"Bad Box Art Mega Man" Infects Resident Evil 3 Remake

If Dr. Light and Dr. Wily weren't enough for ya, Resident Evil 3 has one more Mega Man-themed surprise.

Just as you exit the derelict subway station (the one with the Dr. Light and Dr. Wily poster) there's an alleyway blocked by two zombies. Beyond the undead pair, you'll find an abandoned toy shop, "Toy Uncle", that's filled with all kinds of Mega Man merchandise. And not just *any* Mega Man merchandise – Bad Box Art Mega Man. Figures, posters, replica helmets.

He lives...

The toy includes such phrases as:
"I'm the man. The myth. The Mega." "Gettin' Mega with it." and "I like big bots, and I cannot lie."

The existence of Bad Box Art Mega Man – a presumed fictional superhero in this alternate Resident Evil universe – throws a wrench in the (half serious) theory that the Mega Man games take place after the events of the zombie outbreak. OR maybe it's this very superhero that inspires Dr. Light to create Mega Man in the first place?

Yeah; try not to think about it too hard. Like the Light and Wily poster, this is all in good humor.

  1. If this was a hint for the next Mega Man spin-off series, I wouldn't even be mad.

    2. Better yet, a toyline with all bad box art versions! MM1-2 US, MM1-2 EU, and MM 9-10 (with Proto and Bass)

    1. I imagine japan probably finds it as amusing as anyone else. the fact that the west had weird interpretations of the character has just become part of the inside joke at this point that both sides of the fandom are aware of

  3. I hope someone's taking notes of this. I want a figure of that. And also that poster is rad.

  6. The cast of RE should feel blessed that a toy store called "TOY UNCLE" exists in their world.

  7. Resident Evil is the game that defined the Survival Horror genre, though it was not the one that started it, it refined on what it's predecessors had created and made it into something grand. The basic idea in Resident Evil is you are put against overwhelming odds, facing terrible monsters with almost nothing to defend yourself with. Sound like any fun to you? Then read on. twitch viral
