Udon is Planning a Mega Man Battle Network One-Shot Comic

In a new interview with ShadowRockZX, Udon Entertainment’s Matt Moylan revealed that Capcom asked Udon last year if they had plans to do anything with Mega Man Battle Network. The catch is that Udon’s answer was basically: “We didn’t think we were allowed to.”

But things are different now. Moylan says Capcom made it clear that Battle Network AND Star Force are fair game, and that whatever restrictions existed in the past are no longer an issue. He even pointed back to Udon’s older Mega Man Tribute era, where they were explicitly told those characters were off-limits. His explanation is that it likely stemmed from older anime/manga-related licensing complications with Viz and Shogakukan, but those hurdles appear to be gone .

Moylan tossed out a couple additional details on what’s coming next:

  • The Free Comic Book Day 2026 bonus Mega Man Battle Network story will be written by David Oxford and will be 8 pages long.

  • A separate Battle Network one-shot is currently being planned as well, and Moylan teased that it’s being handled by a “big name.” Your guess is as good as mine.

  • As for Star Force, nothing else has been said yet beyond its inclusion in the excellent Mega Man Legends Timelines Cover D variant, and that there are no longer any restrictions from Capcom.

More updates on this front as it comes!

Mega Man X #1 Pre-Orders Open January 14th, Udon Store Variant Revealed

Tomorrow morning, Wednesday, January 14 at 9am PT, Udon Entertainment will open pre-orders for Mega Man X #1. Issue #0 hits stores the same day, and it acts as a prelude to this new run. Issue #1 is where the five-issue story arc officially begins.

You may have already seen the different covers for Mega Man X #1, but there’s also another one to add to the mix: an Udon Store-exclusive variant illustrated by Atomic Marshmallow, spotlighting Pallette and Layer. Even cooler, it pairs with Atomic Marshmallow’s cover for issue #0 — place them side-by-side and they form a connected collage. And with that in mind, you can probably guess who will be featured in their issue #2 variant.

Mega Man X #1 is expected to arrive in-stores February 18th.

Rockman: The Puzzle Battle English Translation Released

Originally released for Japanese mobile phones in 2011, Rockman: The Puzzle Battle was preserved last summer by the team at Keitai Archive. Now, thanks to community member Penguinstrain, you can finally play it in English.

Everything from the in-game text and descriptions to the game’s logo has been translated with the care and polish of an official Mega Man localization. You can see it in action in the footage above (thanks to RockmanCosmo and Yuvi).

As before, the game and its English translation patch are available via the Keitai World Launcher emulator. For the best experience, it’s recommended you use Windows 10 or later, as earlier versions may run into compatibility issues.

Review: Luminasta Mega Man Figure

Outside of video games, Mega Man has taken on plenty of physical forms over the years. We’ve covered many of them here on Rockman Corner — from model kits to action figures, the blue guy has done it all.

Today, we’re looking at something a little different: a prize figure. SEGA’s Luminasta line has taken on the Blue Bomber… but how did it turn out?

First Look at Mega Man Showdown Special #1 + Battle Network Bonus Story

Udon Entertainment is celebrating Free Comic Book Day 2026 with an exclusive Mega Man comic that offers something a little different. Mega Man Showdown Special #1 — a one-off issue completely separate from Mega Man Timelines — pits Proto Man and Bass in a one-on-one brawl.

But that’s not all! The book also includes a Mega Man Battle Network bonus short story, which at long last confirms Udon is now able to produce original Battle Network works, something that’s been difficult in the past due to licensing complications between Capcom and Shogakukan.

Mega Man Showdown Special #1 is written by Daniel Arseneault with art by Mic Fong. You can find the book on Saturday, May 2, 2026, at participating comic shops and local libraries.

Akira Kitamura Recalls Mega Man's Famicom Disk System Era, Mario-Like Prototype

Mega Man creator Akira Kitamura has a new Patreon entry that looks back at the untold planning stages of Mega Man 1, when the schedule was set for developing a game for the Famicom Disk System. At the start, the “team” was only two people: Kitamura himself and background artist F (YASUKICHI), and the post gives a really cool sense of how small and uncertain everything still was at that point.

A major turning point comes when programmer Mr. M (H.M.D.) joins the project. Kitamura describes an early temporary player character Mr. M built that moved with Mario Bros.-like inertia, resulting in movement that was incredibly smooth, fluid, and already polished enough to swap in immediately. The problem, Kitamura explains, is that Mega Man wasn’t meant to control like a momentum-heavy platformer. Because the game’s design demanded tighter, more precise input for aiming and shooting, the team had to wrestle with whether that inertia was a feature worth keeping at all.

Later, the team expands again when two new designers arrive: Keiji Inafune (INA/INAFKING) and TOM PON. Kitamura touches on how they began standardizing the workflow, essentially creating “rules” for how character and background designs should be built under 8-bit limitations, to keep everything consistent as more hands joined the project.

If you’d like to read the full story with all of Kitamura’s details and firsthand commentary, please consider subscribing to his Patreon here! It's an invaluable source of Mega Man history!

ThreeZero MDLX Bass and Fourth Armor X Revealed

ThreeZero’s Mega Man MDLX line is growing fast, with two new figures revealed: classic series Bass and Fourth Armor X. Prototype molds were shown at ThreeZero’s Hong Kong Toys & Games Fair booth, displayed alongside the already released MDLX Mega Man and X.

This is currently the only image available of the figures, but even at this early prototype stage, they’re already looking solid. No release date, pricing, or availability details have been announced yet. As always, we’ll share updates as they come in.

Mega Man ZX, Mega Man Legends Timelines Delayed to January 14th

Contrary to earlier reports, Mega Man is not dropping January 7th.

Udon Entertainment has confirmed that Mega Man Legends Timelines and Mega Man ZX Timelines have been delayed once again, now scheduled for release on Wednesday, January 14. Both issues are expected to arrive the same day as Mega Man X #0.

According to Matt Moylan, the delay was due to a miscommunication between the printer and distributor. As a result, the comics did not arrive in time for the planned January 7 release ahead of the distributor’s holiday break. The books have effectively been finished and sitting ready for the past two weeks.

Cancelled Project - Mega Man & Capcom Golf (2018)

Before its closure in 2018, Capcom Vancouver was home to several projects that never saw the light of day. In the years following the release of Dead Rising 4, the studio explored a number of concepts in pre-production, including an unusual and previously undocumented title: a golf game featuring the Blue Bomber.

Mega Man: Fully Charged 2D Pilot Episode Surfaces

What better way to kick off the new year than with a piece of found media? The long-lost 2D pilot episode of Mega Man: Fully Charged, produced by Man of Action (Ben 10, Generator Rex) and animated by Film Roman, has surfaced at last. Until now, only brief snippets had been seen nearly a decade ago, before the project was retooled by DHX Media / WildBrain Studios into a CG-animated series.

The 21-minute pilot showcases a number of differences from the final series, spanning animation style, character designs, voice acting, music, and even a slightly heavier tone. Where Fully Charged ultimately skewed toward very young viewers, this pilot feels more squarely aimed at an elementary to middle school audience.

We know a fair amount about Fully Charged’s production history, including early plans for a second season, but the reason it moved from traditional animation to CG has never really been explained. For now, all we can do is speculate.
