Classic Mega Man, Roll, Proto Man, Zero, Leviathan Confirmed for Rockman X DiVE

The Rockman X DiVE development team have confirmed that the first five non-X series characters appearing in the game will be classic Mega Man, Roll, Proto Man, Zero series Zero and Leviathan.

While this is sort of being played up as an April Fools' Day joke, I can tell you with absolute certainty it isn't. Not only were these characters referenced in very early datamine finds, but this gives credence to my initial X DiVE report: characters from *different* series will be playable at some point.

Although the development team did not say when these characters will be made available, they did announce a limited time gift:

"Furthermore, to celebrate this exciting news,
the team will send "Special Gift Box x (4+1)" from 2020/4/1 00:00 ~ 2020/4/1 23:59 (UTC+8)
Players who have not logged in during this period will miss this prize XDD
"

That's all for now! Stay tuned!

Rockman Unity's April Fools Joke This Year is a 690 Million Yen Rockman Ring

It's April 1st in Japan and that means it's time for Rockman Unity's annual April Fools' Day joke! This time around, they're hocking a ceramic Rockman ring that sells for a whopping 690 million yen... or roughly $6,413,550.00 US. It's already sold out, too. A Sigma and Mac ring are in the works, too, apparently.

So yeah; this *isn't* something you can actually buy. But, again, we've seen many Rockman April Fools' day jokes become real products in the past. These rings could very well become a real thing, albeit far more affordable.

Mega Man Zero 1-4, ZX and ZX Advent Soundtracks Now on Spotify, Apple Music, Steam!

What's sure to be a surprise to many, Capcom US have officially released digital soundtracks for all four Mega Man Zero games, Mega Man ZX and Mega Man ZX Advent on Spotify, Apple Music and Steam. Check 'em out in the links below!

Steam: https://store.steampowered.com/publisher/capcom/list/37726/
Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/album/53jTF5NJogiBRi0H2yMGtE
Apple Music: https://apple.co/2UhFrlU

Tracks made specifically for Mega Man Zero/ZX Legacy Collection are included as well, but the "Reploid Remixes" are sorely missing. Also, it's worth pointing out that each individual OST is $13.99. That's $83.94 for all six. That's totally fine, sure. However, I think it's worth pointing out that the physical edition of the recently released Zero/ZX Sound Box runs between 8,000 to 8,800 yen. That's around $72 on the low end. It's a matter of preference, but if you want the physical CDs, you can get them a bit cheaper.

Regardless, this is an admirable move on Capcom US's part. This is the first time these OSTs have been released in the US in an official capacity. And look at that; we now have ourselves a very CLEAN version of the Sound Box cover art, too! Isn't Nakayama just the best?

So sit back, relax and enjoy!

Fan-Game "Mega Man Perfect Blue" Looks to Hit All the Right Notes

Mega Man Perfect Blue is a fan-game currently in development by RRThiel and co. that not only captures the spirit of the classic series, but also aims to carve its only legacy. From its unique visual style to one banger soundtrack, Perfect Blue may just hit that mark.

According to director RRThiel, the game, which is being developed in the "Megamix Engine", will consist of eight stages: an intro stage, 4 Robot Master stages and 3 Castle stages. You can play as either Mega Man or Roll and each sibling plays differently. Mega Man plays mostly the same but he can now shoot while sliding, jump from ladders and charge all of his Special Weapons. Additionally, when Mega Man is out of Special Weapon energy, he can STILL use his Special Weapons! They'll just be a little weaker with reduced functionality.

As for Roll, she plays similar to Zero from the Mega Man Zero series but with a "streamlined" approach. She can only perform a single slash at a time but it's fast, potent and can be used while walking or dashing. Roll does not acquire Special Weapons from Robot Masters; instead, she learns different techniques like Zero.

Mega Man Perfect Blue is expected to release sometime in 2021. To keep your appetites whet until then, head to RRThiel's YouTube channel for a preview of the game's soundtrack!

