Mega Man Dual Pack Cancelled In Canada? (Updated)

Well, this is a little unsettling. I've received a few reports this morning from our Canadian readers regarding Mega Man Dual Pack for the PlayStation Portable. As you no doubt know, Dual Pack was recently released in America a few weeks ago, with a Canadian release penned for October 11th. Now it seems Dual Pack isn't Canada-bound at all.

Those who've pre-ordered the game via GameStop/EB Games are reportedly receiving e-mail notifications saying the "product has been canceled by the publisher." Solidifying these reports, the apparent removal of Dual Pack from GameStop.ca's listing, and confirmation from a Canada-based EB Games employee (source). Uh, yikes.

Unfortunately, specifics were not divulged regarding why it was cancelled, nor is it apparent if the product will be offered again at a later date. I've reached out to a Capcom and GameStop representative for comment, so hopefully we'll have an update on this shortly. In the meantime, do bear in mind Dual Pack is readily available for purchase in America. You can find it at retail or online.

UPDATE: Sven has stepped in to comment. "It's a Gamestop exclusive. You'd have to ask Gamestop if they'd sent any North of the border." Not exactly the answer we were hoping for, so we're gonna have Still no word on that front, however. I've no news on that front at the moment. Stay tuned!

Thanks for the tip, folks.

  3. So Capcom even cancels a fairly easy to produce dual pack? I guess we'll never get any Mega Man items again.

"Even if Capcom releases a new MM game they'll just recall it shortly after"

    fix'd.

i'm anxious to see the firestorm that's about to brew. if this doesn't tip the couldron, i don't think it'd take much more to do so.

  5. I think we need to let the Man rest in peace guys. If you really want to enjoy the Rockman/Mega Man games, just go play the old ones by either looking on ebay or download it.

    R.I.P. Rockman.

  6. What makes you think that this will ignite anything?
Canadians can just import it from america or pirate it, like all psp users do.

  7. It's only canceled in Canada, guys. They will be on ebay before you know it and you can import to your heart's content.

  8. wouldn't it be cool if they announced X9 and then cancelled it when it's 95% complete

  9. If this gets confirmed, I'm totally not missing the chance to do a third "cancelled" news title for the year! Let's drive that nail completely down! ;-)

  10. That's kind of strange, I seen a few copies of this at my EB Games and I live in Canada.

  11. i can see it now...

"Marvel Vs. Capcom 3 delayed due to ballance issues with characters Zero and Tron Bonne. The characters will be removed from the game, due to capcom having quote "difficulty ballancing them". when asked if this was because of them being mega man characters, capcom simply said "we can't say what we're doing with mega man right now, but rest assured, it's not because they're mega man characters.""

  12. Anyone still want to argue Capcom isn't throwing a hissy fit cause Inafune left?

  13. Capcom: Quick! Erase Mega Man from existence as subtle as possible. I repeat, as SUBTLE AS POSSIBLE!!!

  14. Unsettling?

These are old games repackaged that didn't get released on one territory. Hardly fuel for the Capcom-hating fire.

  15. Um, Legends 3 being canceled in all markets I can understand as being irksome. Canceling a bundle of two previously released (and readily available via secondary market) games I'm having a hard time following the "Capcom rage" over.

Not to mention the sheer fact that we don't really know if this has actually been canceled or if it's just some sort of shipment snafu.

Either way, you're not missing anything, Canada. Ebay it. Or, you know, hop the border.

  16. undamned is one of the few thinking straight here.

They released it in the USA, so the issue must be just a small publishing quirk, and that's it. Better wait for the news update.

  17. If anything, this cancellation doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me.

  18. Geez, nothing is safe...

In this case, they can import from the U.S. at least. Still, even if not terribly significant, it is moronic and unsettling.

  19. it would be so awesome if capcom announced a brand new console mega man game and then promptly cancelled it

  20. *Groan*

I really should move to America. Sure, it's purchasable online, but not everyone has access to online shopping.

MegaMan news just gets more and more depressive.

Glad I found both games when they were both in the walmart Discount Bin some time ago.

But yeah, this does suck for us Canuks who've never gotten a chance to play the titles. Both are great in there own way. MMPU for the new stuff and level designer, MMMHX for the anime cutscenes and vile mode.

Also, for those wondering, Canadian exclusions are nothing new. I've been pestering various stores like EBGames (Gamestop's name up here) for a Data East arcade collection for Wii, only to find out that they don't even have a UI for it; meaning I can't even get it used, as it doesn't exist to them.

  23. EVEN A DAMN PACK WITH ALREADY MADE MEGA MAN GAMES GETS CANCELLED?!

    What the hell, Capcom?

  24. "a gamestop exclusive"

great. now they're blaming gamestop for their shortcomings.

however, if they ARE right, then this is gamestop's problem, and we're flaming the wrong people. either way, it's an injustice considering the recent mega fails.

  25. Gamestop exclusive, huh...

Is that why EB Games in Canada has some in stock? But I'm certain that EB Games is owned by Gamestop...

Heck, I thought EB Games was in the process of replacing their chains in Canada under the name Gamestop...

  26. Capcom continues to show how much they hate the Mega Man franchise.
