Mega Man Zero/ZX Legacy Collection Officially Confirmed for Switch, PS4, Xbox One and PC

Hot on the heels of yesterday's big PlayStation Store leak, Capcom today officially announced Mega Man Zero/ZX Legacy Collection and confirmed it will hit all modern platforms: PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One and PC. More info after the break!

According to Capcom, the game will be released in North America for $29.99 on digital and physical format and in Europe for €29.99 / £24.99 only on digital format.

These are the main features of the collection (Extract from Capcom's Press Release):

• Zero and ZX series on modern consoles –
o Join the Resistance as the titular fan-favorite protagonist in the four Zero games.
o Defend the innocent from Mavericks and discover your destiny as either the male or female protagonists of ZX and ZX Advent.
• All-new competitive rush mode – Z Chaser Mode allows players to race to complete challenges from both the Zero and ZX games. More details on this mode will be revealed at a later date.
• Newcomer friendly Casual Scenario Mode and Save-Assist System – New players can jump right into the futuristic universe of the Mega Man Zero and ZX series with a new Casual Scenario Mode. Bounce back from mistakes using the new optional Save-Assist system to revive at the most recent map checkpoint without losing a life.
• Improved visuals and layout options – Experience the games as they were first released with a monitor filter option that features the original sprite art, or toggle the smooth filter on for a clean look to the charming, classic sprites. Freely choose from a variety of layout options for the ZX series’ dual-screen displays and controls at any time.
• In-game gallery and music player – Take a look back at the history of the Zero and ZX series with each collection’s massive repository of original production art, including a music player filled with tunes from the original games. Those who pre-order the collection will also have access to the ten special arrangements included in the Mega Man Zero/ZX Reploid Remixes.
Note: The in-gallery will feature over 600 pieces of original production art from each series, while listening to the music player’s complete selection of both original compositions and new arrangements.

As you can see in the trailer above if you pre-order the game, you'll get the Reploid Remixies, an additional ten new in-game songs - one new stage remix in each of the six games, and four bonus Music Player tracks.

Remixed tracks confirmed so far are:

Mega Man Zero 2 - Departure
Mega Man Zero 3 - Trail on Powdery Snow
Mega Man Zero 4 - Esperanto
Mega Man ZX Advent - Trap Phantasm

As of right now, the game is available for preorder via STEAM and this are the system requirements:

Furthermore, for those attending PAX West, the six games in the collection will be playable on the show floor.

We will update the article when preorders for the other platforms are available and also, come back tomorrow to get all the information about the Japanese release.

  1. Neat preorder bonus.
I'll pay extra to play the games with the Remastered Tracks :)

I wonder if there will be a disc and if the preorder applies to that as well.

  3. How can it be possible that DS games appear on competing consoles ?

    1. Because Megaman is not a Nintendo IP.

    2. the touch screen was mostly used for little things like switching quickly from one transformation to another (which you could also do using the L button), or display the stage map at the same time you play. they can do without it.
That's one of the things i liked about theses game. In the early days of the DS, too many devs though that they just HAD to make a game that use the touchscreen even when that did'nt mesh well with the type of game they where making.

    3. NONEdragon : Ok so explain me why Rondo of Blood, Symphony of the night, Street Fighter V, Rockman Rockman, Irregular Hunter X are not on switch ?

Because Sony won't make it happen, this is BS

DS should not appear on other systems

    4. Capcom owns Megaman. They can release it wherever they want to. Some games, like SFV, were co-funded by Sony. Nintendo did the same thing with Bayonetta 2 for example. Such a thing is rarely the case, so what you suggest is the exception, not the rule.

You should be happy more people get to play these games...

  5. I'm very curious about Z Chaser

  6. I'll be getting both the PC and Switch versions pre-ordered as soon as possible.
I'm already tripple-dipping with the Zero series since I own both the entire of the GBA releases as well as the DS Zero Collection, might as well go all the way to have this series on every console possible and quad-dip.

  7. Digital only for Europe... yeah, what's what I've come to expect from Capcom. Time to import yet again!

  8. Wish they could made a feature that lets you play the game with the remastered os, mythos ost and zx/zxa tunes :(

  9. Digital only for Europe, AGAIN. Or will it be like for MM11, when only the switch version was digital only?
Time to hunt down a DS in working condition.

    1. Or you could just import the game? Pretty easy solution.

    2. No thanks, I'll be pirating the DS games instead. Not going to pay absurd amounts of money on shipping for a bunch of 10+ year old games.

    3. Is it region-locked? Cuz that'd make it a pain in the neck.

    4. PS4 games, in general, aren't region locked. I play imports from time to time, no problem.
PS3 and Vita work too. Some games MAY be locked, but if that's the case those are the exceptions.

  10. Why is this thing so damn taxing? 4 gigs for some GBA and DS games with a crappy UI overlay and some filters. Maybe I can understand the storage capacity at 7 due to all the extras (music. art, modes etc) but even then judging from the X collection these things aren't even that quality or hires. But that freaken ram just screams weak optimization. I can't stand these collections, they are always unnecessarily taxing.

And no I don't have a toaster, I have 3.8ghz AMD qc, 12gig ddr4 installed, RX570, with over 3t of ssd storage free. I just don't like poorly optimized and overly obnoxious software for no reason other than to eat unnecessary memory.

  11. I'm curious about how they are going to adapt the DS gimmicks into this. I bet they had to redo the games completely just for that.

  12. Woaw, this is just... I had gotten so used to do nothing but complaining for a few years that i think i forgot how to express joy, and suddenly we see lot of Megaman content poping up.
    I can't wait for this.

  13. Here i was wondering if we could expect any language other than english, i guess i can just go eat my Harrap's dictionnary and cry.
I mean, it's one thing for the classics game where the plot is as simple as in the classic serie, but for the post X4 games, that's another story.
If Capcom want Megaman to be as recognised as he should be, they should tell whoever is in charge of Capcom Europe to try and actually promote thoses games here.

But i'll relax, Now is not the time to complain, i have been wanting a Zero/ZX collection for a while now.
Also, i can't wait to hear the remixed tracks Trap Phantasm and Trail on Powdery Snow are among my favorite Megaman OST. I wonder if there will be a remix of Canon Ball, too. Sure there are already a lots of differents versions of that theme, but it's like X5's X vs Zero, i never get tired of it.

    1. According to Steam:
Interface - Spanish, English, French, Italian, German, Japanese, Chinese (Simplified and Traditional).
Subtitles - Spanish, English, French, Italian, German, Japanese.
      Voice - English, Japanese.

Is most likely we'll have to switch versions for different language like in the XLC.

  16. I wonder if the Zero games will keep the e-Reader features like the DS collection did?
I also hope we see voice language options for the ZX games; it was kinda off-putting to go from Japanese-only in the first game to English-only in the second.

  17. This is awesome, really enjoyed the zero collection on ds and the zx games but to be able to have these on a actual home console is great. I hope eventually we get a legacy collection for both legends games with the tron bonne spinoff, and a legacy collection with the 2 megaman arcade games, wily wars, soccer, battle & chase, rockman & forte, the 5 original gameboy games. I'd buy them. Would be amazing to own most of the Megaman games on one system.
