Mega Man 1-6 Hit Mobile Next Week

The image above says it all. All six NES Mega Man games are headed to iOS and Android next Thursday, January 5th. Remember, they're being sold individually - this is not Legacy Collection (far from it). Be aware, we still don't know how much they'll cost!

Pre-registration is still open, FYI.

Heads up, folks: codes for the free Mega Man Legacy Collection 3DS home menu themes are expiring soon. December 31st is your last day to redeem your codes, which were included with the standard and deluxe editions of the game. After the 31st, the only place to find them is the 3DS Theme shop $2 a piece.

Happy holidays!

Mega Man X Mobile Updated to Support iOS10

Mega Man X for iOS received a small update today: the game is now fully compatible with iOS10. It runs significantly better on up-to-date iPhone firmware - crash free! What's more, a blue border has been added to the left and right side of the screen. This was done to accommodate iPhone 6, iPhone 6s and iPhone 7 resolution.

Unfortunately the game still plays as good as you remember. I can't recommend this particular port; you're better off with the 3DS Virtual Console version!

Thanks, CAPKobun

First Footage of Mega Man 1-6 Mobile

Our first look at the Mega Man 1-6 mobile ports for iOS and Android is here. Unfortunately things are looking a bit choppy. More often than not, framerate chugs along where it shouldn't. I mean, really; even the original 2010 Mega Man 2 iPhone port runs smoother. With a little less than a month before launch, here's hoping the team can iron this out.

Performance aside, the footage shows off a couple new additions too: revised title screens with new logos and a charge shot meter for Mega Man 4-6. Passwords for Mega Man 2-6 have been removed as well. There's no telling how saving games will work, though. It won't be long before we find out - all six games launch in January.

Mega Man 1-6 for Mobile Confirmed for North America

Japan won't be the only region receiving Mega Man 1-6 on iOS and Android. Capcom Mobile confirmed all six games will be headed stateside in January 2017. You can pre-register and sign up to be notified when the games launch here.

As previously announced over the weekend, these ports contain additional features to ease-in new players to the Mega Man formula. You'll be able to toggle between auto firing, auto charge and even adjust the speed of the games to your liking.

Once more, I'd like to remind everyone this has nothing to do with the new mobile Mega Man game we've been hearing about. That title is expected to release sometime after April.

Grab the New Rockman Unity App and Wallpapers Here

It's very unlikely the Rockman Unity app will come stateside in any official capacity, but that shouldn't stop you from enjoying it. Thanks to the gracious efforts of Replioid_21XX, you can download the .apk file right here. Don't worry; the app itself is free. This way you can skip the hassle of setting up a Japanese Google Play account.

Also, here's that fantastic wallpaper by Shinkiro in three sizes: 640x960, 750x1334, and 1080x1920. Normally this wallpaper is won by "defeating" Cut Man in-app. But hey, here it is.

Thanks again, Reploid_21XX! Enjoy, guys.

Happy 29th Anniversary, Mega Man!

It's that time of year, folks. Nearly 30-years ago to the day, the original Mega Man made it's North American debut. As the decades passed, the franchise's legacy continued to grow, spawning seven series, TV shows, countless merchandise, and a passionate fanbase.

Although we haven't seen a new, traditional game in some time, next year still looks to be promising for 'ol blue. Mega Man X is finally getting his Marvels vs. Capcom due and there's a new animated series coming along. For a comprehensive list of all things Mega Man coming in the new year, check out this post.

In my neck of the woods, it's a cold, blistery day. Like you, I'm still waiting for something new. But you know what I'm going to do? I'm gonna curl up, get comfy, and play one or two Mega Man games I've never played before. There's over 130 games out there. I haven't played them all. I challenge you, in lieu of a new game, to play something that's new to you. Pick up one of those games you haven't played; you might just discover a new favorite.

All Six Rockman Famicom Games Coming to Mobile in 2017

All six original Rockman Famicom games are headed to iOS and Android on January 6th, 2017, Famitsu reports. Each title (sold individually, might I add) are said to offer beginner-friendly gameplay options: auto fire, auto charge and adjustable game speed.

But wait! There's more...

Happy 10th Anniversary to Mega Man Star Force

It's December 14th in Japan right now and that means Ryuusei no Rockman: Pegasus, Leo, Dragon debuted on this day TEN years ago. It's been a whole decade since we were introduced to the seventh Rockman series; ten years since Capcom introduced us to Subaru/Geo and Omega-Xis/War Rock. Time truly flies, no?

The clip above was our very first look at the original game, then tentatively known as "Shinsei Rockman" (more commonly known as "Shinsei Rockman ZN"; no one really knows where the 'ZN' came from). I fondly remember the excitement and skepticism surrounding the game's announcement back in the day. As a follow-up to the highly successfully Rockman EXE series, no one really knew what to expect. Personally speaking I found the first game enjoyable, but Star Force 3 has been, and always will be my favorite.

Happy 10th!

Japanese Poll Says Players Want Mega Man Legends Sequel More Than Any Capcom IP

In a recent press release, Capcom expressed great interest in reviving dormant intellectual properties, i.e developing new games for series that have not had new entries in a while. In response to this promising prospect, GameSpark polled their readers on which Capcom IP they'd like to see revived. Mega Man Legends topped the poll with over 200 votes. The hopes for Mega Man Legends 3 are certainly not dead overseas.

Second to a new Mega Man Legends, 150 GameSpark readers said they'd like to see a new Battle Network followed by a hundred votes for a new Mega Man X. A new classic series entry landed at #6 with fifty votes, and a new Star Force at #10 with a little less than 50 votes.

It's worth mentioning this is not an officially sanctioned poll, but it's interesting to see where the mindset is for our friends across the pond.

