Mega Man x Brawlhalla Crossover Event Starts Today

As previously announced, the Mega Man event in Brawlhalla begins today, September 25th. The crossover introduces a Mega Man skin inspired by his design from Mega Man 11, along with various themed power-ups, cosmetics, and a couple of avatars. Rush and Beat also make prominent appearances throughout the event.

The Mega Man skin costs 400 Mammoth Coins, the currency used for unlocking skins, DLC, and more. It, along with its cosmetics, will stay in the Brawlhalla store indefinitely, so there's no risk of it being removed. If you're interested but can't afford it now, you won't have to worry about missing out. If you have zero interest in this, well, the announcement trailer is worth a watch for the animation alone.

Brawlhalla is available on all major home consoles, PC, iOS, and Android.

We also have a first look at the cover art (via Previews World) and the following solicitation:

"When Mega Man grows up, he must face his greatest challenge of all... life as an adult!
The days of battle against Dr. Wily are long since gone. The world no longer needs Mega Man, and a grown-up Rock now leads a peaceful life working as a dentist. The Robots Masters have new careers as well... Cut Man is a barber, Flame Man is a chef, and Top Man is an online influencer. Yet as these dreamlike days pass by, a shadow of turmoil lurks on the horizon..."

Pre-orders for Little Mega Man haven’t surfaced yet, but I wouldn't be surprised if that's coming sooner than later.

Dr. Mark Gatha Talks G Gundam and Mega Man X

Mark Gatha is a legend in these parts. While many know him best as the English voice of G Gundam's Domon Kasshu, we remember him for his portrayal as X. From 2004 to 2006, Gatha brought X to life for English-speaking audiences like never before, delivering a performance that balanced compassion with commanding presence—one that remains beloved even after all these years.

In celebration of G Gundam's 30th anniversary, Mark Gatha sat down for a video interview with Jessica Kalei-Sheffield to discuss his role as Domon and his transition from stage and voice acting to becoming an orthopedic surgeon (Gatha's segment begins at 51:22). Toward the end of the conversation, Gatha briefly reflected on his time as X and shared a story about signing a PSP for one of his patients. It's a short but sweet exchange that’s sure to leave a smile on your face.

Although it's unlikely that Dr. Mark Gatha will return to voice X, it's good to hear from him and know he's doing well.

Marvel vs. Capcom Fighting Collection: Arcade Classics Now Available

They said it couldn’t be done, but here we are. The digital version of Marvel vs. Capcom Fighting Collection: Arcade Classics is out today for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4 and PC (with an Xbox release planned for 2025). The physical version is set to release on November 22nd.

This collection brings together seven of Capcom's classic Marvel arcade titles, including the original Marvel vs. Capcom and Marvel vs. Capcom 2—a particular highlight for Mega Man fans. Both games feature familiar faces like the blue bomber, Roll, Tron Bonne, and her army of Servbots.

The collection features an extensive art gallery with several Mega Man-related pieces, including never-before-seen drafts of special moves and combos. For example, the Rush Drill was originally designed as an underground digging move. There's also an early concept for Hyper Mega Man that predates the Mazinger-inspired version we’ve come to know and love.

If you grew up playing these games in the arcade, this collection offers a great shot of nostalgia. And if you’re new to the series, it’s an easy way to dive in, with online play (rollback included), modern display options, and simplified combos for beginners.

Whether you're revisiting old memories or exploring for the first time, it's worth a look.

Proto Man and Solar Blaze Mega Man Figure-Plushies Up for Pre-Order

For over a decade, Great Eastern Entertainment has held the licensing rights for Mega Man 10, continuing to produce posters, keychains, and other knick knacks long after the game’s release. Now, following a brief hiatus, the manufacturer returns with four new figure-plushies.

Standing at 4.5 inches tall, these poseable plushies feature PVC heads and soft bodies, and are set to ship in November. The lineup includes three Proto Man variants (happy, neutral, and battle-ready) and a Mega Man based on the Solar Blaze special weapon. Each is priced at $19.99, according to Big Bad Toy Store's listings.

It’s a bit of a random lineup, but that’s how Great Eastern typically operates with Mega Man. This is likely just the beginning, though. If there's a character you'd love to see next, let us know in the comments!

