Mega Man Confirmed for Universal Fighting System

The official Universal Fighting System Facebook page has confirmed Mega Man (and Darkstalkers) are headed to the popular trading card game. In fact, you can look forward to new Mega Man sets over the next three years!

"Mega Man is going to have at least 3 releases over the next 3 years as complete sets. We cannot disclose which characters will be in those sets yet, however ProtoMan and Mega Man are expected in the Summer Releases this year."

If that wasn't enough, the UFS Facebook page is giving you the opportunity to win an exclusive Mega Man play mat. Simply like their page and you're in! A winner will be drawn on July 4th.

Thanks for the tip, RockX!

D-Arts Character Survey Results are Here

Voting is done, the results are in. 17,603 entries were received, and now as promised Ucchy-san delivers us the results. The most desired characters to be turned the next D-Arts are:

  • Zero (Mega Man Zero): 4,985 votes
  • Mega Man Volnutt: 3,083 votes
  • Roll (Mega Man 8 version): 2,997 votes
  • Iris: 2,907 votes
  • Ciel: 2,659 votes

At the end of the day, Zero came out on top. If you're disappointed with the results, I'd like to remind you the top three characters of Bandai's first poll all went on to become figures: Zero (MMX), Full Armor X, and Vile. Who's to say it won't happen again? Just keep those fingers crossed and hope for the best.

For the statistics behind the remaining top 24 characters, swing on over to The Mega Man Network.

Feast Your Eyes on MM25 Preview Pages!

Over on Capcom Unity, Brelston has posted four images from MM25: Mega Man and Mega Man X Official Complete Works. These pages are just a small sampling of the book's newest material.

Toru Nakayama is responsible for my personal favorite of the lot (the colors!). Click here to check out the other pages!

Full MM25 Cover and Hardcover Details

By way of UDON Entertainment's own Matt Moylan, here's the full cover for MM25: Mega Man & Mega Man X Official Complete Works. Rest assured X fans; the Maverick Hunter has his own spotlight on the back of the book.

Matt also sends word that a hardcover edition is indeed in the works. The Diamond Comics listing, however, is incorrect; book stores will only be receiving the softcover edition. The hardcover edition is inteded to be exclusive to conventions and UDON's own online store. Price is still TBA.

Thanks for the heads up, Matt!

Runny Nose? Rush Has Your Back!

Here's another quirky product from Capcom Japan: a plush Rush tissue box! Just in time for those pre-autumn allergies, E-Capcom will be shipping this puppy out in September for 4800 Yen (roughly $47.40).

With that price you'd expect it to actually jet across the room to tend to every sneeze. Nope! Still kinda cute, though.

MM25's Printing Proof is a Monster

This towering pile of paper, my friends, is the printing proof version of MM25: Mega Man and Mega Man X Official Complete Works. Not to worry; the final book won't be this thick. This format helps UDON's editors check for errors.

"While the final book won’t measure the 3 or 4 inches tall that this print stack does, it does hopefully give you an idea of just how BIG a deal MM25 is going to be!" proclaims UDON chief Erik Ko. "Replacing our Mega Man Official Complete Works and Mega Man X Official Complete Works, this 430+ page MONSTER faithfully reproduces the recently released Japanese edition, R20+5!"

MM25 is due in August. If you're interested, preorders are live on Amazon.com, Amazon.ca, and on Barnes & Noble.com

Mega Man Joining the 'Universal Fighting System' Card Game?

Teased on the official UFS Facebook page, it would appear Mega Man -- and other Capcom characters -- are coming soon to the Universal Fighting System. The silhouettes of the super fighting robot himself and Darkstalkers' Hsien-Ko would seem to suggest a forthcoming Capcom themed deck.

Produced by Jasco Games, The UFS is a popular collectible card composed of cards from licensed franchises, mostly fighting games. It's appeal lies in the ability to create dream showdowns. Imagine pitting Mega Man against the likes of Soul Caliber, Street Fighter, and King of Fighters characters. Legendary battles, to say the least.

