Preview Pages for Mega Man #29: Blackout

If you’ve got a hankering for some Archie Mega Man, you can check out Destructoid for a preview of this month’s issue. In addition to the usual sample pages, Destructoid's also obtained a nice batch of line art Mike Cavallaro. Cavellaro, who will be handling the art for the next four issues, is a seasoned industry pro, having worked closely with the folks at DC Comics to IDW. What's more, he's served as a background colorist in cartoons such as Codename: Kids Next Door and Batman: The Brave and the Bold.

Issue #29 kicks off a brand new story arc entitled "Blackout: The Curse of Ra Moon." The issue will go sale in shops starting tomorrow.

  1. Actually I wouldn't be so sure about the issue being in sale on shops tomorrow, the issue is not mentioned in a single comics release list anywhere this week so it is very likely it has been delayed to next week.

  2. I dont like the arts. I prefer SPAZ! That's why I gave it up. That's my taste. If you disagreed then please respect my taste, thanks. Disappointed!

    1. In a perfect world sure that'd be nice but SPAZ is unfortunately a very, very slow artist it's why he only does covers now.

Sonic Genesis for instance which was supposed to be done by him had to have another artist come in and quickly finish up his ink work to even get it out on time.

Wouldn't be surprised if him being slow was the crux of why the Mega Man comic was pushed back a few months when it first started.

  3. Why are you even reporting on this? MM is dead, M No. 9 will be the new MM, long live M No. 9, let us continue to show it our full support! MOAR no 9 news! Maybe one day it will get a comic and the attention MM should have had, all in favor of renaming the page Protobeck's Number 9 Corner? tee hee.

    1. Megaman is not dead as long as the fans keep it around. As cool as Mighty No 9 is I'm getting sick of hearing about it being the next Megaman. He's his own thing. He's not Rock, nor will he ever replace him in the true fans hearts.

    2. @harpuia it was a gentle rib regarding some of the rabid No. 9 fan's on various MM fansites :P sadly many do think this way.

    3. I'd agree with VileMKII that the fanbase has been rather vocal as of late praising M#9 and condemning Megaman to the scrap heap but that's what opinions are about. As long as the fans don't totally give up on a possible revival and respect each others opinions on the status of M#9, then I still have hope that we haven't completely gone the way of all MM fansites becoming M#9-lite.

Now, if only we could agree to disagree politely about other portions of the Megaman game history, we'd probably be a much better fanbase for it...but, such is a pipe dream for the moment.

    4. I'm also getting sick of seeing some people drag M#9 into everything Mega Man related. I'm really hoping we're not going to see a parade of "Who cares about Mega Man? We've got M#9 now." replies every time Capcom, Archie or another company makes a MM announcement.

Especially since there's nothing to the game yet besides some artwork and conceptual screen renders. If I had a dollar for every game that looked great in production and ended up sucking, I'd have enough to buy all the next-gen consoles. For those who trot out the "It's made by the same people, it's got to turn out great!" shtick... At one point most Star Wars fans thought the same about Episode I.

  4. I really want to read this issue but I am doubting it will be released today, as well. None of the comic shops on Ebay are selling it as a pre-order. Issue 28 also mentions that the release date is the 17th, not the 11th, which kind of blows since it is so late in the month. :/ Dammit, Archie!

I'll be checking my comic shop just in case, but I am not getting my hopes up. I can only hope issue 30 will not be released as late. I hate releases where you have to wait an extra week or two! Waiting a month is bad enough.

  5. @ Leona

I've noticed the people who subscribe from Archie get the comics in a week before the comic shops. When TMMN had a running forum I would always be a week late talking in the comic thread because I wouldn't spoil it for me and I support my local venues
