Is 'Project X Zone' Capcom, Sega and Namco Bandai's Mystery Game?

Capcom's enigmatic collaboration between Sega and Namco Bandai continues to elude. When we last checked in with the project, a chromosome resembling Mega Man X popped up in Capcom's petri dish. Now, the petri dishes have been shattered; the chromosomes stolen. In their place, a countdown has surfaced, ending on Wednesday, April 11.

What's more, a curious trademark has been discovered from Namco Bandai: Project X Zone. Speculation says that's the name of our mystery game. One only need to look at the project's URL for confirmation: pxz.channel.or.jp. Well what do ya know... the 'pxz' is probably an acronym for Project X Zone!

Guess we'll just have to wait and see how this all plays out. More information about the game is expected to hit this coming week. Stay tuned!

Thanks to everyone who sent this in.

  1. We REALLY need to start the equivalent of operation Rainfall for this game right now. We musn't take any chances, and should spread the word. Afterall, the sooner we do, the better chance we have of it coming over here.

  2. We don't even know what it is yet.

    My gut is it's going to be underwhelming.

  3. It's almost certainly a fighter, but let's hope it's SOME kind of action or even rpg game!

    I just pray it's not a fighter!

  4. Project= Some Namco thing.

    X= Mega Man.

    Zone= Sonic.

    Wishful thinking, but hey.

  5. @PC: I'm pretty sure the X is pronounced as "cross", just like in Namco X Capcom and Street Fighter X Tekken.

    @Cucumber: A Banpresto developed game for the 3DS is almost certain to be a fighter? That seems unlikely. If anything, I actually think it being an RPG is more likely, like Namco X Capcom was (in fact, this could even end up being a spiritual successor).

    And ya, we should try to spread the word, because if this really is anything like NxC, then the chances of it coming out over in the West are slim to none. If we raise awareness of it and there's enough demand, we could actually end up getting it. I'm still sad that Namco X Capcom never came out over here, as it seems to be a pretty amazing game.

  7. @ Clown Prince: That's nice to hear! I don't really know anything about Banpresto, but come to think of it, I do remember Namco X Capcom and reading something about all the dialog being too complex to bother translating to english or something like that. It kinda looked like one of those jap strategy board games or something, I wasnt sure what exactly it was all about.

    I sure hope we do get something out of this project!
