Vote On Mega Man Volnutt's Legends 3 Armor

Kicking off the first event since the Devroom's return, Capcom is seeking feedback in regards to a potential new armor design for Mega Man Volnutt. The dev team has narrowed their choices down to three designs, and it's your job to vote on which looks best:

Choice A is Volnutt's Legends 2 design, while choices B and C are entirely new, each slightly more detailed than the next.

Art Director Ishihara-san has provided some commentary for each design, which may help you make your decision. You can read up on that over at the Devroom.

Voting will take place from now until Monday, April 25 at the Devroom. Drop a comment in the post and you could be eligible to win prizes! Depending upon how much attention the poll gets from social networking outlets such as Twitter and FaceBook, the size of the prize will increase!

Lend Capcom your thoughts, and place your votes here!

  1. I may be minority on this one, but C is the best looking one for me. I always wondered what a kid was wearing making him look like he has ball joints for some of his joints.

  2. A or B. B would be nice to change it up a bit for the 3rd game but C is just eww around the lower torso

  3. I like the human look of C.

  4. The lack of pants in type C greatly annoys me, but other than that, they’re all pretty good XD

  5. Hopefully this won't be a final decision.

  6. I think C would be a better choice if Mega Man were a girl, if you know what I mean. Definitely going with B. His look needs an update, but C's a bit -too- extreme for me.

  7. The number of people voting for C worries me, because I just plain don't like C at all.

Not only is it awkward, especially since that only his bum is being covered by something, but it's also just too Battle Network'ish and doesn't go with the style of Legends. Also, I don't see how Design C makes him look 'more human-like' at all.

    I voted for B.

  8. Actually... it should be (A)... considering that Volnutt is still stuck out there. He could/should change to (B) whenever he comes back to Earth, though.

    (C) looks a lot like MMZ's Art Style, which doesn't really fit.

  9. C with the crotchpiece from b.

  10. @ ZeroX_Syaoran:

Because he can remove and change parts of his body. So it kind of makes sense. C is cool, but the waist area reminds me TOO much of EXE. And although the human look is neat, it just doesnt really fit with a character the can mix and match himself.

I say B. update to the 2 design.

  11. I chose B, but whatever the outcome, I'll be happy knowing that Mega Man will look like a boss.

  12. erm... for me:
    shoes of C, legs-waste of B, torso of A... :X

  13. Hm... Go old school, or update?

@ the comment about his time up in Elysium: True, he would still have his armor from the second game, but having an armor upgrade during the game makes a pretty good idea. Besides, I'm kinda getting tired of the underwear-looking armor most Robotics-timeline MM characters have. (Like X and Zero, for example.)

I'mma go ahead and say C so that everyone else can brawl on me now. XD

Even though I've never liked the "robot diaper," design A is my favorite.

  15. Yes, and I am against the "robot diaper". C has the most potential.

  16. I feel like this is a game of Spot The Difference.

  17. As hilariously creepy as this may sound, Capcom should have really let us pick in terms of body part designs instead of overall designs.

I want the design of C with the crotch plate of B and with some of the color scheme of A.

  18. I really don't care about the pants detailing Volnutt has.

I only actually have an opinion about his specific design regarding his hair. As I hate how it hung over his face even with his helmet on in 2.

And there seems to be nothing here addressing that. Other than inferring it may come standard or packaged with the MML2 armor.

  19. Most people would stick with Design A since its familiar but I think this is a fantastic opportunity to start a real tradition where each installment in a series sees a tweak to Megaman's default armor. Its already happened between the first two games so why the hell not? Let's step out of our comfort zone this time! Let's do something exciting, dammit!

(Voted for Design C: its a lot like Design B but its cuter XP)

  20. I want a cross between B and C! Wouldn't you want some midsection protection while fighting giant reverbots?

    ReplyDelete
  21. I can't believe how many people like C! It's so battle network and I HATE it! Either A or B are fine, but I keep forgetting that this game still has a chance to be... Different thanks to the fan-input.

