Mighty No. 9 Will Be On Mac and Linux

If you missed the news earlier today, the Mighty No. 9 Kickstarter has reached its second stretch goal of $1,350,000, promising Mac and Linux versions of the game. This is great news for fans who prefer those operating systems, and it brings us once step closer to that sweet, sweet $2.5 million goal.

As a reminder, other platforms beyond PS3, 360 and Wii U are a possibility. Even though Nintendo 3DS and PlayStation Vita versions are probably more likely than PS4/Xbox One, Comcept must reach certain stretch goals first. Additional ports require more resources, after all.

Keep fighting the good fight and pledge!

  1. i'm really hoping that we make it to 2.5 million. it's almost close to 1.5 million right now.

  2. A wise move, this, since it will likely allow for easier porting to other Linuxes and Linux-derivatives on different CPU architectures, should the need arise - such as Android, I would imagine, since it's a pretty famous one.

This is a worthwhile read for anyone who may not get why this was an early stretch-goal, and why it's a frequently-seen stretch-goal for indie games in general: http://blog.wolfire.com/2010/05/The-state-of-Mac-and-Linux-gaming . Note, though, that the article is three years old now, and some things have changed a bit since then, particularly that Valve has since made Steam available for Linux, and the usage of Android has soared.

Now, onward to the rest of the stretch-goals! :D

  3. As of this comment, it's already $20k away from reaching the $1.5 million mark for New Game+ and Turbo Mode.

I'm convinced this will reach the final known stretch goal by the 15th of this month.
