Mega Man 2 Hits Europe eShop Early Next Year

Nintendo of Europe has announced that Mega Man 2 will make its way to the Nintendo 3DS eShop sometime in Q1 2013. That's anywhere between January to the end of March. Like its predecessor, Mega Man 2 is expected to run you £4.50 / €5.00.

Don't ask about North America, folks. It remains to be seen just what the holdup is.

  1. Quite honestly, I never believed a Guts-Dozer could fly.

  2. You know, I don't think I've ever seen the European box art for this game before now.

    What a wild picture.

  3. I have Mega Man 2 on VC....there is no reason to buy another version. It's so stupid....

  4. I'd rather they release Mega Man II instead of Mega Man 2

  6. I've never seen that version of the game cover before. My European Mega Man 2 has this realistically drawn man with a silver armor.

  7. Huh. I've never seen that cover art before. Pretty awesome!

Still, this delay in a NA release really bugs me. Nintendo's really dropped the ball on this one, I'm still waiting for Kirby's Dreamland 2 as well.

    What's the holdup, anyway?

  8. I wonder why there are 2 European covers. Different countries got different art or it's just an alternative like Archie's covers?

  9. The same as nearly everyone else, where did this picture appear? Never seen it before in my life.

You have an incredibly cartoon-like Mega Man on the front of the picture, and an incredibly life-like Dr. Wily in the background.

    What is this???

Also,[insert post about Mega Man not 1 being on the US VC]

  10. Woah, that picture! I kinda like it. :D

Even though I don't have a 3DS and I already own these games a million times over, I have to wonder what the hell is up with the delay to the North American VC. Nintendo of America has really lagged behind in releasing games for the VC, even for the friggin' Wii. It's really frustrating knowing they could release them but they won't until very late for some lame reason or never at all!

Either way, I hope those of you who are North American and own a 3DS are able to get these MM games. I know a lot of you are thinking "who cares? I already own this game on the NES, Anniversary collection, Wii VC, etc." Well, yeah. That is true and I agree with that. If I owned a 3DS, I wouldn't be too bothered either. XD But some of you may want to play these games on the go in the passenger's seat or on an airplane. That would be kind of cool. Sort of. Not really? Okay, I'll shut up then.

  11. If that's the 1988 (Europe 1989?) alternate boxart, I have to say it's pretty neat.

Better than the US one with Dr. Light cowering behind Crashman, at the very least.

  12. To everyone wondering where that box art comes from, it's from the German release of MM2.