Hopefully we won't have to wait too long for an official confirmation.

Amazon Opens MM25 Preorders, Cover Revealed

Well here it is: the English edition of MM25: Mega Man & Mega Man X Official Complete Works. The cover isn't quite as flashy as its Japanese counterpart, but I rather like it (a Mega Man X sprite thrown in for good measure wouldn't hurt though).

Joining Barnes & Noble, preorders are now a-go on Amazon. Unsurprisingly, we have two conflicting release dates: September 10 (Amazon) and August 28 (B&N). I was previously informed B&N's is accurate. Plans may have changed, though. In any case we will be getting more details (and clarification) from UDON in the very near future.

Stay tuned!

Rockman Xover Crossovers with 'Seven Thousand Wars'

Typical of a great many social RPGs, Rockman Xover will enter a cross promotion with another franchise. The Mega Man Network reports character's from Namco Bandai's Seven Thousand Wars – Season 2 will appear in Xover as special Battle Memory cards in a lottery. Seven, meanwhile, will see the addition of Rockman themed equipment, as well as five SP cards featuring OVER-1's incarnations with medieval/fantasy weaponry. And lots of dirt.

The Seven Battle Memory cards will appear towards the end of June. Xover equipment is now available in Seven until the end of the month.

Iron Man is Mega Man. That is All.

This one-minute, 22-second video by CineFix retells the 2008 Iron Man movie in classic 8-bit Mega Man style. It's a terribly entertaining mishmash. Spoilers abound, of course (how have you not seen Iron Man?).

Anyone else agree this would make a great game? Get on it.

A pair of official Rockman coffee mugs are due to hit Japan this October. Manufactured by System Service, they measure 15cm in diameter shaped like Rockman's head. You've got your traditional head and a Rush Adapter variant. The set will retail for the equivalent of $23.60 US.

Previous System Service products showed up on Big Bad Toystore a couple days ago, so it's possible they will carry these as well. We'll keep an eye out.

World 7 Added to Rockman Xover (Update)

Rockman Xover received an update today, ushering in the all new World 7. This time around the bosses are from Mega Man X8. We have Optic Sunflower, Avalanche Yeti, Burn Rooster, and Bamboo Pandemonium. Take down those four and you'll face Sigma. Lumine's a no-show, unfortunately.

In related news, the armor you get from this update is a very green Over-8. It's a dual wood/wind type, strong against electric type bosses. You can see it along with more images after the break.

The Mega Man Worries of 1999

Here's a Letter to the Editor scan from a 1999 issue of PSM. I present this to you for two reasons: 1) the doubts we face today aren't particularly new and 2) things change. Also, I find Robert DeJesus' illustration charmingly amusing. It's just as relevant as ever.

Rockman Xover: Arcade Man Gameplay

Boss contest winner Arcade Man joins the Rockman Xover fray today. You can see the guy in action above. Unfortunately, his attacks are nowhere near as exciting as his original design proposal. What a sad, sad waste.

I don't know about you, but I think he'd make for a great traditional Robot Master. Wouldn't mind seeing him in a hypothetical Mega Man 11.

Thanks to JT for the tip!

Rockman iPhone 5 Case Heads to eCapcom

Capcom of Japan wants to megafy your iPhone 5 with this nifty Rockman themed case. It also just so happens to be a work of 3D sprite art. The product is exclusive to eCapcom for the time being, retailing for 2,480 Yen (roughly $25 US) and due to ship on July 3rd.

I, for one, am crossing fingers for Capcom Unity to get the jump on this.

Concept Art From Cancelled Mega Man FPS Released

By way of Adi Granov's official tumblr, here's a great piece of concept art from the cancelled Maverick Hunter project. Adi was responsible for redesigning Mega Man X for the ill-fated first person shooter. He also just so happens to be the same fellow who designed Iron Man's movieverse suit.

Adi writes, "It’s sad it didn’t make it as I was very happy with the design."
