Rockman Online Lives

It's been a good two months since we last heard from Rockman Online, and with Mega Man's recent track record of no news=cancellation, people were beginning to worry. Nevertheless, the game is alive and well... for now.

Pmang's official Rockman Online blog updated with a new article focusing on the importance of Force Metal, a key element to Rockman X Command Mission. Recapping the events of Command Mission, the article summarizes the origins of the element as well as touching on how potentially dangerous it could be if misused. Eventually, Force Metal would be converted into equipment to enhance the abilities of Reploids. However, as a trade-off, Reploids with a high concentration of Force Metal energy would go berserk, transforming into monstrous beings.

Despite the dangers, Force Metal is an invaluable material desired by both the UCA and URA forces. The UCA’s Dr. Gaudile researches methods to purify Force Metals without side effects, while URA's Dr. Psyche works to better the mutated qualities of Force Metal, aiming to create the most powerful and warped Reploids yet. There's a bit more to the story of course, so head on down to The Mega Man Network for the tale's entirety.

As much as I enjoy these story-based Rockman Online updates, I'm eager to hear more about the actual game. We haven't heard a whisper from the gameplay front since September! I dunno, you can't help but wonder...

  1. Gameplay is everything. Look at WoW, virtually no story aside from 'We need your help clearing out these monsters. You're done? Good. Help these guys out next."

Although, what's a good Rockman without a good storyline? ;D

  2. Honestly, does anyone give a flying ****? Not trying to ruffle feathers, but I believe this game has long since fallen off the radar of many.

  3. What gameplay we did see months ago look pretty uninspired.

That and the fact the story is sounds like a bad fanfic and they've done things like make Sting Chameleon huge just leaves me with the impression the people making this just got the license cheap and don't really care about it.

Now I know some will say I'm supposed to like it because it's the only Rock Man game left, but it'd be like going to Red Lobster and getting imitation crab meat it's just not what you want.

  4. Who cares? It's NEVER coming to America.

  5. Well, it's not really perfect so far, but those story-like updates...

Must be their way of saying "Look forward to using this."

  6. So is Rockman Online meant to be a parallel continuity (in which the Zero games are not considered), or is it sometime in 22XX, but before the Elf Wars start?

  7. Not interested. Give us Mega Man Universe, Capcom!

I believe last time we were discussing Rockman Online's canonicity, we agreed upon it being a parallel continuity, where the MMZ events didn't happen. So it's not canon.

Or was it a canon continuity between MMZ and MMX, somewhere before the Elf Wars? I clearly don't remember.

  11. Oh, good, at least this one still exists.

And I'll take a AU with some interesting creative license over the rehashing that was 9 and 10 and the utter mundanity that would have been Universe any day. Alas that we won't get to play this.

There are plenty of games that never came to America that I enjoy profusely.

  13. To be honest, I'm pretty sure this will be offically cancelled soon because they said Mega Man Universe was alive and then few months later, it was cancelled.

  14. Could you whiners be anymore negative? Either silence your useless prattling or pressure Capcom into localizing it in your area. I said my piece about disliking Universe and my apathy about Legends 3 THEN I GOT THE HECK OUT OF THE WAY FOR THE PEOPLE THAT CARED. Gaming does not revolve around what YOU want believe it or not. Capcom's only in it for the money as is every other company out there. That's the circle of the industry. Deal with it.
Failing all that import it and make your own judgment then.

  15. Command Mission materials being used = Win

I wish there would be a way for us to play this one... in languages other than Korean that is.

  16. I like how MMU fans rage about Rockman Online who looks 100x better than ugly MMU.

  17. ^ All subjective. Personally, I think they both look like shit.

  18. Looks like some anon here has never seen sh.. before.

Seriously RMO is the only megaman game in development now and some who calls themselves fans bash that very game.No wonder every one hates fanboys who cares only about their choice

    Seriously WTF!!

  19. I have no problem dating it within the official timeline. If Command Mission was in early-22XX (like 221X), then there is likely some time before the Elf Wars begin, so it could work. Either way, I do like the references made in the game, though some things are a bit out there.
