Rockman X DiVE's Summer Carnival: The Calm Before The Storm

Today we are starting the third week of Rockman X DiVE's Summer Carnival. So far it's been a very "chill" event, almost invisible if you will. This week in particular is feeling really bare, as there are no new characters arriving in the game. Regardless, this week brings a weapon banner and some new content to keep players entertained. Let's check it after the break!

Boom Studios Mega Man Fully Charged Issue #3 Cover Art

As we await the launch of Boom Studios' brand-new Mega Man Fully Charged limited series in a couple weeks, issue #3's covert art has arrived to tide us over.

The character featured in the center is Namagem -- the twin "brother" of Mega Man/Aki Light. (his name is 'Mega Man' spelled backwards. Yeah.) Namagem is depicted standing amidst a pile of broken and tattered robotic bodies with, what appears to be, Skull Man looming in the background. Note that Skull Man did not appear in the Fully Charged animated series.

Pending this issue's solicitation, it remains to be seen if the cover represents an event taking place during the "Hard Wars" or after the events of the show's final episode "The Gauntlet Part II." One thing is certain, though: this series will be tonally darker than the animated series.

Udon Entertainment Are Working on a Few New Mega Man Books

Earlier this week, Udon's very own Matt Moylan took to the company's 20th anniversary Comic-Con stream to drop some "secret info" about books currently in-development. While there are numerous books coming from different video game and anime franchises, there's always one that appeals directly to us: Mega Man.

Here's what Matt had to say on that front: "We're working on a few books for Mega Man and I chose this Mega Man image on purpose, so think about that."

The image Matt is talking about is the above key art from Mega Man Legends 2. So yeah... think about that.

I'd like to add I'm privy to the development of one of these new books. It's something that I think a lot of people are really going to enjoy. Hopefully we'll have some news to share soon. Stay tuned!

Thanks for the tip, Paul!

Live Action Mega Man Movie Directors Say "Big News" is Coming Soon

It appears we're on the verge of some major news concerning Capcom and Chernin Entertainment's live action Mega Man movie. Directors Henry Joost and Rel Schulman sat down with IGN this afternoon to provide a brief update on the project, which has been in development since 2018.

"We're super excited about it," said Henry Joost. "I think we're going to have some big news about it soon. I can't say all that much about it right now but it's a project very near and dear to our hearts. We're psyched."

Rel Schulman adds, "[Mega Man] is an underdog hero and both of us are deeply fascinated with robotics and the future of automation, for better or worse. I think trying to combine that into one of our favorite historical video games is the ultimate challenge."

Tentativelly titled "Mega Man", the film will be directed by
Henry Joost and Rel Schulman, produced by Masi Oka and written by Mattson Tomlin, the co-writer of Matt Reeve's upcoming The Batman (2021). There are no details on story, cast or a release date at this time.

We'll keep you posted!

Rockman VR: Targeted Virtual World!! - First Teaser Trailer

Capcom Japan have released a near-minute long teaser trailer for Rockman VR: Targeted Virtual World!!, the upcoming virtual reality attraction at Plaza Capcom Store Ikebukuro. The attraction will be playable exclusively at Plaza Capcom - nowhere else - starting July 18th.

Rockman VR pits players in the role of Rockman as they take down a swarm of enemies, Block Man and eventually Dr. Wily himself! It's all done from a first-person perspective. Rockman 11's Double Gear System will play a key role, too.

The experience will run for 25 minutes. The length factors in both prep time and a how-to-play explanation from Plaza Capcom staff. So while it's not actuall  25-minutes worth of gameplay, participants can expect at least 15 minutes of VR goodness.

Ticket reservations are currently being accepted directly from Capcom. One tickets costs 1,500 yen. It's the most inexpensive of Capcom's other virtual reality attractions at Plaza Capcom, actually.

Hopefully we won't have to wait too long to see some gameplay. Stay tuned!

Rockman VR Announced - Virtual Reality Experience Coming to Plaza Capcom (Update)

Capcom Japan have announced Rockman VR: The Targeted Virtual World!!, a brand-new virtual reality experience coming to the Plaza Capcom Ikebukuro store in a few weeks. I repeat: this is a virtual reality experience, not a home console title.

The attraction will reportedly have players arming themselves with a "real" Rock Buster to take down various enemies from Rockman 11. Rockman VR will be playable exclusively at Plaza Capcom's VR-X suite starting July 18th, 2020.

Here's the plot synopsis:

"A peaceful VR world where everyone was having fun.... and Dr. Wily is planning to hack and conquer it! Oh, Rockman, put on the VR goggles developed by Dr. Right and enter the VR world to stop Dr. Wily's ambitions!"

More Rockman VR details are expected to be unveiled soon. And before anyone asks, no; this is not the "next major game" that's been in development since at least early 2019. Rockman VR is intended to be an attraction, limited to a very specific venue. The "major title" is currently being spearheaded by Kazuhiro Tsuchiya and his team at Capcom Japan.

UPDATE: According to Tsuchiya, the Double Gear system will play a large role in the experience. What's more, it will be in first person.

New Mega Man X Cards Introduced With Teppen's Latest Card Pack "Adventures of a Tiny Hero"

It's been a while since we talked about Teppen. The last time was at the beginning of March with the release of Zero and the "Hunted By Memories" card pack. After March, development of the game slowed down due the spread of COVID-19. Fortunately some normalcy is settling in and developer GungHo Online are ready to launch both a new hero and card pack.

The new hero, Felyne from the Monster Hunter series, arrived with a new card pack that includes10 brand-new Mega Man X-themed cards. And as usual, we're bringing you the clean card artwork and flavor text (spoken in Felyne tongue, no less) to enjoy. Check them out after the break!
