25th Anniversary Techno/Rock Arrange Soundtracks Detailed (Update)

(UPDATE: Hi-res covers added courtesy of Gamer.)

A little while back, we caught wind of retail listings for a Rockman 25th Anniversary Rock Arrange Soundtrack, and a Rockman 25th Anniversary Techno Arrange Soundtrack. Today we have some tiny new details on both.

First off, both albums are seeing a delay. They're now anticipated to release on October 10th instead of August 29. Not too bad of a delay, but a delay nonetheless.

The Rock Arrange album will include the the handiwork of Kenji Ito (Mana, SaGa), Kazuki Ohta (FFXII, Valkyria Chronicles 3), Mitsuhiro Kandea (Odin Sphere, Tekken 6), Yoshimi Kudo (Tekken 6), Tetsuro Sato (Psyvariar), Hitoshi Sakimoto (Tactics Ogre, Breath of Fire V), Hiroshi Tanabe (The Prince of Tennis), Azusa Chiba (Let’s TAP), Yoshitaka Hirota (Chrono Trigger), and LivestRow. Meanwhile the Techno Arrange album has Masahiro Iwata (Mushihimesama), Mitsuhiro Kaneda, Yoshimi Kudo, Hitoshi Sakimoto, Denji Sano (Love Synthesizer!), Yuto Takei (Gran Turismo 5), Azusa Chiba, Takeshi Hama (Devil May Cry), Far East Recording and Shinji Hosoe (Mega Man Network Transmission).

TEAM Entertainment have yet to reveal the official track listing, but the covers for each album may hold a hint. You see, the jackets feature the sprites of a very specific set of Robot Masters. The Rock Arrange album has Heat Man, Bubble Man, Wood Man, Air Man, Crash Man, Metal Man and Elec Man, and the Techno Arrange album has Heat Man, Skull Man, Pharaoh Man, Hard Man, Quick Man, Snake Man and Flash Man. So yeah, LOTS of Rockman 2 Robot Masters. That would seem to imply the focus here is, you guessed it, Rockman 2.

All speculation, of course. We'll just have to wait and see what happens.

  1. Of course they would do that. Now I am feeling the rage of Krazy Monkey.

    Sigh.

  2. I don't hate Megaman 2. Music from that game is great, but so is the music from the other ones. I'm still waiting on an official Needleman remix from Capcom, but for now I will have to enjoy the wonderful fan remixes, which isn't a lot. http://youtu.be/fXPn2gW3So4

  3. IIRC, the games the tracks are from looks like this:
    Rock: 2222221
    Techno: 2343232

Huh. Composers just must have liked 2 the most (or didn’t care and just picked the track that’d be the most popular and works with their style the best).

I mean, yeah, 4-6’s songs were weird, but they could be great with the right arrangement and instrumentation. 7-10 sound too new for these guys to cover.

DMC and Chrono Trigger, ooh, oughta be interesting.

  4. Is it just repack of the old one?
There was 2 CD, 1 techno and 1 Rock arrange, 1 blue 1 red, both Dr. Willy's cover.

  5. Didn't they already make rock and techno remix albums? This doesn't feel like a lot of effort...

  6. Ugh, too much Mega Man 2 music, not enough Mega Man 5 or 6!! Glad they threw in Snake Man and Pharaoh Man though.

  7. Hitoshi Sakimoto and Kenji Ito...nice! Granted, I would have liked to see even more VG composers that I'm familiar with, but still, it's awesome that they're reaching outside the core company!

...More Rockman 2? But... why? There's so many other good songs! Hell, look at RM3, or X1, or hell, the whole freaking series!

Why always that overhyped overrated game?

  9. Very interested for Shinji Hosoe's work...but...kinda getting annoyed with the continuing 8-Bit bandwagon and especially all the MM2 tracks. The classic series has more music than just that. Much more.

  10. I love MM2 music! A lot! It would be a lie for me to say I dislike it. I do agree that there are great (maybe even better) soundtracks from other games that should also be done, but I guess whatever's popular sells better. I just hope this is going to be at a price that is affordable.

  11. Piratebay is your friend.

  12. You had me at "Kenji Ito."

Also, Megaman 2 may be over-hyped as a game and whatnot, but even the most skeptical of you have to admit that it had a pretty kick ass soundtrack. Not as good as, say, Megaman & Bass' soundtrack, but still pretty darn good.

  13. Disappointed with the cover art, even more disappointed with the track selection. Here's hoping though that the actual covers will be of quality to help make up for that. Though I will admit, I do quite love MM2's soundtrack...

Lol, this is enough to make me say that they shouldn't even be bothering to celebrate MM's anniversary. They should just celebrate the anniversary years of MM2. :P

  14. I love MM2's soundtrack, so I can't complain. However, it's been redone a LOT over the years, so I'd also like more new remixes.

Still, it will be interesting to compare these new remixed tunes with the Minibosses' MM2 compilation.

PressStart compiled all of those sprites on the album cover. Some of those Robot Masters in it have new hurt frames or different designs! What a nice little detail!

  16. Ironically, we now have hi-res photos of a cover featuring a sprite from the glory days of the 8-bit age.

Of course. It makes sense that Capcom continue the streak being so lazy that even the 25th anniversary soundtracks' cover feature an 8-bit sprite for Mega Man. TYPICAL.

  17. I'd rather see some new megaman artwork for the cover rather then seeing the 8-bit sprites plastered all over everything like capcom has been doing lately. the whole paste some 8-bit sprites on a cover thing is very lazy.

I dont know If capcom realizes this but there's more megaman games from the original series then just the 8-bit nes games.

  18. I heard a preview of the Rock arrange awhile ago and the song I heard was Dark Man Stage 1 from MM5
so hopefully we get a fair mix of 1-10 like adverstised...but we'll see...
