Rokko Chan Art Book, Soundtrack Now Available (Updated)

Last week, we were introduced to Rokko Chan, a charming Mega Man clone that features a female Blue Bomber. Prompted by the game's success and cult following, developer King has graciously released a pair of goodies you may want to check out.

The official Rokko Chan art book (sampled above) is available for your consumption on this page. Inside, you'll find an abundance of images from Rokko Chan's development. There's some conceptual designs, 3D renderings, sprites, and even a few kooky surprises thrown in. Unfortunately, the 22-page book is entirely flash-based. A high resolution PDF version is not readily available at this time. Even so, it's a delight to behold. UPDATE: Here's a rip, courtesy of GeminiSaint!

If you fancied Rokko Chan's excellent chiptune soundtrack, you'll be pleased to know the soundtrack has gone live. Grab it here and typed the word "rokko" into the blank field at the top, and press the button directly underneath. The page should open a link to download the soundtrack. If that fails after five seconds, click the link that reads "ใ“ใกใ‚‰".

Enjoy, folks! And if you haven't played Rokko Chan yet... well, what are you waiting for? Give it a spin here!

Thanks for the tip, Jeff!

  1. Look at how swiftly this fangame is going. It may be unofficial but christ, it sure seems like it's something bigger what with all this. I love it. Dunno about this new blogger layout though, lol. Will take a couple days to get used to.

  2. Kinda wish the "art book" was a little bit more high res, but I can't complain. If you know how to save the .swf file, you get to have a handy little stylish art book in Flash format.

  4. Is it just me, or are some of the images of Rokko Chan...suggestive?
    N-not that I'm complaining.

  5. I like the success of Rokko Chan. Personally, I'm hoping for a 2.

Is it just me, or is there a new layout? O_O

  6. I extracted all the pages from the Flash file and put them in a more convenient zip file.

The game is really well done, I'm impressed. The main 6 stages had a nice balance of difficulty, and hoorah for the dash!

  9. Is the site down for anyone else?

  10. Yep; it's down.

It's getting a lot of coverage from a number of sites, so I imagine it's just a bandwidth thing.

  13. I really want an English translation of this content. I really, really do. If only so I know the names of those two evil so-and-sos in Mad Stage 1! Raaaaage!! DX

Off-topic: Hey, Protodude! Did you blog get an upgrade when I wasn't looking? I notice each article has like/share buttons now and some of the fonts changed. The layout seems ever-so-slightly different, too. Not to mention, some people submitting comments from Blogger now have an avatar by their name in the comments page.

  16. @GeminiSaint There's only 12 pages in your zip file and the post said there's 22 pages...are some missing?

  17. @Anonymous #5:
12 files should be correct, as there's two pages to a file, excluding the front and back cover. The virtual art book actually opens and closes like a real book, see, so the page count goes:
    1, 2-3, 4-5, etc. etc., 22

  18. Is anyone having trouble reaching the actual Rokko Chan website? I keep getting 404 results from all of the King-Soukutu pages.

  19. @Joseph: The names of the Mad Sisters are Fransiska (silver) and Lancea (gold). The KE in Lancea's name is pronounced as a CE instead.
