Rockman X DiVE - Redesigned "Swimsuit Roll" Now Available

On the heels of last week's announcement, the redesigned Swimsuit Roll has not only been revealed but she's available in Rockman X DiVE starting today. This week's content update also brings the return of the Summer Vacation for Lord of Snowy Plain stage and another chance to get the "Swimsuit Alia" skin.

Find all the details after the break!

As previously reported, her new design is due to "changes to existing content rating system on APP platforms". Roll is back as a limited character alongside Swimsuit Layer, Swimsuit Iris and the Aqua Buster until July 21 at 15:59 (UTC+8).

As for the rest of the content this week, we have the return of the Summer Vacation for Lord of Snowy Plain stage until July 20. The stage has no online ranking and the main rewards are Swimsuit Alia skin, a few Summer Mettaur Gigant cards, the Summer penguin Card, 200 EM and the other typical rewards.

Dr. Light's Lab and Rush's Chip Recycling Station are back, too. Race Mode yields memories of the Heart Spray Gun until July 20.

Season 15 of ranked match and the following card are available today too:

  • Bass.EXE
  • Life Aura
  • MegaMan.EXE
  • Charge Shot
  • Magma Dragoon Card

The new summer event is around the corner. Grab your swimwear and get ready for some exciting content!

  1. As I said in the other thread just today… "cute, but generic."

Amusingly, her sandals are currently still dark blue, in game. (For those who haven't seen.)

  2. Well, I guess they really did roll (eh? eh?) with the more cute look. While I don't really have any stake in the censorship argument for this particular issue, it is a better design in my opinion.

Side question, Protodude or anyone else who has an opinion on this, now with the global version betaing it up, should I abandon the original version? It would be painful to loose the units that I've acquired though, spent a lot of time with my Awakened Zero.

    2. Wait, what? That has to be a coincidence. It wouldn't even make sense for Roll to wear those colors for that purpose.

    3. I think the trans flag has a different shade of blue and pink, also i dont think theres white on the flag, i could be wrong though.

    4. there was actually an interview with capcom taiwan last month that said roll is canonically trans. i didn't think they would reference that with the new design, but it's pretty cool!

    6. Waitaminute, when did capcom taiwan have control over whats canon in mega man, i thought that was capcom japan? (Frieza: "I'll ignore that.")

That doesn't even make sense, Roll is a LITERALLY programmed robot, she was explicitly built and designed the way she is. In other words for all intents and purposes she was designed and assigned how she is and what she does. Give me a break... I know people want to be represented in every media they consume but this is getting out of hand.

If this were true, you wouldn't have been able to keep this to yourself. You would've Tweeted it in a heartbeat, called it "pandering for a bad game", and it would've made the rounds.

That's the Green I know, anyway.

    11. That is the Trans flag colors, and it's in stripes for the most part. Well, if you think about it, all the robots in Mega Man are...machines. They aren't male or female in the physical sense despite appearances. Gender is more about people's roles in society and culture, rather than biology. And...that's putting it simply. It's complicated and that's okay, people are complicated. Of course, it must just be a coincidence.

    12. Leave the psuedo science to Dr Light and the politics out of this franchise.
It's not needed and not wanted.

    13. Everyone knows the trans colors weren't intentional, but it also isn't a huge deal to point out the similarities. Coincidence or not, this isn't something worth getting upset over.

    14. This page really needs to get rid of being allowed to be called anonymous and just go with a screen name, which is not only anonymous just the same, but distinguishable.

    15. @Gary Daniel Agreed.
I will say this one time for the record: I will no longer reply to or converse with "Anonymous", whoever they are/is. I won't reply to joke of the day either. End of line, man.

Here's the thing. The International Age Rating Coalition don't give a darn about any of that. Ratings boards work on more of a "what you see is what you get" philosophy. Ergo, if a character looks like a pre-teen human girl, then the character must be treated like a pre-teen human girl, regardless of whether or not the "pre-teen human girl" is actually a genderless android or even a 75-million-year-old god of time-and-space.

In any case, I'm almost positive that in this modern age of telecommunication and social media, where even throwaway statements from thirty-years ago are being documented and analyzed, something like a canon, long-time Rockman character suddenly being rewritten as transgender would have been very newsworthy – especially considering what a hot-button topic gender identity is, these days. Yet, the closest thing I can find to something like that is on a Tumblr blog which identifies her as "nonbinary" purely because she's not named "Roll Girl" (unlike "Mega Man" or "Splash Woman"). Though, as a counter-point, she is called "Roll-chan" by characters in Japanese media, so…

  4. Already had her since last year. Even with the design change, she's no less of a badass with that Water Shield and Aqua Ring.

  5. I will say it again, i think the change was unnecesary, but i do like this design, but i liked the old design too... i cant say if i like this more or less.

  6. Well, at first I thought it was weird they changed it, but "school swimsuits" are really generic and I'm disappointed whenever I see them, like when her design was revealed last year. This new outfit is more appropriate for her character, and it's more unique and cuter too!

  7. imagine the reaction of that anon who spent 400$ on her just because of the design back then lol

  8. I see absolutely nothing sexual with the original design.

  9. It's not a terrible new design. It actually makes me think of those "cute girl eats ice cream on beach" vintage ads from the old days.