Development on Mega Man X8 16-Bit Fan-Game is Complete

After two and a half years of development, AlyssonDaPaz's 16-bit Mega Man X8 "demake" is finally complete and available to play.

The demake, as previously reported, recreates X8 in the style of the Super Nintendo trilogy, while incorporating modern quality-of-life improvements such as widescreen support and 60 FPS gameplay. All of the original game’s stages are included, with some staying faithful to the original while others—like the Ride Chaser stages—have been completely reimagined. The Chip shop from the original game has been removed; instead, items are now hidden throughout the stages and can be used immediately upon discovery. There's some other updates too, like the addition of the Special Weapon radial from Mega Man 11, which allows you to quickly switch weapons at any time.

It's important to note that X is the only playable character. Since AlyssonDaPaz developed the game solo, the scope was deliberately limited to avoid lengthy delays. Nevertheless, X8 fans should be satisfied with the final result! You can download it right here. Enjoy!

Capcom Partners with Sega Prize for Rockman UFO Catcher Plushies

Rockman-themed UFO catcher prizes have been a staple for nearly as long as the franchise itself, with the first batch hitting machines shortly after the release of Rockman 3 in 1990. The tradition continues with confirmation of a new wave, set to appear in Sega UFO catcher machines in winter 2025.

Leading this collection is classic Rockman, featuring his iconic Rock Buster and a seated pose, perfect for display on any desk or shelf. While details on other characters in the line are yet to be revealed by Sega, they are expected to follow a similar style.

These prizes often make their way outside of Japan through specialty import retailers, so even if you can't try your luck in person, you'll likely have a chance to snag a few online.

Mega Man Makes RE Engine Debut for Capcom College Course (Updated)

Capcom Japan announced a new game development course at Kindai University, where students will learn to use the RE Engine. The announcement included an image showing Mega Man in a test stage running on Capcom's modern proprietary engine. This is the first time Mega Man has been featured in the RE Engine, as recently-released titles like Mega Man 11 were developed on the ageing MT Framework. (UPDATE: Nikkei confirms that the students will develop a "new" Mega Man game in RE ENGINE. The finished product is highly unlikely to be available for commercial distribution.)

At first glance, it might seem like the RE Engine assets are reused from Mega Man 11. The K-Drone definitely is. However, there are a few subtle details that might be worth a closer look.

First Look at Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster MegaMan.EXE DLC Costume

Following last month's teaser, Capcom has unveiled the first look at Frank West's brand-new MegaMan.EXE costume for Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster... and it's every bit as, uh, interesting as you imagined.

The MegaMan.EXE costume will be featured in the "Mega Man Pack" DLC alongside outfits based on Lan Hikari and Tron Bonne. The pack will also include background music tracks that can be played in the shopping mall, such as "Running Through The Cyber World" for MegaMan.EXE, "Hometown" for Lan, and "Flutter vs. Gesellschaft." Notably, the trailer suggests that the version of "Running Through The Cyber World" in the game will be "slightly different". It's unclear whether this implies a previously released arranged version, or something created specifically for Dead Rising. We'll have to keep an eye on that.

Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster releases to digital storefronts on September 19th.

A Closer Look at the Lost Film "Do Your Best, Rockman: Earthquake Safety and Fire Safety"

Do Your Best, Rockman: Earthquake Safety and Fire Safety is the crown jewel of "lost" Mega Man animation. Produced by Sankyo Educational Film Company, the short film was briefly screened in Japan in the early 1990s and has never been seen again or released on home video. Until recently, it was considered a myth—a shared memory among only a few fans in Japan who recall watching it at school as children. The discovery of an activity book related to the film a few years ago finally confirmed its existence, though we still have very little other information about it.

However, I'm excited to share that we're one step closer to uncovering more about this elusive flick. Twitter user turtlejump2 reached out to share images of every page from a copy he found in storage. Thanks to this, we now have our best look at the film yet.

The Secrets of Zero's Mega Man X1 Design

Despite not being widely recognized or used today, Zero's original design from Mega Man X1 is worth revisiting, especially following recent comments from former Capcom planner Magigi Fukunishi. Fukunishi revealed that, during the initial story planning phase, Zero's X1 body was drafted as a replica made by Dr. Cain, who lacked the knowledge to properly repair Zero after his discovery. This isn't reflected in the final product, but it's an intriguing "what if".