Official Rockman X Novelization Announced

Ahead of Rockman X's 25th anniversary, a novelization of the series has been announced. The book is being produced by Japanese publisher PHP Institute, written by Tsubasa Todoroki, and illustrated by none other than Rockman X manga artist Yoshiro Iwamoto. It is tentatively scheduled to release in Japan on January 26th, 2017.

Presently, it remains unclear just how much of the X series will be covered in the book. Iwamoto and Todoroki promise forthcoming details shortly. What's more, there's no word on availability outside of Japan. Importing is always an option, but there's little assurance the book will be available in English at this time. I'll keep you posted nonetheless.

Mega Man X Dons First Armor in Extended Marvel vs. Capcom Infinite Gameplay

The reveal of Marvel vs. Capcom Infinite's Captain America and Morrigan brought an extra surprise: X's First Armor. Though not officially confirmed, it would appear X dons his X1 duds when engaging one of his Super moves. The move in question comes in at 0:32 in the clip above.

I know it's not the best video but it'll make do for now. I'll update this post when Capcom rolls out the official version. UPDATE: Got it!

First Marvel vs. Capcom Infinite Gameplay Trailer

Mega Man X's appearance in the first gameplay trailer for Marvel vs. Capcom Infinite is brief but oh-so-sweet. It's a little odd seeing X dishing out punches and kicks, but very much appreciated.

Marvel vs. Capcom 4 Reportedly in Development; Reveal Soon

I've withheld posting these rumors until something a little more substantial came along. Lo and behold, Polygon confirms it: Marvel vs. Capcom 4 is happening.

"Although Capcom hasn’t officially announced the game, we’ve been told the company will unveil Marvel vs. Capcom 4 this week alongside Sony’s PlayStation Experience event where the Capcom Cup 2016 Street Fighter 5 tournament will be held," writes Polygon.

Sources go on to tell Polygon that "fans of the series should expect Marvel vs. Capcom 4's roster of Marvel characters to draw strongly from the cinematic universe that Marvel Studios has popularized — and has full control over — during the past decade." That means fans can expect to see characters from The Avengers or even Guardians of the Galaxy. With a greater focus on MCU characters, this could mean we'll little to no X-Men characters.

Polygon's sources did not provide any information regarding which Capcom characters will join the fourth bout. With PlayStation Experience not too far off (December 3-4), perhaps we'll hear something sooner than later. Fingers crossed for more Mega Man!

For a cool 150 Yen, users can purchase a Rockman EXE theme pack to turn the app into a PET of sorts. Various characters from the EXE series appear in place of the usual iconography and graphics to help you in your travels.

Although Navi Time is available in some markets outside Japan, the EXE theme pack remains entirely exclusive to Japan.

According to Gamer, the event will be split in two parts for attendees to participate: "Episode 1 - Prevent Panda Car's Runaway!" and "Episode 2 - Defeat the Source of the Runaway Pandacar!" Attendees that clear both events (via stamp rally) will be rewarded with an exclusive Rockman EXE prize.

Various Rockman EXE x Hanayashiki collaborative goods and beverages will be on hand for attendees, too. You can get a look at those after the break.

Mega Man X3 Joins North American New 3DS Virtual Console

Mega Man X3 finally joins the growing library of Super Nintendo Virtual Console titles on New Nintendo 3DS today. The SNES classic will set you back $7.99.

Aaaand that should be it for SNES Mega Man games! Capcom still has a tight leash on Mega Man Soccer and the Super Famicom version of Rockman & Forte, though. Both games haven't been re-released on any Virtual Console (the former's GBA version did hit Wii U) so I wouldn't count on that changing anytime soon.

Who knows? Maybe things will change with the Nintendo Switch's inevitable Virtual Console.

Silver 'Bubble Lead' Mega Man Headphones Now Available to Pre-Order

Originally outed by Play-Asia several months ago, Emio's silver "Bubble Lead" Mega Man headphones are officially available to pre-order. They'll run you $99.00.

Aside from a fresh coat paint, these are the exact same headphones that previously launched earlier this year. I wouldn't go in expecting improved audio specs. They're not bad headphones, but there are better sounding products out there for the same price. If you're a die hard collector, though, you might want to slip a pre-order in ASAP - only 500 units will be produced.

Mega Man shirts are a dime a dozen these days, but these? These Mega Man and Proto Man inspired casual shirts from CafeReo are pretty spiffy. You probably couldn't get away with these on, say, an interview but a casual Friday at the office? Hell yeah.

CafeReo hopes to launch the shirts later this Spring for 9,800 Yen (about $100 U.S). No word on availability outside Japan, though CafeReo products aren't too hard to find. See more images here.

It Looks Like Servbots Are Coming to Capcom's Captive Palm

Mega Man Legends' Servbots are quietly making a comeback but not in the way you'd hope. As seen on Capcom character designer Chisato Mita's Twitter, Servbots are headed to the fourth episode of Captive Palm, an otome app about a hot inmate with amnesia. Mita has been prepping 3D Servbot assets since early October.

Servbots have cameoed in several non-Mega Man games for nearly 20 years (yes; Mega Man Legends is turning 20). So it should come as no surprise the tradition continues unabated. It remains to be seen how Servbots will fit into Captive Palm's realistic setting, though. Maybe they'll appear as action figures on someone's shelf?

Yusuke Murata Has Mega Man On the Mind

Before hitting it big with Eyesheild 21 and One-Punch Man, manga artist Yusuke Murata was but a child when he won the Mega Man 4 and Mega Man 5 boss design contests. His winning sketches became Dust Man and Crystal Man, respectively. He was 12-years-old at the time.

Years later, Murata has found international acclaim. And yet he will be a fan of Mega Man no matter where his career takes him.
