Geoff Keighley Shares the Story Behind Mega Man: Dual Override's TGA Reveal

Mega Man: Dual Override's announcement at The Game Awards this year came as a surprise, landing less than 48 hours after Capcom publicly spoke about expanding the Mega Man IP. And to take us back to that moment again, Geoff Keighley has shared on Instagram how the reveal came together.

Reminder - Mega Man: Dual Override Boss Design Contest Ends in Three Days

It feels like just yesterday the campaign was announced, but now we’re officially in the final stretch. The Mega Man: Dual Override Robot Master Boss Design Contest is set to wrap up on January 1, 2026 at 11:59 PM PST. After that point, submissions will close for good and anything sent in late will not be considered.

If you haven't entered yet, it's important to carefully read the submission rules (here). While the contest has received an enormous number of entries, even exceeding Capcom’s expectations, I have personally seen several submissions shared online that do not qualify because they violented a rule or two. One of the most common issues has been AI-generated art, which Capcom has explicitly called out as not being allowed.

A common response I hear regarding AI submissions is, “I’m using AI because I can’t draw.” The truth is, that does not matter. Historically, winning Robot Master and Net Navi designs have been sketched on paper using little more than crayons or pencils, often by children. The contest has never been about artistic polish. It's about the idea behind the design. The winning entry helps inform the final in-game design. So if you have a concept in mind, do not overthink it. Put it on paper and go for it!

The Final Teppen Cards Are Here

Following the announcement of Teppen’s end of service, a new card set was not expected. However, on Christmas Day, the development team added four Legendary cards featuring all playable heroes as a thank-you to players for their support over the years.

The four cards represent the game’s different elements, with X appearing on the green element card and Zero representing the purple element, as expected.

More Secret Level Mega Man Concept Art From Mauro Belfiore

Another batch of Secret Level Mega Man concept art has been shared by Mauro Belfiore, who previously posted several pieces last year. The Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse artist explained that these illustrations were created during the episode’s early exploration phase, when the team was experimenting to define a visual style.

Among the new material are both “anime-style” and more “realistic” passes, along with explorations of a battle-damaged Mega Man, which was previously seen in storyboards for a deleted scene.

Physical Release Confirmed for Mega Man Star Force Legacy Collection in North America (Update)

Although Capcom Japan promptly confirmed a physical release for Mega Man Star Force Legacy Collection, Capcom US and other English-language branches made no mention of it in their pre-order materials, which raised some concern. However, it looks like there's nothing to worry about after all.

Canadian retailers Video Game Plus and PnP Games have opened pre-orders for physical editions on Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 5, with both listings pointing to a March 27, 2026 release alongside the digital version. UPDATE: Amazon pre-orders are live! Switch here, PlayStation 5 here.

It’s possible Capcom US simply wasn’t ready to share those details yet, suggesting these are early retailer listings. More stores should begin offering pre-orders in the near future.

Keep your eyes peeled!

Capcom Uploads First Episode of Mega Man Star Force Anime to YouTube, More Weekly

Capcom will upload additional episode every Wednesday at 1:00 AM PST for a limited time. You can keep tabs on that with the official playlist here.

Mega Man Star Force Legacy Collection releases March 27th, 2026 for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series, and PC. Pre-orders are now available.