In the video editorial above, Rockman Corner staffer ColeManX takes us through this original concept, the impact they would have had on the events of Mega Man X2, and an analysis of why the design is so great in the first place (also featuring lovely original art by Sprinqgueen). There's a lot more to it than the age-old "round shoulders vs. block shoulders", that's for sure.

Nice work, Cole!

Archiving Game Informer's Mega Man Coverage

Game Informer, the venerable U.S.-based gaming publication, has come to an end. Following a sudden wave of layoffs on Friday, parent company GameStop announced the magazine would halt all activities, closing the curtain on its 33-year run in print. This shutdown also led to the closure of Game Informer's website, which housed an extensive collection of editorials and special content.

Thankfully, some of the pivotal Mega Man pieces have been preserved, including Game Informer's comprehensive behind-the-scenes featurette on Mega Man 11. Here’s what has been saved so far...

Udon Entertainment Announces New Mega Man Comics for 2025

During today's SDCC panel, Udon Entertainment dropped a major bomb: they have acquired the master comic book license for Mega Man. Not just the classic series but also X, Legends, Zero and ZX! While Battle Network and Star Force are not part of the deal (remember, both series' rights are shared among a few different parties, not solely Capcom), fans of the "Robot Timeline" will undoubtedly be thrilled.

It's important to note that the image shown during the panel is not meant to be the cover of a single comic but represents the overall license. Udon plans to create new comics based on different series, with the first books scheduled to launch sometime in 2025. No information regarding the artists or writers has been shared yet.

Stay tuned for more updates as they become available!

Little Mega Man will be out in December, and X DiVE in the second quarter of 2025. No word on Mr.'s release date.

But, wait! There's more. Udon also announced that they are collaborating with Capcom to produce a brand-new art book that will feature a wide array of official art and concept art that hasn't previously been collected in an "Official Complete Works." Content will include Mega Man Legends, Mega Man ZX, ZX Advent and more. Planned for 2025.

Another day, another Jada Toys reveal. The third figure from Mega Man Wave 4 just made an appearance at Comic-Con. To my surprise and delight, it's Proto Man!

When it rains, it pours—or lightly sprinkles. The steady stream of new figure reveals from Jada Toys continues today with the introduction of Snake Man from Mega Man 3. Joining Gemini Laser Mega Man, Snake Man will be part of Wave 4, along with an unannounced third figure.

Following the trend of previous waves, the fourth figure is expected to be another Robot Master, likely from Mega Man 3 as well. Hopefully, we won't have to wait too long to find out. Hang in there!

Jada Toys "Gemini Laser Mega Man" Revealed at San Diego Comic-Con

It's preview night at Comic-Con, and Dan Veesenmeyer is on the scene, checking out the new figures and collectibles from Jada Toys. Featured prominently is their Mega Man line, showcasing Waves 1-3, along with a new, previously unannounced figure: Gemini Laser Mega Man.

The figure's color scheme and pose are a direct nod to the Mega Man 3 weapon. Interestingly, it's displayed next to a Penpen, hinting that it might be a pack-in. But the question remains: which wave does this guy belong to? Wave 2 is confirmed to include Hyper Bomb Mega Man, Elec Man, and Cut Man, while Wave 3 features Helmetless Mega Man, Wood Man, and Bubble Man. Since Jada Toys indicated that each wave would consist of at least three figures, this could be our first look at Wave 4.

We'll have more information as Comic-Con unfolds over the next few days. Stay tuned!

Capcom: "Mega Man is Highly Valued, Ongoing Game Development Considered"

During Capcom's 45th General Shareholders meeting, one attendee asked about the company's plans for the Mega Man series. Capcom's response was to the point: "Mega Man is one of our highly-valued IPs and we are considering how to create games for it on an ongoing basis."

This response mirrors a similar one from roughly a year ago, where Capcom indicated that future titles depend on "the development of a solid concept, ideas, and gameplay." They also mentioned that future ports of back catalog titles would involve "addressing technical issues."

