Classic Mega Man and Roll Caskett Costumes Coming to Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition

Costumes based on classic Mega Man and Roll Caskett are heading to Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition on February 26th, Capcom announced. These are costumes for Ryu and Sakura, respectively. They'll set you back $3.99 a piece. Official descriptions below:

Mega Man for Ryu (Mega Man) – Mega Man needs no introduction, as the Blue Bomber and hero of 20XX is just as iconic as Ryu. In fact, if you look really closely, a charged Mega Buster shot almost resembles a Hadoken, making this costume a perfect fit for Ryu! This costume is available for purchase for MSRP $3.99.

Roll for Sakura (Mega Man) – Those familiar with the Mega Man series are probably familiar with Roll, Mega Man’s “little sister” and Dr. Light’s assistant. In the Mega Man Legends games, Roll Caskett is a different character entirely – a genius mechanic and best friend of Mega Man Volnutt who’s searching for a grand treasure. This costume is available for purchase for MSRP $3.99.

More details available via Capcom Unity!

"Dr. Light's Research Journal" Now Available in English!

Dropbox | Drive | Mediafire

My first Patreon-backed project has reached its conclusion! "Dr. Light's Research Journal" – a 52-page collection of notes from the good doctor taking place before, during and after the events of Mega Man 1 – has been translated into English. You can download the PDF from the links above!

These notes were originally included in the mini 2016-2017 planner that came with the out-of-print, e-Capcom exclusive Rockman Classics Collection Limited Edition Package (for Nintendo 3DS). The notes provide a bit of backstory on the birth of the six DLN Robot Masters, among other things. We learn about how Dr. Light was commissioned to design six robots by an "administration", the development of his patented "Ceratanium", and the eventual crisis that leads directly into the events of Mega Man 1.

The notes also provide us with some cute slice-of-life moments, too. For instance, did you know Cut Man shaved Dr. Light's beard in his sleep? Or how about the time Light invited Rock and Roll out to karaoke? Or that time Reggae spied on the Light family? And did you know about Dr. Light's penchant for fighting games? He wants to master the Shoryuken and Hadouken for real, you know.

This project couldn't have happened without my Patreon supporters. Thanks to you, we were able to obtain the physical journal, scan it, translate it, and clean it up. Translation credit goes to my old friend Midori Woodley. Typesetting and imaging honors go to the great Reploid_21XX! You guys rock.

More Patreon-backed projects surrounding the documentation and research of various pieces of rare and lost Mega Man history are coming down the pike. As always, your support is very much appreciated. It's a dollar to start; no paywalled content. Learn more here!

Celebrate Valentine's Day with New Wallpapers and Mega Man 11's OST on Steam

While the Rockman Unity App hasn't uploaded any new wallpaper's for this month, Capcom themselves managed to sneak a few out that you might like.

The three mobile wallpapers pictured above were designed by the Rockman 11's UI team (via Rockman Unity's Twitter account and blog. Thee Roll-themed wallpaper on the right was specially created to celebrate Valentine's Day. The bottom wallpaper is for your desktop. It's a hi-res version of the Mega Man 11 Original Soundtrack cover art. You can download all these wallpapers right here!

Speaking of which, the soundtrack is now available to be purchased Steam for  $12.99 or 10,79€. It's also available to listen to for free on Spotify, as we reported some days ago.

Rockman X3 "Max Armor" Kotobukiya Kit Now in Development

Vanilla X won't be the only Rockman X series model kit coming from Kotobukiya this year. During a special stage show at Wonder Fest, the company confirmed plans to release a follow-up model kit based on Rockman X3's "Max Armor" (aka "Third Armor"). The Max Armor kit will officially be revealed in May at the Shizuoka Hobby Show.

Believe it or not, this is the first model kit based on the Max Armor made in 23-years. Bandai released two variations of the armor back in 1996: The white "Max Armor" and the golden "Hyper Special".  Kotobkiya's rendition will naturally be far more articulated, detailed, and larger than Bandai's kit. It's definitely something to look out for.

Kotobukiya Rockman X Model Kit Revealed! (Update)

Kotobukiya is back with the first new Rockman model kit in several years: the Irregular Hunter himself, X!

Rockman X Falcon Armor "Riobot" Announced (Sentinel, Eiichi Shimizu)

A poster announcing a brand-new Rockman X "Falcon Armor" figure was spotted at Wonder Festival by Rockman Unity's Ucchy-san. The figure will be released under Sentinel's "Riobot" line, which means it will be a tad bigger, and more detailed than Sentinel's previous 4Inch-Nel Rockman figures.

The figure is being designed by Eiichi Shimizu, a Japanese illustrator perhaps best known for his work on Linebarrels of Iron, Ultraman, and Getter Robo Devolution.

No word yet on release date or price. More news on this front soon!

Mega Man Franchise Now at 34 Million Units Sold; Up 1 Million from Last Quarter

If you needed further evidence that the Mega Man franchise is not only in good health but steadily growing, this is it.

Thanks to the combined efforts of Mega Man 11 and additional Mega Man X Legacy Collection sales last quarter, the franchise just broke 34 million units. That's an additional million units in growth from Q2 2018, which was first reported back in November. In eight months time, the Mega Man franchise has gone from 32 million units (June 2018) to 34 million units (February 2019).

All in all, this is great news. It's heartening to see that, after so many years of dormancy, Mega Man is back and performing better than ever. It can only get better from here, folks.

Mega Man 11 Sold 870,000 Units; Mega Man X Legacy Collection at 920,000

Hot on the heels of yesterday's news that both Mega Man 11 and Mega Man X Legacy Collection 1+2 are performing well, Capcom just released some sales numbers.

In a Q&A session posted to their Investor Relations page, Capcom revealed that Mega Man 11 sold approximately 870,000 units since it launched on October 2nd, 2018. Meanwhile, Mega Man X Legacy Collection (they don't specify if it's Legacy Collection 1 or 1+2) sold a total of 920,000 units since it launched in July 2018. These are cumulative numbers across all platforms – PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC.

If Mega Man 11 and Mega Man X Legacy Collection continue to sell at a steady rate, both titles could very well achieve one million units each by the end of this quarter. If that happens, they will join the ranks of the few Mega Man titles to sell a million or more units in the franchise's 30-year history.

Make no mistake: Mega Man is back. Onto the next!
