"The Last Day of Sigma" - a "Maverick Hunter X: Giga Mission" Comic

It's been a little while since we last checked in with Maverick Hunter X: Giga Mission. The fan-game, spearheaded by Ácido Cinza, tightly grabbed the attention of the community with its flashy Mega Man Xtreme-inspired visuals, fast-paced gameplay and colorful original characters.

However, development has faced significant challenges in the face of the pandemic. While the dev team continue to grapple with that, Ácido and co. completed a Giga Mission comic called "The Last Day of Sigma."

Read on for details!

Originally conceived as a prologue to the game, the comic is a self-contained story charting the demise of, well, Sigma. It's a poignant, imaginative take on how a final confrontation between age-old adversaries could play out.

You can read The Last Day of Sigma from this Twitter thread. The final portion includes a closing message from Ácido regarding the status of the game itself. I wouldn't skimp on it; it's pretty important.

Finally, if you enjoyed The Last Day of Sigma, do consider throwing your support to the artist, VRHyoumaru via ko-fi. He's been having a rough go and could really use some "coffee". Anyone who pitches in gets access to a watermark-free PDF of the comic, clean pages and creator commentary!

We at Rockman Corner wish the Giga Mission EX team well in their future endeavors!

    1. I hope so. Twitter is a cesspool of hate, pain, and despair, clouded by the Dark Side of the Force... only the Matrix of Leadership could light such a darkness.

Idk why i typed this but i did

  4. Well, as I said, Sigma's consciousness was erased in X8 but the virus without it lived on until the Mother Elf deleted it, so this is clearly not canon, thankfully. Also the idea of Sigma separating from the virus and being redeemed is silly. Even before infection, he was rough and not too friendly, so the way he appears in one screen after being redeemed doesn't fit his character.

    1. Were is your sauce?

Also i think sigma being redeemed isnt a bad idea it could be an interesting story imo.

    2. Sauce? You mean source. Why don't you play the games and find out for yourself vs asking questions? Even a line in an ending from X8 showed Zero saying that if Lumine was right, Sigma isn't coming back. Also you should watch the trailer of X8 before it was released. Also watch how Sigma behaves in X4's flashback. Also watch how Sigma behaves when you kill him in X8 and how final his response really is with nothing but his corpse remaining after that and acting shocked that he was defeated and no witty comeback about how he will return or anything, then you fight Lumine. The virus lives on though through new gen reploids. This has been known for almost 2 decades. Where have you been? Of course I was already in my early 20s when X8 came out in 2004 and I'm willing to wager many here weren't born yet or hadn't play X8 or paid attention to the story or read from sources like Inafune, or they would realize that both Wily and Sigma are integrated into the virus and both Wily and Sigma were possessing the Final Sigma W in X5 (even the name of that form indicated fusion and Sigma saying 'feel our combined rage', and the skull remnants (motif) that killed X which was then called ?? instead of Sigma was Wily in that instance, just as he possessed his Isoc avatar and when disembodied, said go Zero, you are the strongest robot, also called ?? (Wily's voice actor even).

This comic is not canon and is Giga mission stuff, if you look it up. Also if you actually played the games, you would know that Sigma is embedded into the virus and the virus has his DNA after becoming the virus, and in X8, he is said to not come back. Go play the games. I actually played them when they came out while many here weren't even alive then. Sigma is irredeemable if you seen what Sigma did throughout the series, especially in X5, and you would realize his integration into the virus is also irreversible and the Mother Elf deleted the virus later on, just like Wily's viral self also integrated into the virus is irredeemable. IF sigma is redeemable, why not all the other mavericks who were killed and not coming back?

Also play the Zero games or go look up Megaman Complete works to read more to learn about the Mother Elf that was created by studying Zero's body and the virus and what lead up to the virus being deleted and even project Elpizo where Weil believed reploids should be controlled while X wanted them to have equality, Weil then corrupting Mother Elf into dark elf to cause reploids to go maverick masquerading as typical maverick attacks (Elf Wars) in order to gain support for project Elpizo (controlling reploids) using the old body of Zero with a new mind implanted called Omega. That lead to Weil getting in big trouble.

Oh, and, please watch this on top of the other reasons I said he isn't coming back (unless they retcon it): https://youtu.be/49zLk8BFBkM?t=84

    4. You can emulate them easily. ePSXe is a good PS1 emulator, PCSX2 is good for PS2 (you can download the bios for it), and SNES9X is a good SNES emulator. You can also buy the recent collections that came out for it on Steam and other systems. I bought the collections recently. I recommend it. If you use Steam, it is cheap.

  5. So what I'm getting here is that it seems like Giga Mission EX will probably never come to full fruition, and I have to say that I find that rather sad...

Still. The way life has been the past couple years, it's understandable.