  22. I voted for B. I prefer the MML1 color scheme with the light blue on the upper limbs, and the slight increase in detail, means that he gets some visual improvements without losing the silhouette of the original design.

C is just a no for me. If anything the design feels lazy, giving just basic human shaped body parts to areas and not bothering to design anything unique. Besides who'd wear armor and forget to cover such an important spot?

    ReplyDelete
  23. The C armor would definitely open up lots of opportunities and it seems logical to go with it.

I don't think it reminds me so much of .EXE as much as it does something that other guardians would wear. Because Rock have been in outer space for a while now, no? And it would make sense for him to have a new armor that allows for customization... because that's cool.

  24. c is what i would choose.

MegaMan Volnutt looks cute panty-less like the 2nd form of Copy X... that works for me, personally...

i mean, all three are good...

But for me it's C, tee hee hee... :x

  25. I like both A and C.

    ReplyDelete
  26. B for me. It's a nice mix between the Legends 1/2 designs that just seems to work. I understand what some people say about C, but I'm thinking about what I'd actually be seeing while playing, and I just don't think it would look that great.

C is just like he's wearing nothing at all. nothing at all. nothing at all. Stupid sexy Flanders.

    ReplyDelete
  27. I'd have to go with B on this one.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Somebody said that it'd look nice if we were able to pick and choose the parts. Here, have some eyecandy to play on that idea.

    http://i51.tinypic.com/nxwggk.png

Just don't get your hopes up! The odds that the mere idea would ever leave this thread are ziltch.

    ReplyDelete
  29. I know right, Vinnie D? That's the one part that I don't like about C.

    ReplyDelete
  30. C has less protection. What if dark MegaMan makes Roll or Tron angry and is "kicked" by them? XD

    ReplyDelete
  31. What an awesome new devroom update! While I like Legend 2's armor, it's time to change things up just a bit, just like they did with Roll. I say B is the absolute prime choice for the third Legends game. Still keeps the flavor of both 1 and 2's armor, but adds little updates. It's well rounded and perfect, I say. C just does not look well with that open area. Looks to be leaning a bit more towards a Zero style hybrid or something. B shall have my vote and hopefully it will be the victor. Or better yet, you can change armors in game so everyone's happy! You can wear your old armors and use these new ones too. =)

  32. Although I like B, I like C more. I agree with what the artists were going for with the fresh new look. The think B is that it is too similar to the other 2 and almost no change at all. If the game is going to progress things should be kept new. Sometimes less is more in an overall design concept. It's like Apples designs and how they changed electronics, so now everyone is trying to be like them. Apple simplified designs, removed unneeded buttons, consolidated hardware and it works and looks really sleek. And I agree that the human look shows more of a progression. He went from ball joints which look like a marionette doll to connected hips and fingers which look more human. And for the love of geebus, why is everyone making such a huge "eww" to his midsection? He's just a video game character and shouldn't be sexualized in the first place. How come Tronne is allowed to have developed A-cups? I bet most gamers don't complain when we have to stare a Morrigans, Taki, Chunli, Cammy, Ivy, or Mai's (or every other video game female) completely oversized breasts that seem to defy gravity and have no reason existing in a video game other than to excite game nerds. Why is that never brought up? I understand that people say it looks too much like MMZ series, but honestly, if the timelines are connected there should be at least a slight resemblance or connection to other series for purposes of continuity. It's like people today wearing the "shutter shades" of the 80's or wearing retro looks, or trying out new fasions based on old designs. I hope no one feels like I am knocking their opinions at all, I just wanted to give my opinion on why I think C works rather than just blowing it off because the "eww factor".

    ReplyDelete
  33. Why does everyone keep saying he isn't wearing anything in C? His skin isn't black. :P

    ReplyDelete
  34. C's design looks like it's trying to emulate the styles of the Battle Network and Zero series, which doesn't fit Legends at all.

