. Mega Man Volume 1 was set to release today, but for better or worse, both books will now arrive on the same day.

Here’s a quick refresher on what these stories are about:

Mr. Mega Man: "When Mega Man grows up, he must face his greatest challenge of all... life as an adult! The days of battle against Dr. Wily are long since gone. The world no longer needs Mega Man, and a grown-up Rock now leads a peaceful life working as a dentist. The Robots Masters have new careers as well... Cut Man is a barber, Flame Man is a chef, and Top Man is an online influencer. Yet as these dreamlike days pass by, a shadow of turmoil lurks on the horizon..."

Little Mega Man: "The endless battle between Dr. Wily and Mega Man begins! In this wacky new take on the Blue Bomber’s early days, our hero encounters “classic” robots such as... Platform Man! Nostra-Man-damus! Comfy Chair Man! Wait... why is Rush a real dog!? And is that... “Bad Box Art” Mega Man!? It’s all-out zany adventures in LITTLE MEGA MAN!"

You can pre-order both volumes from the links above.

The first volume of Mr. Mega Man, spanning 194 pages, is now available to pre-order on Amazon for $13.99, with a release date of December 10th. We also have a first look at the cover art (via Previews World) and the following solicitation:

The days of battle against Dr. Wily are long since gone. The world no longer needs Mega Man, and a grown-up Rock now leads a peaceful life working as a dentist. Pre-orders for Little Mega Man haven’t surfaced yet, but I wouldn't be surprised if that's coming sooner than later.

Rockman-san Manga Comes to An End

Debuting in April 2021 to celebrate Mega Man's 33rd anniversary, "Rockman-san" launched alongside "Rockman-chan" in Young Ace UP magazine. The manga told the story of a world at peace, where a grown-up Rock, now a dentist, works alongside his assistant Roll at their dental clinic. After a successful three-year run, the manga concludes today with the final part of chapter 44.

The final volume collecting the last chapters of Rock's adventures as a dentist will be published in Japan this summer, bringing the series to a total of three volumes. Currently, the manga is only available in Japanese, with no official announcement for an English release. However, you can get a glimpse of this unique story through fan translations available on MangaDex.

There is no word if Rockman-chan will end next week when the next chapter will be published. We'll keep you posted!

Mega Man Gigamix Official Spanish and Catalan Edition Announced

Manga publisher and distributor Ooso Comics has announced that they've secured the license for Hitoshi Ariga's Mega Man Gigamix. The news surfaced at Comics Barcelona, where the publisher stated that, following the success of their Megamix releases, Gigamix was the natural next step. While all three volumes are slated for publication, a specific release window has yet to be disclosed.

TThe Ooso Comics edition will include cover art from the Japanese 2015 re-release, which itself featured minor adjustments to certain panels and artwork, courtesy of Ariga. Additionally, it included a handful of "bonus" content absent from previous prints. It remains uncertain whether the Spanish and Catalan editions will incorporate this content or simply utilize the cover design.

Rockman-san Chapters 13 to 19 English Translation Now Available

Since their debut more than a year and a half ago, Rockman-San and Rockman-Chan continue to be among the most read manga in Young Ace UP. And despite that, no publisher has expressed any interest in distributing the comics outside Japan. At least not yet.

But lucky us, our friend Midori has been working hard to translate another batch of chapters in English. This time it's chapter 13 to chapter 19. You can download them here. Chapters 1 to 12 can be found from that link as well if you need to play catch-up.
