Shooting Star Rockman Manga Getting Digital Reprint in Japan

Shooting Star Rockman has been seeing a teeny tiny resurgence lately, and that trend continues with Fukkan’s latest announcement. For the first time, all four volumes of Masaya Itagaki’s Shooting Star Rockman manga will be released as Kindle e-books, arriving on Amazon Japan on Friday, August 22nd.

The first three volumes loosely adapt the events of Shooting Star Rockman 1, while the fourth volume, Tribe Shooting Star Rockman Battle Side Story, includes some elements and characters from Shooting Star Rockman 2. Although the series never received an official English release, it was published in Indonesia and Thailand back in 2012.

Content-wise, these digital editions are expected to match the original print runs, but with refreshed logos and Fukkan branding. Pre-orders are currently live for those with access to Amazon Japan.

Rare Ryuusei no Rockman TV Game Has Been Preserved

After years of anticipation, Ryuusei no Rockman: Denpa Henkan! On Air!, a rare, Japan-only TV plug-and-play game from 2007, has finally been preserved.

Thanks to the efforts of MAME community member David Haywood, the game’s data has been successfully dumped from its original hardware. While it’s not yet ready for MAME emulation, this marks a major step forward in the preservation process. As with many XaviX-based devices, extracting and reverse engineering Denpa Henkan! On Air! has been a complex challenge. Now, with its data safely archived, the game is no longer confined to obscure, aging hardware. The next hurdle is making it fully emulatable and playable—updates will follow as progress continues.

For those unfamiliar, Denpa Henkan! On Air! is a collection of mini-games based on the characters and world of the first Star Force title. It featured a Rock Buster-shaped motion-sensing controller, allowing players to interact with the game through simple gestures. Curious how it plays? Check out some direct feed gameplay here.

The Mega Man Star Force Manga is Now Available in English

Mega Man Star Force (or Ryuusei no Rockman as it's called in Japan) is one of many Rockman manga that never received an official English translation. Illustrated by Masaya Itagaki, it was a trilogy that was originally serialized in Gekkan CoroCoro Comic from November 2006 to January 2008.

Now, thanks to the efforts of translation group Puff Blast, we can read all three books for the first time in English. You can find all the details after the break!