Each Megaman series has a distinctive style, and mixing in others won't do Legends justice.

Legends' style was of blocky armor, not something streamlined. It wasn't much of a bodysuit like newer series were. It was slimmer than the X and Classic series' armors, but bulkier than Zero, ZX, BN, and SF.

Removing one of Legends' memorable aspects would be a disappointment. If we're lucky, they'll add the other armors as, say, unlockable choices or something similar. C's design is nice, but it's just not what I'd see in Legends.

  35. @Daniel

The reason more people don't like C's design isn't because it's sexual or anything, it's simply because it looks silly and impractical. At the very least it looks like he FORGOT to put on the crotch plate. It's a wide open space that doesn't have a nice contrast and as I said, it seems impractical and also rather empty. For example, why would a knight or samurai not protect a certain part of the body, yet leave an obvious gap open? In THAT area especially! XD

    ReplyDelete
  36. Except for the legs, C is too simple. B is Better Because it's good and gives some variety.

    ReplyDelete
  37. I've always considered Volnutt a humanoid, and seeing how design C gives him a more human-like feel, I love it. No need to stay classic: changing Volnutt's design is a great way to differentiate Legends 3 from it's precursors. A way to show the Legends series will be renewed and that it's more than prepared for this new generation of gaming.

    ReplyDelete
  38. As opposed to thinking Volnutt is apelike?

    ReplyDelete
  39. Only thing I don't get is what's the reason to change his hair color with the B and C options?

    ReplyDelete
  40. I voted A. Can't go wrong with the classic IMHO.

    ReplyDelete
  41. I don't particularly like C. The big black section accentuates his crotch way too much and it doesn't make sense to have no armor there when the rest of his body is completely covered in armor. I really like B, though.

    ReplyDelete
  42. I've seen at least 3 people say C is too simple.

What the crap? O_o It's the least simple of the three! XD

    ReplyDelete
  43. If he just had a wider torso then I'd be down with B. So C for now.

    ReplyDelete
  44. C feels so... weird. It's like Zero without his hair. (and without his brief and booblights in the X series XD ) He looks incomplete.

    ReplyDelete
  45. I voted for B. I can only pray that anyone who cares about preserving the feel of the DASH character designs votes similarly.

    ReplyDelete
  46. Face it, C is going to win because everyone wants a better view of Volnutt's back! XD

    Women don't resist Volnutt:

  47. @MegaMac

I respect your opinion and thank you for your response. I can see where you are coming from as a form of protection. For a second there, I was thinking you meant because his "junk" is exposed and I was like...he's a robot.. BUT I get it. Regardless of the fact whether he does or doesn't have "junk" isn't the issue, but moreso that he is bare and if he took a shot there it could damage him. I do agree with you in that aspect. I also get what every one else is saying about aesthetics also. I agree with what another user said in hopes that Capcom will put in an armor system that allows players to change him as they see fit.

I know we all bicker but in the end I guess we should just be thankful a new game is coming out and that we have the opportunity to work WITH the creators. How many times can you say you've done that... EVER?

I know whatever they decide, I'll be happy just to have another game.

    Go Capcom!!

  48. I wouldn't mind C at all. I like the new shoulder pads and the leg armor. The only thing that bugs me is the lack of armor on Volnutt's junk. B is a pretty nice update of his original armor. But all together i'm with Anon #3. Everything C with B's crotch piece.

    ReplyDelete
  49. Actually from the look 3 posts down it looks like they might have gone with the B armor

    ReplyDelete
  50. i like C but they should but Bs shoulder on Cs

    ReplyDelete
  51. Well for me i would love to C get use in the next game, so i vote for C

    ReplyDelete
  52. Probably C because it would add the look that his lower torso armor was destroyed in space.

    ReplyDelete
  53. I love his arms in C's design, but I'd choose B, because he looks updated, but not too updated.