Now, on a somewhat related note, another investor inquired if the results of the Capcom Super Elections, where Mega Man was a very popular candidate, would influence the production of new titles in general. Capcom replied: "We value all our IPs and are considering ways to utilize them not only in games but in other media as well. For games, we believe the gameplay and specific appeal that an IP holds are important. We take a multifaceted approach to our games, including new titles, remakes, ports, and collections."

So the quick and dirty version: Capcom continues to evaluate the development of new games regularly, and we'll keep seeing Mega Man (and other legacy IPs) in different media.

Once you've watched the mod in action in the trailer above, head over to NexusMods for the download. Make sure to carefully follow the instructions and install all the necessary plugins. Once that's done, you can unlock the dynamic duo from the "ZXA Special Supply Box" or Memory fragments under the Custom Tab Store.

Thanks to Jo Li KMC for the tip!

Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster to Include MegaMan.EXE, Lan Hikari and Tron Bonne Costumes

Dead Rising and Mega Man have a long history together, and the tradition of outfitting Frank West in blue bomber-themed gear continues in the upcoming Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster

During today's Capcom Next digital event, several new details were revealed about the remaster. The "Digital Deluxe" version will feature 17 new Capcom-themed costumes for Frank and 17 unique BGM tracks from various Capcom IPs. The "Mega Man Pack" will include costumes based on MegaMan.EXE, Lan Hikari, and Tron Bonne, along with BGMs that can be played in the shopping mall: "Running Through The Cyber World," "Hometown," and "Flutter vs. Gesellschaft."

No images of the costumes are available yet, but the teaser silhouettes give us a good idea of what's to come. I'm sure Frank will look fantastic as Tron, especially since he once pulled off a decent Roll Caskett. What an icon.

Mega Man X DiVE Global Version End of Service Announced for July 30

The servers for the global version of Mega Man X DiVE will cease operations on July 30th, NebulaJoy has announced. All in-game purchasing options will be terminated soon, although a specific date has not been confirmed, according to an update on the game's official Twitter. Regrettably, there is no information yet on whether NebulaJoy will offer refunds for any paid Elemental Metals, a gesture that Capcom extended to players of the original version in 2023.

The global version, maintained by NebulaJoy, has remained online for the past three years, outlasting the original Taiwan and Japanese versions. In February 2024, a representative indicated they were in talks with Capcom to extend the license and keep the game online. However, with the existence of Mega Man X DiVE Offline, it appears these efforts only secured a few additional months.

We will provide updates on EoS as more information becomes available.

Icon Heroes' Mega Man License Expires; Products Cancelled and Removed

If you've been curious about the fate of the $600 Mega Man X2 Ride Chaser diorama (pictured above) or any of Icon Heroes' Mega Man products, here's an update.

Icon Heroes has informed us that their license to create merchandise based on the Mega Man IP has expired and will not be renewed. As a result, all Mega Man products in development, including those not yet announced, have been cancelled. Previously released items like pins, puzzles, and bobbleheads are no longer available for purchase directly from Icon Heroes. Any remaining stock available through third-party retailers is likely the last of its kind.

Icon Heroes secured the license to produce Mega Man merchandise in 2020, promising a range of high-quality items. Unfortunately, those plans never fully materialized, as evidenced by the off-model diorama that one reader aptly described as looking like a cake topper. If you need a good laugh, BBTS has archived all the stock images of the thing for posterity.

So there you have it. If anything else from their collection piqued your interest, now's the time to snag it before it’s gone for good.

Rare Rockman Amusement Ride Gets a New Lease on Life at Arcade Museum

A rare Rockman amusement ride, which is often found in poor condition (sometimes even beheaded), has found a new home at the Sargasso Arcade Museum in Kita Karuizawa. The owners of this museum, which they affectionately refer to as a "retirement home" for classic arcade machines and amusement hardware, have done an incredible job restoring this obscure piece of history to pristine condition.

Produced by Hope Co. in 2000, the ride can carry two people and includes buttons that make Rockman speak and play two, let’s say, charming renditions of classic BGM that aren’t exactly easy on the ears. Although you can’t visit in person regularly, you can catch glimpses of their collection and updates on their official YouTube channel. The museum does open its doors for special events, so if you’re in Japan during one of those times, you might get a chance to give it a spin!

Curious to see the ride in action? Check out popostore’s footage from a few years back here and here. That particular unit has seen better days, but it gives you an idea.