Mega Man Megamix Creator Designs a Reploid to Fight COVID-19

"My daughter said to me, 'daddy, you should draw an Amabie to help defeat COVID-19'," relates Mega Man Megamix author and illustrator Hitoshi Ariga. With pen in hand, the renowned artist forged a hero to not only "fight" COVID-19, but to spread a message of hope and healing with the world.

And thus the antiviral medicine Reploid, Antivirus Armorvie, was born!

Per his daughter's wishes, Hitoshi Ariga's Antivirus Armorvie is a "tough" Amabie. Amabie are three-legged mermaid/merman yokai. According to legend, sharing drawings of Amabie will heal people in times of disease.

Ariga is not the only person drawing an Amabie in response to COVID-19. By searching the hashtag on Twitter or Instagram, you'll find a growing number of Amabie art created by people from every corner of Japan. Each and every piece carries the hope of warding off the epidemic in not just Japan, but the world.

If you would like create your very own Amabie (Mega Man-inspired or not), I implore you to use the above hashtag and share it on social media! It's a little something you can do to help comfort and inspire people during these scary and uncertain times.

Mega Man 1 & Mega Man 2 Mini Cabinet Coming Later This Year

Arcade1Up, makers of the officially-licensed Mega Man plug and play, are reportedly developing a mini tabletop arcade machine featuring,Mega Man 1 and Mega Man 2. The device is based on the classic Coleco arcade form factor and features a full LCD display, a rechargeable lithium battery, and Mega Man 2-inspired wrap around art.

A prototype version of the device was featured at CES 2020. The screenshot on the packaging is from Mega Man X3 -- Crush Crawfish's stage, to be exact. Oops! Hopefully this will be fixed for the consumer version of the device. Makes me wonder if that was meant for a totally different, unannounced Mega Man X product. Hmm..

Regardless, both the mini arcade and the plug and play dongle/controller are due to launch at an unannounced date later this year.

Rockman Zero "Setting Collection" Document Released by Takuya Aizu

To celebrate the release of Rockman Zero & ZX Double Hero Collection in Japan, Inti Creates president Takuya Aizu took to Twitter to share a little surprise. Out of nowhere, he released the first four pages of a 21-page "Setting Collection" document that was used as PR materials for Rockman Zero 1. This document was originally submitted to Capcom on February 15th, 2002 -- a little over 2 months before the game's release in Japan.

The tweet is still available at the time of this writing, so we can assume Capcom is okay with Aizu-san sharing the document publicly. Perhaps he will share the remaining 17 pages some day, too. But until then, you can read four available pages in English, translated by our own Sidier, after the break!

Mega Man Battle Network and Star Force Series Veteran Shinsuke Kodama Departs Capcom

It's time to say farewell and good luck to a veteran Mega Man staff member. Shinsuke Kodama, perhaps best known to us as the planner and scenario writer for Mega Man Battle Network 6 and the Star Force series, is departing from Capcom Japan.

Kodama shared the news on his personal Twitter account earlier today. He writes, "It’s a personal matter, but I left Capcom at the end of February to pursue a new challenge." Kodama also said that he will continue to support the Ace Attorney series from the outside, a franchise that he's been greatly involved with since 2012.

Kodama didn't say exactly where he's headed to next. Nevertheless, we at Rockman Corner wish him well! And speaking personally, thank you, sir, for the greatness that was Mega Man Star Force 3. Best story and scenario from that series, bar none.

An Interview with Ian James Corlett, The Voice of "Ruby-Spears" Mega Man

My two good buddies Cole and Twitch had the gracious opportunity to sit down for a chat with Ian James Corlett – the voice of Mega Man (and Rush) from the Ruby-Spears cartoon and Dr. Wily in Captain N, among countless other roles. The near 45-minute discussion features a nostalgic look-back at the show's recording sessions, the voice acting industry, and the answer to an age-old question: if given the opportunity, would Mr. Corlett return to voice Mega Man?

Check it out above!
